Fleshlight Shower Mount

Is it really August already? How the summer flies by. I was very fortunate this month that Lovehoney contacted me and asked me to review the all new Fleshlight Shower Mount for them. It's a pretty self-explanatory device which allows you to stick your favourite Fleshlight / Fleshjack to a wall, but in case you're in need of a little more explanation here's a very NSFW video of a sexy man demonstrating how to use it.

Catch the review below.

The Fleshlight is quite easily one of the best male sex toys on the market today, as well as being one of my personal favourites, but possibly the only area where it's let down is by the fact that you have to hold it during use. The need for it to be held somewhat limits its applications by restricting it to more of a masturbation device than something to thrust into and simulate sex, but now the people at Fleshlight have finally come up with a clever solution.

The Fleshlight Shower Mount is an adjustable suction cup which screws onto the base of most Fleshlight models in place of the existing small end cap. It's quite a simple device on the whole and has three main features: firstly the cap section which connects to the Fleshlight can be screwed into place as tightly or loosely as you desire, allowing you to adjust the suction within the Fleshlight, just like you would with the standard end cap. Secondly, the Shower Mount has a hinge in the middle which allows you to alter the angle at which your Fleshlight projects from the surface that you've affixed it to, according to your personal preference. The hinge moves through around 130 degrees, so you can thrust into the Fleshlight horizontally, up vertically, up diagonally, down diagonally, or anything in between. The hinge is adjusted by loosening and tightening a small plastic nut, so once you've selected your perfect angle there's no worry of it shifting at all. Thirdly, the most important feature of the whole device is the suction cup itself, and this is good size at 3.5" in diameter. The suction cup works by first wetting it and placing it against a smooth surface, then by rotating a small slider to lock the suction cup into place. Once engaged the suction cup holds really firmly, even with the weight of the Fleshlight on top of it, and it can withstand a good amount of vigorous thrusting without being knocked off.

Although the device is called the "Shower Mount" it can be used anywhere that you have a smooth surface available, such as on the door of a mirrored wardrobe if you really want to watch yourself in action, on a floor-to-ceiling window of a skyscraper if you're feeling like an exhibitionist, and even on laminate flooring if you'd prefer not to use it in a standing position. As long as the surface is smooth then it's fine, but probably the biggest advantage to actually using it within the confines of the bathroom is clean up, as once you're done fluids are likely to drip out of the end of the mounted Fleshlight, depending on the angle you've set it to, so better for that to run down the shower tray than onto carpeting. If your surface isn't completely smooth then don't worry, as the Shower Mount can handle a small amount of unevenness in the surface of a glazed tile without falling off, but it really does need to be a full sized tile - mosaics aren't going to work. When you are finally done with the toy it does actually come away surprisingly easily, despite how firmly it was held only moments prior. You simply rotate the slider into the unlock position, then pull on the small tab on the suction cup to peel it away from the surface.

On the whole I have to say that I'm a really big fan of the Fleshlight Shower Mount; I wasn't sure that I could like my Fleshlights any more than I already do, but this little device just went ahead and improved them, and I'm definitely going to be getting a lot of use out of it. It opens up a whole new world of hands-free pleasure with your favourite masturbation aid.

One slight downside is that the Shower Mount isn't compatible with the clear Fleshlight cases. It mentions this on the packaging and at first I didn't believe it so I felt compelled to test it out for myself. It transpires that the end of the clear case is ever so slightly larger than that of the other colours, enough that it won't readily screw onto the Shower Mount

I'd definitely recommend the Shower Mount to anyone who owns a Fleshlight; it's great if you'd prefer to thrust into your toy, it can be used in a wide variety of locations and holds extremely firmly, and it can be adjusted to whatever angle suits you best.

Tantus Raptor

If you've been following my blog over the past year and a half then you'll know that I'm a huge fan of Tantus products, so when I saw that they'd come out with this amazing orange dildo which they were calling the "Raptor" I immediately knew I'd have to get my hands on it. It's their second dildo to bear the name of a dinosaur, after the rather large and foreboding T-Rex, so we can gather that there's a little bit of theme going on here. Thankfully the Raptor is the smaller cousin, and you can find out what I made of it after the jump!

Despite the timing of this review I actually purchased the Raptor around 6 months ago, and in that period it's quickly become one of my favourite dildos, but I will admit that initially I was a little sceptical about its unusual design.

The Raptor is unquestionably a beautiful dildo to behold, but also quite unorthodox in several respects. It stands at an impressive 8" tall in total, but in practice only around 5" of that are actually insertable due to the presence of a pair of balls stuck to one side of the shaft, like a plump, juicy tangerine. The shaft itself is only between 5" - 5 1/2" in circumference, so nothing too alarming in size, but perched atop it is a big bulbous head which measures 6 1/4" around its widest point, something that would prove a challenge for many. What's interesting to me though is that this combination of design features works, for reasons which I'll explain later, and that's pretty much what I love about Tantus; they dared to try something a little different and it paid off.

Like all Tantus products the Raptor is made from 100% platinum silicone; my all time favourite sex toy material. It's completely non-porous, odourless, and body safe, so you can feel confident putting it inside your body, and you can also sterilise it and share it with a partner. The silicone is Tantus's regular formulation, so it's a little on firm side, but with just enough give in the surface if you squeeze it gently. As is becoming increasingly common in Tantus's phallic dildos as of late, the Raptor features a dual finish to the silicone, with a smooth glossy head and a matte velvety shaft. It's one of those fairly minor details which I happen to really like as it indicates that someone's put some extra thought into the design.

The production quality of the Raptor is impeccable; something which I've learnt to expect from Tantus. There are no mould lines anywhere, nor any defects in the surface, so I really couldn't complain about a thing even on my most nitpicky day.

When it comes to using the Raptor it's one of those toys where you'll probably need something to warm up with first, rather than diving right in, unless you're feeling especially limber that day. The head is very large and rounded, with quite a rapid taper, so the best way to tackle it is to prepare yourself first with something more gradual. It is possible to to insert it without the aid of another toy if you've had prior experience with something of this size, but it's going to be a slower process and require more patience, as trying to force it will only aggravate the sphincter. It probably goes without saying but the Raptor is not a beginner's toy and is best tackled by people who comfortably know their way around a dildo or two.

With preparations taken care of, and plenty of water-based lubricant applied, the Raptor is actually a very comfortable dildo to insert. The smooth glossy head glides seamlessly through the sphincter as you feel it rapidly expand, and the give in the surface is enough to cushion any pressure in the process. Once you reach the widest point you feel a slight bump or "pop" as you pass over the ridge of the corona, then slowly as you insert the shaft further you feel it begin to narrow, and the sphincter goes from being stretched to its maximum to being able to relax a little, which is quite a welcome sensation. With the dildo inside you there's this wonderful combination of feelings; the large rounded head feels satisfyingly filling at every depth, but the thinner shaft doesn't place too much tension on the sphincter or leave it feeling overly stretched, so you get the best aspects of both a larger and smaller dildo rolled into one.

My favourite way to enjoy the Raptor has to be by squatting over it and using it in a riding fashion, and this is where a couple of its features come into play. The 2 5/8" diameter base gives the dildo a nice amount of stability wherever you chose to stand it up, even with its slight backwards lean. Because it's a tall 8" dildo it has a nice amount of height, so you don't have to squat too low to use it, but what I really like is actually the balls, and how they restrict how much you can insert. My initial thought was that the balls were just going to waste 3" of shaft length by making it unusable, but they actually act almost as a protective measure, allowing you to be much rougher with the dildo when thrusting, if you so choose. Nothing is worse when thrusting with a dildo than accidentally going too deep and slamming into the top of your rectum with a firm object, so consequently you typically find yourself acting cautiously with those longer dildos so you don't slam yourself down too hard onto them and sustain an injury. With the Raptor you only have 5" to insert, which is more or less the depth of the rectum, so by the time you've gone down all the way you'll find the balls pushing up against your perineum, rather than the head of the dildo impaling your colon, so you can really ride up and down on it hard and fast completely worry free. Obviously for some people this may be a downside, if you've invested time learning to insert things deeper, so it's worth being aware of.

What I really love about the Raptor is how good it is for prostate stimulation. That big head is nothing short of incredible; the size, the shape, the firmness of it, somehow it all comes together so that with every thrust it rubs back and forth across the prostate to the maximum effect, delivering waves of pleasure. It really is a fantastic dildo for thrusting overall; the slightly thinner shaft increases the comfort factor and reduces friction, while allowing for a little more manoeuvrability, and the matte surface provides a nice amount of sensation with each stroke. Everything seems to complement itself to make the Raptor's performance exemplary in terms of prostate stimulation, from the design, to the ability to thrust more vigorously, and I'm continually wowed when I use it.

Like many Tantus toys the Raptor is harness compatible and suitable for strap-on play. There's a 5/8" gap between the base of the dildo and the balls, allowing space for an O-ring. When held horizontally the dildo even has a slight upward angle which is especially suited to this purpose, and it doesn't droop under its own weight either. The base is nice and thick so it should be held securely in any harness, without the risk of it falling out.

Overall I have to say that I'm incredibly impressed by the Raptor and it's another victory by Tantus. It goes to show that just when you think you've seen everything in dildos someone can try something a little different and really blow you away. Without hesitation I would recommend the Raptor to anyone who likes their dildos a little on the thicker side, and who loves intense prostate stimulation.

You can buy the Raptor directly from Tantus as well as SexToys.co.uk, Lovehoney, and EdenFantasys:

Realistic dildo features testicles for more realistic fantasy play. Perfectly sized for anal use, the Raptor is available in Black, Purple Haze, and Orange.

Ultimate Lube

Recently the folks at Planet Earth Wholesale asked if I'd be interested in reviewing some sexual enhancements products from the "Ultimate" range, including this stimulating lubricant. Normally I'm not a huge fan of reviewing lubes because there's only so many different ways to describe how slippery something is before it all starts sounding the same, but these products seemed interesting enough for me to make an exception.

The Ultimate Lube is a condom-safe water-based lubricant, described on the packaging as a product designed to "boost sexual potency and male prowess" which is certainly quite a lofty claim to be made for a lube, and not one which I'm sure can be definitively put to the test, but it certainly should be fun investigating.

The lube is quite a thick, clear, gel with a strong aroma of menthol, very reminiscent of Wrigley's Airwaves chewing gum. When you couple this scent with the blue packaging it immediately gives the impression that it's going to be a cooling lubricant, the idea of which rather appeals to me. I've never actually tried a cooling lubricant before, but ever since one day in childhood when I spent an awful lot of time in the shower thoroughly washing myself with Lynx Glacier Water & Deep Sea Enriched Mint shower gel, I've been a fan of a refreshingly chill sensation around the genitalia.

The directions for use suggest applying a "small amount" of the lubricant and massaging it into the "desired area", namely the penis, and so I duly did as such. Shortly after application you begin to experience a cool tingly sensation in the mucus membranes with make up the head of the penis and inner lining of the foreskin, and this is actually quite pleasant, and indeed refreshing. At this point the natural inclination is to begin masturbating, and the combination of the physical stimulation with the cool sensations of the lube produce a very pleasing result. Unfortunately as time progresses the pleasant feeling begins to wane, instead being replaced by one of discomfort as the sensation from the lube continues to intensify, moving from a cooling sensation to more of a burning one, and eventually in my experience something quite unpleasant. I left the lube on for as long as I could stand, hoping it might eventually die down, but in the end I was forced to wash it off, which thankfully eliminated the discomfort entirely and left no after-effects. I spoke to someone from the company about my experience, and apparently the lube is intended to have an effect which causes blood to be drawn to the surface of the penis, in order to increase arousal and improve erection quality. I can't say that I noticed that particular result amidst my discomfort, but perhaps my experience was typical, and I was merely extra sensitive to the effects. I can only speak to my own experience, and it seems perfectly feasible that others may react less strongly to it than I.

Setting aside the physical sensations of the product for a moment, there's also the question of how it performs as a lube. It's quite thick so it does adhere nicely to the skin, or indeed any toys which you may wish to use with it, and it starts off feeling quite slippery. My primary complaint about how it performs as a lube is that it doesn't last long at all. Even when using quantities far more liberal than those suggested by the packaging, after a short while the lube becomes gummy and tacky, causing skin to stick to skin, and increasing friction, rather than giving a smooth gliding action. Were I a fan of how it worked in other regards, then I'd probably apply only a small amount of this first, then couple it with one of my favourite lubes, rather than using it by itself.

Normally I would include a section on how it performs with insertable toys, but you'll forgive me if I decline to put into my rectum something which caused irritation to my penis, as the former is far less easy to rinse than the latter, and the outcome seems almost predictable anyway.

In summation I'd have to say that it's not a lube that I'd give my recommendation to. While not everyone will experience the same bad reaction as I did, the fact is that it's just not really a great lube to begin with. Were it a fantastically slippery product which lasted for ages then maybe I'd suggest taking a chance and trying it, but right now essentially what you're looking at is a lube which is tacky, which won't last long, which needs to be mixed with something else in order to make it usable, and which has as least some chance of causing you discomfort / irritation.

If anyone else has tried this then I'd love to hear your experiences in the comments below, whether they be similar or completely different.

Ultimate-D, delay cream and spray

It's my second review of the "Ultimate" products, and this time I'll going to be looking at Ultimate-D, two products designed to desensitise the penis and prolong sex, for those looking to really extend the throes of passion with their lover.

The Ultimate-D comes in two different varieties depending on your preferences: there's a cream and a spray, and we'll look at each in turn. Surprisingly the products are quite different, especially when it comes down to the ingredients, rather than just being essentially the same thing but with different modes of delivery.

The cream comes in two different sizes; there's a 15ml pot and a 6ml pot, both of which are quite tiny so you'll want to use it sparingly. The cream itself is a thick white substance with a greasy feel to it, and it spreads quite well so you really don't need a lot. The only ingredient listed on the packaging is Lidocaine, which is a local anaesthetic, so you'd expect it to be quite good at doing its job.

To use the cream you simply apply a small amount to the most sensitive parts of the penis, namely the glans and the frenulum, and massage it in until it disappears, which luckily doesn't take long as it's readily absorbed. The packaging recommends not having sex for 10 minutes after application, but that the cream should start to take effect after 3-5 minutes. 10 minutes does sound a little long, especially if you're in the middle of spontaneous sex and have to stop and wait, so you'd better have figured out something else to do with your partner during that time, lest the mood be killed.

After waiting 5 minutes I did notice a mild reduction in sensitivity when I touched my penis, but it was barely perceptible for the most part. During subsequent masturbation the effects of the cream didn't appear to cause any reduction in the feelings of sexual pleasure coming directly from the surface of the penis, which I took to be a good sign, but in a way it also did seem to feel slightly less sensitive, though a part of me wondered if I may have been imagining it. Even though sexual acts felt no less pleasurable I did have some inkling that I may be able to last for a slightly extended period, though by no means anything dramatic, so it did appear to work to some minor extent.

The spray comes in a 25ml bottle so you get a much larger quantity than with the cream. It has a rather fresh smell about it, like a citrusy household cleaner. It doesn't appear to have any local anaesthetic in it like the cream does, and relies much more on natural ingredients such as peppermint and menthol.

To use the spray you simply point it at the head of the penis, squirt enough to get good coverage, then wait for it to evaporate and you're ready to go. Like the cream the spray does have a slightly greasy feel to it, so if you accidentally spray too much it can help to rub it in. Once the spray makes contact with the penis I found that it felt a little warm, though only briefly and not uncomfortably so. The only slight discomfort I had was around the opening to the urethra which exhibited a brief sting, so I'd advise making sure that you don't get any of the spray in there.

In my experience the spray performed better than the cream and reduced the feeling of sensation by a greater degree, though I wouldn't really describe it as being significant enough to have had a partially numbing effect. Like with the cream it didn't seem to lessen the sensation of sexual pleasure which was good, though there was a greater awareness of the surface of the penis being less responsive to touch, and I felt more confident on this occasion that the product would allow the user to prolong their sex sessions.

I can't speak to how well either would perform for suffers of premature ejaculation, but in terms of extending the duration of sex under regular circumstances the spray would definitely get my vote. It's quicker to apply, requires less waiting time before engaging in sexual activity, and it's more cost effective in terms of the quantity you get for what you pay.

Tantus Ryder

The Tantus Ryder is a plug which has quickly become considered something of a design classic amongst sex toy connoisseurs. Given this reputation I knew that sooner or later I would have to try it, and while previously I had eschewed its rather simplistic design in favour of more elaborate-looking products, the time has finally come for me to weigh in. Catch the review after the jump!

I don't know if Metis Black was reading Lord of the Rings when it came time to design the Tantus Ryder  but "One butt plug to rule them all" seems like a pretty fitting description for this particular toy.

The Ryder, quite frankly, is a toy that just works; it's not fancy, it doesn't come with a lot of bells and whistles, but it performs its duty to the letter. It slides into place, it fills you up, and it stays where you leave it until you're ready to take it out again.

Looking at the Ryder it is a fairly non-descript toy; nothing about it especially jumps out at you or captivates your interest. It was perhaps the lack of excitement associated with it which lead to my delay in acquiring it, as typically I'm drawn to things with a little more flare, but it is in its simplicity which lies the key to this toy. The central design of the plug is rather like a capsule of cod liver oil, a squashed ellipsoid, long, gently curved, and rounded at each end. From one end sprouts a rather thin neck which joins onto a sturdy oblong base.

The entire plug measures in at 5" in length with 4 1/4" that are actually insertable, while the remainder is taken up by the reassuringly-thick base. Around the middle of the plug it has a 5 1/4" circumference which is a pretty decent size for most people; it's not too big and not too small, but the lack of taper at the tip will likely rule it out for any complete novices. The neck of the plug is 7/8" long which should offer adequate space for the muscles to come to rest along once it's fully inserted. The base of the plug is 1" wide by 2 1/4" in length, and it varies in thickness from 3/4" in the middle to 1/2" at the sides. Altogether it forms a pretty solid and secure piece which should anchor the plug firmly outside the body.

Like all Tantus products the Ryder is made from 100% platinum silicone; my all time favourite sex toy material. It's completely non-porous, odourless, and body safe, so you can feel confident putting it inside your body, and you can also sterilise it and share it with a partner. The silicone is Tantus's regular formulation, so it's a little on firm side, but with just enough give in the surface if you squeeze it gently. The finish to the silicone is completely smooth and glossy, giving it a nice polished appearance.

The production quality of the Ryder is excellent; something which I've learnt to expect from Tantus. There are no mould lines anywhere, nor any defects in the surface, so I really wouldn't be justified in complaining about a thing. Perhaps the only thing which bothers me slightly is the lack of complete symmetry in the plug, but that's not a flaw so much as my obsessive compulsive nature nitpicking.

The Ryder is a lovely toy to use and I'm going to go ahead and say that you probably won't need a warm up toy if you've had experience with other butt plugs and dildos before. If you're a beginner then I'd really suggest you find something with a bit more taper before tackling the Ryder. As the end of the plug is completely rounded you're going to want to go quite slowly at first when inserting the Ryder, and use plenty of water-based lube, as the sphincter is going to go from zero dilation to the total width of the plug in quite a short distance. The shiny surface of the silicone slides quite easily through the muscle, and the small amount of give in the surface ensures a comfortable experience if you decide to pause along the way and give a little clench.

Once you have the tip of the plug inserted it's smooth sailing from then on and it gently glides the rest of the way in. There's no real sense of a "pop" as the bulb becomes completely enveloped, and instead the sphincter just swallows up the narrow neck and comes to rest against the base.

The plug feels very comfortable inside the body and is held quite securely. The capsule shape is filling but without being too much; you're aware that something is there, but it's not constantly grabbing your attention. The neck of the plug is narrow enough to allow the sphincter to relax somewhat around it, and not feel constantly stretched open, and it's long enough to have room for the entire sphincter to sit along it, so part isn't perched up against the underside of the bulb and compromising how securely it's anchored within the body.

The base of the plug nestles neatly between the buttocks and feels quite unobtrusive. Its rounded edges mean that nothing pokes uncomfortably into the skin, and the thickness of it prevents it from being floppy, giving you the peace of mind that the base will stay firmly outside the body where it belongs. It also doubles as a convenient handle for when it comes time to remove the plug.

When being worn the plug is quite discreet, meaning you can wear it under clothing without it being noticed. You can wear it while walking around, sitting down, sleeping, during sex, and because it's a comfortable plug it's perfect for long term wear. One downside is that because the base is quite thick it's not as comfortable to sit down while wearing as some other Tantus plugs, so ideally you'd want a more cushioned chair.

It's a really nice plug if you're looking for something straightforward, and I have to say it probably is a key piece for every toy chest. Sometimes you just want a plug that's going to be a plug, and offer that nice sensation of having something moderately sized filling you up, and this does just that, and extremely well. It's not the right product if you want lots of texture, or prostate stimulation, or to feel overly filled, but it's definitely a good place to start with a butt plug collection, and a toy that you'll keep coming back to because of its comfort and quality.

Over all I can say that I'd happily recommend the Tantus Ryder; it's a simple plug that does exactly what it's supposed to, and you'll feel pleased every time you put it in.

The Ryder is available directly from Tantus, as well as SexToys.co.uk and Lovehoney.

Fun Factory Boosty

A few months ago I reviewed the rather small yet surprisingly enjoyable Fun Factory Bootie butt plug, and as much as I enjoyed it I couldn't help but crave a little more size, so today I'm reviewing its big Brother the Boosty.

The Boosty has a very similar overall design to the Bootie, and aside from being somewhat larger the main difference is that the body has a bulged segmented shape compared to the completely smooth surface of its diminutive sibling. It's clear that while the Bootie is intended more as a starter toy, the Boosty is something designed to appeal to the more comfortable anal user, with its increased size and textured shape.

In terms of dimensions the Boosty has an insertable length of 3 3/4" and a maximum circumference of 4 5/8", so it has a reasonable amount of substance to it while still not being gigantic. If you've used the Bootie before then it's definitely a nice step up and shouldn't pose too much of a challenge, but the extra size is still significant enough to make a noticeable difference to the experience.

Like all Fun Factory products the Boosty is manufactured in Germany from 100% food-grade silicone, giving you a toy which is not only completely body-safe, but non-porous and odourless too. Like with the Bootie the silicone does feel a little on the firmer size compared to other brands, so don't expect too much give in the surface when you try to squeeze it. There is, however, just the right amount of flex in the neck and base, so it's clearly a case of tailoring the right material for the job. The construction quality of the plug is very high overall, and it has a velvety-soft matte finish on the surface. The only slight complaint I can pick up on is that there is a mould line running the full length of the toy, as well a small divot in the base indicating where the raw silicone was injected into the mould. I say it's a "slight" complaint because the mould line is only slightly raised and not all that noticeable, though it does appear to be a little more pronounced than on the Bootie.

The plug is available in a selection of two colours: there's a lovely turquoise shade as shown in the image above, which I picked for myself due to its relative uniqueness, and also a rather less interesting black. I'm quite pleased with the colour options here as the turquoise is a little more exciting than the predictable purple option that the Bootie comes offered in.

The Boosty has quite an interesting shape, the body itself rather reminds me of a caterpillar or some sort of grub, with the way that it has three bulged sections of different sizes, and curves upwards slightly; it could almost have dropped out of a Pixar film, but maybe I'm just swayed by the colour I'm looking at it in. One of my favourite aspects of the design is the base, which is identical to that of the Bootie, and again quite similar to that of the Tantus Twist, though I still think I prefer it slightly to the latter. The base isn't that much wider than the shaft of the toy itself, but it is long and surfboard-shaped, which makes the plug completely anal-safe, all while being quite discreet. Atop the base is the neck of the plug; this is about an inch and a quarter long, and with a 2 1/4" circumference, and you'll find the words "Fun Factory" embossed lightly on one side. Beyond the neck the plug widens into the first bulged section, then curves over to one side as it forms the next two, and this makes up the main body of the toy. The central bulge is probably the widest point, while the one at the tip measures only 3 5/8" around, making an inch difference in the circumference between the two.

I was quite pleased with the size of the Boosty when I got it, and although it's still dwarfed by many of the other toys that I own, in terms of a smaller plug it's much more in line with what I'd expect, and more suitable for me than the novice-oriented Bootie. Like its brother the Boosty is actually a lovely plug to use, and it starts off by being pretty easy to insert. The slightly matte surface clings on to water-based lubes well, and the rounded tip slips into the body with very little resistance. The rounded tip is a little on the blunt side, but it's not terribly thick, so most people should get away without needing a warm up toy. If you are moving up from the Bootie then using that first should be sufficient warm up before progressing. As soon as you push the first bulge through the muscle you feel a little bump as you hit the groove, then resistance increases slightly as you continue to push over the widest middle bulge, and this is followed by a small "pop" as that too slides into place. The final bulge is easy to manage after you've conquered the middle, and as soon as this is inserted the neck and base of the plug immediately slide into place. The neck is long enough to give the muscles plenty of space to sit and grip onto the toy, while the slimline base slots itself between the buttocks and feels incredibly comfortable. The base couldn't be less obtrusive if it tried; the rounded edges don't poke you or dig in at all, and you can sit down on it and walk around with it all while barely being aware of its presence. I'd guess that you could even sleep with it in and not be disturbed.

The plug sits securely in the body for two reasons, one because the neck is narrower than the widest point, and two because of the way the bulged tip of the plug hooks over and almost anchors itself in place. I felt no slippage whatsoever, and this is coming from someone who's fully inserted the Tantus A-Bomb in the past, so I think that says something. This gives you the freedom to wear it during sex, or go out with it in, all without worry of it suddenly escaping. When you consider the size of it, the Boosty isn't the most filling plug in the world, but it does offer a nice satisfying amount of sensation, akin to the presence that you feel from the Tantus Ryder, and it's definitely a good upgrade from the Bootie. What I like most about the Boosty actually comes down to the shape of it; the curved tip just pokes you nicely in the centre of the prostate, in a way which is enough to feel pleasant for users new and experienced alike. It's a very similar sensation to that of the Bootie, just turned up a couple of notches, and luckily the slight changes to the design didn't compromise the performance. I'd still argue that this sort of shape seems to work better than some of the rigid specialist prostate toys I've used, as often they seem to overestimate the depth of the gland and instead poke you in the bladder. The plug really delivers on a number of fronts for me, because you get that same great prostate feeling that you do from the Bootie, coupled with a much more satisfying size to feel inside you, and on top of that there's some fun texture to enjoy during insertion. It's the sort of plug that I could readily wear all day and enjoy.

Once you're done with the plug it comes out nice and easily again; the broad base makes a convenient handle to grab onto and help remove it, and you get to experience those bumps again as it travels in reverse. After that it's simply a matter of popping it in the sink with some antibacterial soap and hot water to clean it, though as it's silicone it can also be sterilised with boiling water or a mild bleach solution. Do be mindful to pay extra attention to the grooves in the body through, in case any dried lube or other matter becomes stuck in them.

The packaging for the plug is nice and small and discreet, which is what I like because it's not bulky or wasteful. I'm not sure I'd really keep it for storage purposes, but it is an option. Fun Factory handily include a multilingual instruction pamphlet and a sachet of their water-based lube, so you can get going straight out of the box.

I have to say that I really would recommend the Boosty plug, especially to people who are already lovers of the Bootie. Fun Factory took something which is great for beginners and upgraded it into something which is suitable for those with a bit more experience, who enjoy a little more size. It's a well constructed piece made from a great material, it stays in place, it's easy to insert, it feels comfortable for long term wear, and it has a great shape that will stimulate the prostate. It has all the key elements you want in a good plug, so you can't really go wrong.

The Fun Factory Boosty is available from Lovehoney

Don Wands Blue Swirled Delight Dildo

Back in January as I was concluding my review of the Mister Twister glass dildo I commented that, while I did enjoy the texture, I felt a traditional dildo shape might be better, and I've decided to finally put that to the test. There are a couple of dildos currently on the market that fit the bill, including the Icicles No.29 from Pipedream, which is a range that I'm quite familiar with, but I decided that in the pursuit of diversity I'd go another direction and purchased the Blue Swirled Delight from Don Wands. This make glass toy number five in my collection, and my first from this brand. Check out the review after the jump!

The Blue Swirled Delight is a medium-sized glass dildo perfect for anyone who enjoys a bit of texture in their toys, or indeed anyone simply curious about trying out texture for the first time.

In terms of length it's fairly standard coming in at 7 1/8" long, with 6 3/4" insertable, so it's longish if you're comparing it to an average penis size, but in terms of toys it's fairly ordinary and far from some of the excessive things I have in my drawer. I refer to it as "medium" mostly in reference to its width, as it's really not that thick of a toy at all; the circumference of the shaft comes in at 3 5/8" around, making it one of my least girthy toys, but the head of the dildo does expand to a quite reasonable 4 5/8", so you can see why it was necessary to have a smaller shaft in order to achieve the rather elegant shape they were going for.

The dildo is an especially attractive piece to look at, both in terms of shape and colouration. The design of the dildo features a nice bulbous head at the very tip, and this is elongated into a point at the end to give it a gentle taper. The shaft of the dildo has a couple of things going on, the first being a very subtle curve rather than a completely straight design. The other is that the shaft is ribbed with a number of prominent ridges which are packed closely together and wrap around the shaft in a spiral to create a textured surface. The core of the dildo is completely clear, as can be seen at the head, but the spirals in the shaft have a deep cobalt blue pigment embedded in them which gives a rather stunning appearance. At the very bottom of the dildo is a 1 3/4" wide base, and this serves as a handle, a safety feature to prevent over insertion, and also a convenient way to stand your dildo upright when not in use, or even just to display it somewhere as attractive as it is.

The dildo is manufactured from borosilicate glass, which is also known by the brand name "Pyrex." This is an important feature because it means that it's a very tough and durable material. The glass isn't going to crack, shatter, or otherwise break in two during the course of normal use, and you can also subject it to extremes of temperature without it sustaining damage. The material is, of course, not indestructible, so if you accidentally drop it onto a hard surface from a significant height it may well chip, but don't be surprised if its your tile floor which fares the worst in such an encounter. The other advantages of glass as a material are that it's non-porous, body-safe and can be sterilised ready for sharing with a partner, and also that it's great for temperature play, whether you want to heat it up under the hot tap, or cool it down in an ice bucket. Potential downsides to glass, depending on your preferences, are that quite clearly it's a rigid and inflexible material which might not appeal to everyone.

When it comes to using the Blue Swirled Delight the name gives it away a little, because it really is a delight all round. The gentle taper on the tip makes it nice and easy to insert, and this should be possible without the need for a warm up toy for the vast majority of people. Because the surface of glass is so smooth and polished it really does slide through a tight sphincter like a knife through butter, with no discernable drag whatsoever. You don't even need a lot of lube either, and because it's glass you can use any lube you like; a couple of dabs of a thin silicone lube are more than enough, so forget the buckets of thick anal lube. In my opinion most people are going to get on fine with this dildo, you don't really need a set level of experience in order to tackle it. Because of the size and shape I'd almost be tempted to say that it would be good for a beginner, but what holds me back really is the material; as glass has no give to it you really want some degree of control over the muscle, else one involuntary spasm will have your uninitiated sphincter clamping down firmly on solid glass and any ensuing discomfort could be off-putting. The other factor is the texture and often it's best to start with something smooth and allow yourself to first become accustomed to that.

Once the head of the dildo has slipped seamlessly into the body you really do get a nice "pop" and then it's on to the really fun stuff after that. As you slide the shaft of the dildo in it doesn't feel that large, so it's pretty much what you'd expect from it, but what you probably weren't expecting was the texture. The texture adds a wonderful new dimension to the dildo, making it feel like so much more than just its size. As you you thrust with the dildo the sphincter ripples over these spiralling ridges and it really does feel quite amazing. The ridges themselves have the perfect prominence: enough to really be felt, but never so much as to even approach discomfort. They appear to achieve this by having fairly deep valleys between the ridges, but the peaks themselves are gently rounded off. My only word of caution would be for anyone out there sporting haemorrhoids, because while the texture feels incredible on a healthy anus, I imagine that it would be sufficient to aggravate a pre-existing tenderness in the region.

Personally I could use a little more girth in the dildo, but I find that the texture works well enough for me to overlook this, and I still get a great deal of enjoyment out of it. What's interesting is that different toys work in different ways, and this is very much an anus-focussed toy; it's in this nerve rich area that you're going be feeling all the different sensations and deriving the pleasure. It's not a prostate toy at all; even with the bulbous tip and slight curve to the shaft I have to say that it missed my prostate entirely and I felt nothing there. It really is all about the texture, so you want to bear that in mind and be sure that you're a texture fan.

You have a couple of options on how to use the toy, either thrusting by hand or standing it up somewhere and riding it. Both work equally well in my experience so it's just a matter of preference. The base isn't completely flat on the underside, so it does wobble a little when you place it somewhere, but this doesn't impede its performance at all. One thing you do want to watch out for with the toy is vigorous thrusting; it's likely that you're only going to be able to comfortably insert 2/3 of it anally, so it's important to bear that in mind during use, as accidental over-insertion with something as solid as glass can be painful

The dildo comes packaged in a tasteful and reasonably discreet cardboard box, complete with plastic insert holding it inside. It's not really anything special and you'll probably want to recycle it. Personally I would have prefered a simple velvet storage pouch for it in lieu of this, like the one which came with the Mister Twister. I understand that Don Wands did used to provide pouches but unfortunately stopped for whatever reason, which is quite a shame.

Overall I'd have to say that I'm a big fan of the Blue Swirled Delight and would happily recommend it. It's beautiful to look at, it has a fantastic texture, it's great for temperature play, and I much prefer the uniform shape to the conical design of the Mister Twister. The only real downside for me is that I'd like a little more thickness in the shaft. It may not happen to be a good prostate toy, but I don't hold that against it as I don't expect one toy to do everything, and it does more than enough already.

The Don Wands Blue Swirled Delight dildo is available from Pink Cherry in the U.S. and Canada.

I'm not sure of anywhere that sells it in the UK, so check out the Icicles No.29 as an alternative.

I'm very honoured to say that this month I have been selected as the recipient, as you can tell by the shiny new wax seal adorning my sidebar, and conveniently it even matches my blog colour scheme!

Jess over at the Vibe did a brief interview with me there to mark this event, and if you're interested you can read it here.

I just want to say a quick word of thanks to all my readers and friends in the sex toy community, who've helped the success of this blog over the past couple of years, and who've inspired me to keep on writing with all your lovely comments.

Doc Johnson American Bombshell - Rockeye

Doc Johnson recently released their new "American Bombshell" range of toys - a selection of vaguely military-themed dildos and butt plugs. The range features a number of completely new designs, as well as some old classics which have been rebranded and given a fresh colour scheme. One such toy is the Rockeye, which started life as the jet black "Intimidator" in Doc Johnson's TitanMen product line.

Weighing in at just over 1kg of solid PVC, the Rockeye is a hefty toy which certainly lives up to the descriptor "bombshell."

At an imposing 11” tall – 10” of which are insertable – this toy is aimed at those who truly enjoy a challenge in their anal play, yet this aside it’s also surprisingly versatile. The topmost bulb of the toy has a diameter of just under 1.9”, and while not best suited for anal beginners, it should be manageable by anyone with moderate experience. Beyond this point the toy narrows by 0.33” before gradually widening again until it reaches the maximum insertable thickness of 3.6” near the base. It’s not until you get down to 5” from the tip that the diameter returns to  1.9”, meaning that anyone who can insert the end can easily enjoy at least half of the toy right away, before they need to begin to worry about its size.

Due to the wide 4” base, and the kilo of weight, the Rockeye has a low centre of gravity which makes it perfect to be used when placed on a floor or chair, and by squatting over it without the need to hold it in place with a hand, or by obtaining a suction cup. I found this to be my favourite position to use it in, as the bulbous tip really hits the prostate every time you lower yourself down onto it, causing the sort of sensations that have you wanting to do it again, and again, and again.

The toy is made from Doc Johnson's phthalate-free PVC, with their antibacterial Sil-A-Gel additive, and it comes in a beautiful shimmery grey colour which they call "gunmetal." It's quite a firm material on the whole, and while it does have a fair amount of flex in the top third for you to be able to bend it around, it doesn't give very much when you squeeze it, meaning it’s not the most comfortable material upon initial insertion. The exterior surface is nice and smooth, so it glides easily in and out during use, and it’s completely free from mould lines. There is some shallow ribbing down the shaft, but this seems mostly cosmetic as you don't feel it at all inside you; there’s no noticeable sensation of a bump going down. Unfortunately the PVC / Sil-A-Gel does have something of a plasticy odor about it, what my friends would describe has "new shower curtain." I wouldn't describe it as overly unpleasant – and I’ve encountered worse – but it’s not ideal either and is more tolerable than anything. It's probably something you want to use in a large and well-ventilated room if you're sensitive to odours, as the quantity of material creates a volume of aroma which could quickly overpower delicate olfactory senses. The material also seems to be quite hungry for lube; I found myself having to use more of a standard water-based lube than I would on other toys, just to get an even coverage over a comparable area. For this reason I'd recommend pairing this toy with a thicker cream style lubricant.

Due to the very gentle gradient of the toy it does make the perfect tool for training yourself to accept wider things, but in order to get the benefit of that you need to be able to first handle the length. At 10” insertable it's around twice the length of the average rectum, which is really quite a lot, so you need to be prepared to take it deeper into the sigmoid colon. Due to the quite bulbous nature of the tip I'm not sure that this toy is the right one to use in an attempt to take that extra length for the first time, and personally I didn't succeed on this front.

On the subject of the packaging there isn’t a great deal to say, it’s just a simple clear plastic shell which does its job of holding the item in place, but there’s really no hiding what’s inside. I found it quite convenient to store the toy in when not in use.

Overall I'm quite pleased with this toy; it’s a lot of fun to use, whether you’re ready to take the whole thing, or if like me you're quite happy to just make use of the top half for now. The only downside for me would be the material, because it is a little firm, and I prefer toys on the odorless side.

You can't be sex-positive and pro-circumcision

I'm sure that for many people that's a controversial title - and for the record I'm talking here in reference to infant circumcision exclusively - but this is something I've been contemplating writing about for a while, and I've decided that sometimes it takes a little controversy to get people thinking about things. While the circumcision debate has been gone over countless times already I thought I'd look at it from a slightly different angle for a change, and also consider the wider subject of non-consensual genital modification in general, whether it be of boys, girls, or intersex children.

Sex positivity is one of those terms which gets thrown around quite a lot at the moment because it's the en vogue thing and everyone wants to think of themselves as being sex-positive, even while indulging some casual misogyny, slut shaming, and body shaming. But what is sex-positivity exactly, and how does it relate to this topic that I've chosen?

Now before I launch into this I just want to preface it by saying that I'm a big fan of circumcised penises, because I'm a fan of penises in general; whether they be big or small, intact or cut, I enjoy them, so this isn't going to be another one of those pointless pieces where someone on the Internet tries to argue that one is better than the other. If someone were to come up to me tomorrow and tell me that they've decided to get themselves circumcised then I'd be behind them 100% because I respect anyone's choice as a grown man without judgement.

Circumcision is a bit of a funny topic because in the Western World it's nearly exclusively an American phenomenon, and the fact that it's been going on there for 100 years or so colours attitudes and normalises the practice. In Europe, where it's not something that's done without medical necessity, people are frequently shocked about how widespread it is and don't really understand why it's done at all. It's interesting to see the different cultural attitudes to the subject, and being from the UK I definitely fall into the latter camp, so that's the perspective that I carry with me even before starting on this.

So let's begin by asking "what exactly is sex positivity?" and after that we can move on to addressing how that definition relates to the practice of infant circumcision. I think that sex-positivity has three main components:
  1. Sex positivity is about celebrating sexuality in whatever form it takes, and not judging people on their bodies whatever the shape, size, disability, etc.
  2. Sex positivity is about respecting people's choices about how they choose to experience sex, and not trying to impose your own will on them.
  3. Sex positivity is about empowering people to have the best and most pleasurable sex that they can.
Now let's look at each one of these individually and in more detail, and how they relate to the topic:

Sex positivity is about celebrating sexuality in whatever form it takes, and not judging people on their bodies whatever the shape, size, disability, etc.
  • Women often find themselves under a lot of pressure sexually, they're constantly being told that they're not good enough because of something to do with their bodies: they mustn't have hair anywhere, their breasts are too small or too large, their labia are too long, they're too fat to have sex, and of course there are a whole slew of products marketed at disinfecting their vaginas because society keeps telling them that they're dirty and have unpleasant smells. When you take a baby boy and circumcise him you're pretty much telling him the exact same thing, that he's not perfect the way he is, that a part of his body is ugly, that it's unclean, and that it was necessary to surgically modify him in order to make him acceptable, to make him look attractive, to make his genitals no longer 'dirty.' It's also patronising to suggest that a man can't keep himself clean; the foreskin shouldn't even be retracted until after the age of 5, and even then it only needs a quick rinse to keep it fresh. To me all of this sends a very damaging message, and as much as one can learn to tune out the adverts for feminine hygiene products, circumcision leaves a very real and lasting physical scar along with the mental implications.

Sex positivity is about respecting people's choices about how they choose to experience sex, and not trying to impose your own will on them.
  • When you take a child who's only days old and amputate a healthy part of his penis, you're taking away a fundamental choice that he should have about his own body, and forever changing the way in which he will experience all forms of sexuality. Every human being on the planet only gets one brief life to live, and in a single moment at the very beginning you're depriving him of an experience that he'll never be able to get back for so long as he lives: the experience of having his whole body and using it all to its fullest potential during sex. Instead what is essentially his first sexual experience at that tender age is one of pain and loss, and when he grows up every single sexual experience he has thereafter will not be one which is entirely his own, but one which is experienced in accordance with the will of the person who imposed a permanent change upon his body. Choice is eliminated and a single path is engraved in stone. Another important point about choice is how circumcision affects boys who grow up with gender dysphoria; not everybody born with a male body will identify as male, and some people even choose to alter their body surgically to reflect how they feel inside. One of the common methods used in sex reassignment surgery involves inverting the skin of the penis and using it to build a new vagina, and with a circumcised penis there's simply less skin, resulting in a shorter vagina, so it can have repercussions and restrict choices far beyond what you might imagine.

Sex positivity is about empowering people to have the best and most pleasurable sex that they can.
  • One of things we know about the foreskin is that it's a highly-erogenous zone; it feels good when it's touched and played with, and stimulated in any manner. It's an oft-cited fact that the clitoris has twice as many sexually-sensitive nerve endings as the glans of the penis, despite both sexes being identical at the fetal stage, and that's because the rest of those nerve endings are in the foreskin. Removing the foreskin removes a significant and fundamental part of a man's sexuality, because nerve endings cannot be stimulated when they're no longer there. The other important fact to remember about the foreskin is that the glans penis is intended to be an internal body part, and it's the foreskin that maintains that. If we think about the clitoris again, protected by its own prepuce (the clitoral hood), and the folds of the labia, it's very much internal, and very sensitive. When you remove the foreskin the most sensitive part of the penis is externalised, suddenly no longer protected and forced to rub against clothing constantly. I'm sure that any woman would equally find constant abrasion of her clitoris uncomfortable, so the body is forced to adapt. The glans of the penis, which is ordinarily a delicate mucous membrane, develops a thick layer of keratin over the surface to protect it. Keratin is the substance which hair and fingernails are made from, so essentially the head of the penis becomes callused and this dulls any sensory input to make its exposure more bearable (it also explains the difference in appearance between the shiny glans of an intact penis, and the dryer-looking circumcised one.) One other fact about the foreskin is that its gliding action makes for more comfortable sexual experiences. For solo play the foreskin is like an inbuilt masturbation aid and eliminates the need to use lube, and during intercourse it helps to reduce friction, again reducing the likelihood that lube will be needed, or that either party will feel sore afterwards. These are just three ways in which removing the foreskin will have a degree of negative impact on a man's ability to enjoy sex.

For these reasons I believe that if you choose to circumcise a child then you lose the right to use the label of sex-positive for yourself, because non-therapeutic and non-consensual circumcision is anything but a sex-positive act. It sends a negative message to male children about their bodies instead of celebrating the beauty of them in their natural state, it takes a choice away from a man at an age when he has no way to protect himself, and it removes something which exists for the benefit of sexual pleasure, leaving behind something diminished. These are just the facts about circumcision, but if you want a bigger picture of the subject then you need only read up about John Harvey Kellogg, the man largely responsible for introducing circumcision to America, and his views were anything but sex-positive.

Now where it becomes a difficult issue is when we start asking why so many parents in America still do this, because I don't for a second believe that people go into it with bad intentions, and my purpose isn't to attack parents who made that mistake once already. A lot of it is simply ignorance; it's ingrained in the culture as the done thing, so people go along with it without question. Some of it is a little stupid though, like a father's desire for a child to look like him, but this can be explained more sympathetically if we look at look at the psychological reasoning behind it. A circumcised man may not be entirely at peace with what happened to him, but he reassures himself that his parents would only have done it if it's better to be that way. He knows that he'd do no harm to his own child, so if he circumcises his son on the belief that it's better then he justifies his own circumcision. If he doesn't circumcise his own son then he brings into question whether the procedure is fundamentally good, and then he's confronted with the thought that his own parents may have damaged him as a child, and that can't be easy to deal with.

The other reason of course that parents may decide to do it is because they've been mislead by scientific studies which allege that it's beneficial, scientific studies which interestingly enough only seem to carry weight in America where doctors charge parents hundreds of dollars for the procedure, and not anywhere in Europe where healthcare is state-funded and heavily scrutinised to ensure the best use of the money. Many of these studies have been debunked as being bad science, but I won't recount them here in this already-lengthy post as there are better sources which can easily be found on the Internet. One interesting study is the one about HIV infection, which claims that circumcised men are less likely to catch the disease. This has been shown to be bad science because the two test groups of men, the ones to be circumcised and the ones to be left intact, were both being monitored from the same start point to the same end point, but the circumcised group was unable to have sex for the first 6 weeks of the study as they were healing from surgery. This gave the intact group a 6 week head start in which to have sex, giving them a greater chance of encountering a partner with HIV and contracting it from them. It also doesn't explain why America which has the highest circumcision rate in the West also has the highest HIV infection in the West, compared to an intact Europe.

Interestingly another point is that things which circumcision is supposed to prevent, such as UTIs are actually incredibly rare, but complications from circumcision are quite common. Something like 3 out of 100 boys who aren't circumcised will develop a UTI, but 16 out of 100 circumcised boys will develop meatal stenosis as a direct result of the procedure. So in effect you're cutting off 100 healthy functioning foreskins, and causing 16 problems which need to be addressed by further surgery, just to prevent 3 occurrences of a condition which could have been treated by antibiotics. This doesn't even take into account of the other circumcision complications such as skin bridges, excessive skin removal, bleeding, accidental glans amputation, penile necrosis, and even death. By comparison most conditions which arise in connection to the foreskin, such as phimosis, can be treated non-surgically through the use of steroid creams and gentle stretching.

I'm starting to drift away from the main point here, and to try to get back to it, as sex-positive people we shouldn't be performing unnecessary genital surgery on unconsenting children. We banned it on girls, we're starting to come around to the idea that it's better to let intersex children decide for themselves what gender they identify with and then get surgery if they wish, and we need to start treating boys in the same way. As sex-positive people we should be empowering people with their sexuality, leaving them with their whole bodies and encouraging them to explore them to the fullest, and giving them the ability to make their own choices, and the resources to ensure that they're good choices.

Circumcision can be an emotive issue, and many parents feel strongly that they have a right to make these sort of decisions, and will argue that no one should tell them what to do or try to take away that right, but it's not about taking away any right that a parent has, it's about protecting the right that a child should have. There is a saying "your rights end where my body begins." We trust parents to look out for the best interests of children, but children are not property to be done with as a parent pleases, so sometimes someone needs to take a stand for them. When something is irreversible, not medically warranted, and conveys no immediate benefits, then the right thing can only be not to do it, and to allow the person who owns the body to come to their own decision when they're old enough.

Congratulations if you got to the end of this; I could probably write even more if I allowed myself to go off on a series of tangents, but I've endeavoured to stick to the main point, and I hope that I've conveyed myself in a convincing way. My only hope is that maybe something I've said will make someone think about the issue, and if you consider yourself to be sex-positive then stay true to that and don't circumcise. Feel free to comment if you agree, or if you don't, but please be civil.

Oh, and one final point to all the men out there, be happy with your penis whatever you may have, they're all wonderful! I haven't yet met one that I didn't like.

Tantus Wham Bam Paddle

So it's October and the month of Halloween is upon us! I have a few very fitting items lined up to review in the next couple of weeks, but I thought I'd start off with something that just touches on the Trick or Treat theme, spanking! After all, what combines pleasure and pain better than a swift smack across a fleshy posterior?

I have to say that this is largely new territory for me. It's not that I haven't been interested in S&M up to this point, but rather that I've always considered it an activity for two (or indeed more), and as such I was never in any great rush to go out and buy a suitcase full of equipment. Leave it to Tantus to change all that; as soon as I heard that one of my favourite companies had come out with a new line of silicone paddles I felt absolutely compelled to go out and buy one to try for myself.

Tantus offer a range of four different paddles, all in varying shapes and sizes depending on your preference. Being an utter paddle novice I picked one based entirely on intuition. Coupling practical considerations of how I would use such a thing on myself, with questions of physics in regard to the level of pain I could expect, and of course a little nod towards aesthetics, I settled on the Wham Bam as the paddle for me, and you can get the lowdown after the jump!

The Wham Bam has what strikes me as a rather interesting design for a paddle, though I profess to be no expert on the subject, and while the Pelt has that more traditional table tennis racquet shape, the Wham Bam reminds me a lot of a kitchen spatula or a classroom ruler if you're contemplating corporal punishment Catholic school style.

In terms of size the Wham Bam measures 15" in total, with just under 10" of that being paddle and the remainder handle. The rectangular surface of the paddle is smooth and 2" wide, and it measures 1/4" thick, while the handle clocks in at 1/2". The difference in thickness creates a solid and robust-feeling handle, combined with a long flexible paddle section at the other end, and the design compliments itself well.

Perhaps unsurprisingly the Wham Bam paddle is made from silicone, and while the majority of paddles seem to be made from leather and its imitation counterparts, it makes one wonder why Tantus has chosen to bring a silicone paddle to the market, other than it being their signature material. One of the first things you'll notice about the paddle is that it does feel lovely; it has this soft velvety finish to the surface, and when you grasp it in your hand theres plenty of grip, negating any fear that it may go flying from your clutches mid swing. The other thing you'll notice is that there's a certain floppiness to the silicone; if you hold it upright immediately it bends and leans over to one side, and this will give it some unique properties during use in the way that a more solid paddle would not. Of course silicone is a very safe and hygienic material, but you may be thinking to yourself  "I'm not going to be inserting it, so why should I care?" Well I always like to think that you never can be too safe when it comes to sex, but starting from a very practical standpoint let's just consider mess. You can have lube on your hands, oil and candle wax over your partner, and you can pick up the paddle and get it covered in all manner of substances, and then at the end you can simply toss it in the sink or dishwasher and have it back to new condition. Silicone is durable and low-maintenance, so there's your number one reason. Number two, it can be sterilised. It may not be an insertable toy, but if there's a chance of getting bodily fluids over something it's always nice to have the peace of mind of knowing that it's going to be kept hygienic, especially if you're going to be using it with multiple partners. Silicone can be boiled or bleached in a way which other materials cannot, and afterwards you're good to go. Another benefit of silicone is that it is of course odourless, so have no fear if you're put off by the plasticy-scent of imitation leather products, and real leather isn't an option for you because of animal rights concerns.

The construction of the Wham Bam paddle is top-notch, just like I'd expect from Tantus, so there's not really much to say on the subject. I will point out that there's a mould line, just because I'm so used to mentioning their presence, or lack thereof, but it's completely irrelevant on this type of toy. Aside from that there are no pits, cracks, or defects in the surface which might otherwise affect your enjoyment of the paddle.

So we finally get on to the use, for what is a paddle if it's no good at inflicting pain, and I can safely assure you all that I've been merrily beating myself across the backside with it for several days now. The shape and design of the paddle actually makes it especially well-suited to self-punishment. Because of the length of the paddle you're able to easily reach around and make contact with both buttocks, and the flexibility of the silicone allows you to deliver a sharp smack with only the smallest flick of the wrist. The Wham Bam paddle functions almost as more of a whip than a paddle, meaning you don't need to put a lot of strength into striking someone firmly with it, as it flexes elastically and travels with its own momentum, then recoils after the point of impact. It's one of those things I'd really love to witness in super slow motion. For this reason it's probably quite suited to anyone with mobility problems, as you don't need strength nor big motions to deliver the blow. In terms of how much pain it delivers, well that's up to you, but the long thin design really concentrates the force in one place rather than spreading it out over a wider area, thus increasing the chance of a sting. Think of it similarly to whipping someone with a belt. If you start out quite softly with it then you can get a fairly gentle tap as a result, then just by cranking up the wrist action you can gradually increase the power and the sting until you get some glorious biting thwacks and the accompanying red marks they leave behind. It's almost a little addictive once you get into it; it hurts but you want more, and it's a challenge to see how much you can take from the paddle. A useful trick I found is that you don't actually have to hold the paddle by its handle, and by manipulating it nearer to the tip you can adjust the sensations it delivers, and make the motion a little sharper.

Although paddles are typically thought of as equipment for use on the buttocks, you can do a little more with the Wham Bam. It's not exactly a flogger, but you can flick it over your shoulder to self-flagellate with some success. It's also quite good to use to gently strike the penis, and deliver that stinging sensation to the underside of the head, somewhat dramatically but without risk of injury. Really it can be used wherever your imagination cares to take it.

When you're done with the Wham Bam you can actually hang it up somewhere thanks to a clever little hole in the handle. I appreciate this sort of thing because really where does one store a paddle? It doesn't come with much packaging as such, just a simple and sufficient polythene bag, so I'm thinking in the wardrobe on the hook next to the shoehorn.

So how would I rate the Wham Bam after all of this? Well I must say that my first experience with a paddle was resoundingly successful, and I enjoyed every painful moment thanks to the wonderful design of this toy. Really the only thing that was missing was someone to beat me with it, but I guess that's what the personals column is for in the newspaper. The Wham Bam really is fantastic; it's well made from a great material, and everything in the design from the length, to the shape, to the thickness, all comes together to deliver something which is simple to use and delivers those stinging biting sensations that you want to share with a partner during S&M play, on indeed inflict upon yourself if that's where the mood takes you. Overall it's a real treat and it certainly gets my recommendation; I wouldn't have wanted any other paddle to have been my first.

The Wham Bam paddle is available directly from Tantus, as well as from Lovehoney, and PinkCherry in the U.S. and Canada.

Fleshlight Freaks Cyborg Dildo

So my second Halloween-themed review this month is going to be the Fleshlight Freaks Cyborg dildo. Fleshlight originally released five different dildos and matching masturbators in the "Freaks" range back in 2011 especially for Halloween, and they must have been popular because they're still on sale at the Fleshlight website two years later.

If I had my way then I'd own them all, because they look like wonderful ghoulish works of art, but I decided that if I was going to buy one then it needed to be not so creepy that I'd have trouble putting it inside me, and also of a design that looked physically pleasing. Being a texture fan, and also a bit of a science-fiction aficionado, I settled on the lovely Cyborg, and now it's time to review it!

Anyone who follows my blog will know that I'm a big fan of the Fleshjack dildos, and I've already written reviews raving about six of them, but it seems a little strange this time to be talking about one which wasn't actually modelled on a person.

The design of the Cyborg dildo is spectacular to look at, but also not quite in keeping with its name. At the risk of being pedantic a cyborg is a cybernetic organism, something which is half man and half machine, and I really don't see a lot of the man component of this design. It's definitely something which has been heavily inspired by robotics, so perhaps naming it the android would have been more fitting. If you examine the balls then you can see all sorts of engraved circuitry, and up the length of the shaft is nodes and nodules, and all manner of ridges which look as though they could easily have come from an alien race straight out of your favourite science-fiction film. It's a testament to Fleshlight really that even when they're designing a dildo from scratch they pack an incredible level of detail into it. It wouldn't surprise me if they had someone there working on the designs who used to add greebles onto fictional spaceships.

The dildo measures in at 8" from base to tip, and of that you get 6" which are insertable. The average girth measurement of the shaft is 5 1/2" around, +/- 1/8" depending on how pronounced the texture is in a given section. Overall I'd say it's not a terrifying size, though the texture and detail tricks your eye into thinking that it's bigger than it actually is. The base of the dildo is actually pretty hefty, measuring 3 1/4" x 4" x 2", so in that instance you can believe what you see, and it gives the Cyborg a nice low centre of gravity helping it to stand upright almost anywhere.

Like all the Fleshjack dildos the Freaks are made from 100% platinum silicone, and they come in some incredibly vivid colours, especially the Cyborg's stunning purple. Silicone is one of my favourite sex toy materials because most importantly it's safe for the body, and is a medical / food grade material. It also happens to be entirely odourless and easy to clean and maintain. The silicone in the Fleshlight Freaks range seems to be a little bit firmer than the silicone used in the Fleshjack Boys dildos, and is interesting to note, but can possibly be explained by the fact that these are not intended to feel as realistic given that they're not emulating a real person's body part. While I would compare the firmness of the Fleshjack Boys dildos to the Tantus Pack 'n' Play, the Freaks dildos are more akin to any of your regular Tantus products. There's a decent amount of give in the surface of the Cyborg, and you can bend the shaft around without too much effort, but it doesn't have that plush quality of the Fleshjack Boys dildos. The other real difference to note is the finish, as the Cyborg has a lovely smooth shiny surface to it, whereas the Fleshjack boys have a very fine velvety texture caused by the grain of the skin being picked up by the silicone.

Like all Fleshlight products the build quality of the Cyborg dildo is exceptional. There isn't a mould line in sight, which is all the more surprising given the complexity of the design, nor are there any pits, fissures, or other visible defects anywhere to be seen. One thing which does disappoint me somewhat though is that my dildo is seriously lopsided. I'm not sure if it's a case of all of them being like this, or somehow mine just slipping through the cracks of quality control, but it has a major Leaning Tower of Pisa thing going on. If you look at the 360 degree product view they have on their website then the whole thing is pretty straight and upright, so being the perfectionist that I am I'm a little disappointed that mine isn't like that. Otherwise I can't really fault the manufacturing.

When it comes to using the Cyborg dildo I'm probably going to suggest a warm up toy, and not because of its size. The tip of the dildo is actually quite modest and very gently tapered, but it starts with the texture almost immediately, and it just so happens that the texture at the tip is some of the most prominent on the whole toy. Inserting something with that much texture is going to be far easier and more comfortable if you're already fairly loosened up. As you start to insert the dildo it really does feel quite intense, and the ridges catch a little on the soft fleshy tissue just within the anus, so using plenty of lube is a must here. The tip of the dildo is designed to look like the head of a penis, but you don't really get a "pop" as you pass over the final ridge, more a pleasant sense of things calming down somewhat. Once the dildo is inside you can appreciate the comfort factor of the material because it does have the right amount of flex to move around inside the body, and the give in the surface of the silicone is enough to be gentle with the sphincter - you can only imagine how much more you'd feel that texture if the dildo was rock solid. Thrusting with the dildo is an experience in itself and there's a lot going on at once. Every half inch of movement in any direction has texture stimulating the sphincter and it can be quite a lot to process. I wouldn't say that thrusting with the dildo was an overly uncomfortable experience, but for me it wasn't especially pleasurable either, and at this point we're talking about long slow thrusts. I did attempt to get up to some thrusting speed with the dildo but that was where I had to stop as it felt as though something was grinding against my insides. There are options on how you can choose to use the dildo and position it, whether it be frontwards or backwards, or if you decide to squat over it or manipulate it by hand, but it doesn't really change much because there's 360 degrees of texture on every side of the shaft, so if you're trying to escape it then you're out of luck. In terms of prostate stimulation I didn't really notice any, and I did focus my mind on this for fear that other sensations might be drowning it out, but it just wasn't there. The Cyborg is one of those toys which delivers its sensation primarily into the sphincter through its use of texture, it's just a question really whether or not you can handle that texture, and I for one was slightly overwhelmed, albeit to my surprise.

The packaging for the Fleshlight Freaks dildos is very similar to the current packaging for the Fleshjack Boys dildos, in fact it was the precursor to it as back in 2011 most Fleshlight products were still coming in lovely metal tins. The only real difference in packaging between the two is that the Freaks have no flap / door on the front, so instead you just get a clear plastic window through the cardboard box which shows you the contents inside. The box is fairly simple and has some pictures and writing on the sides letting you know which product it is, as well as a photo on the back of the full range should you decide to collect them all. The flaps are stuck down with security seals which tear when you peel them off, and inside you'll find the dildo held cocooned within a plastic insert tray. On the whole it's nice packaging, pretty tasteful and discreet; I kept mine to store the toy in but I don't expect that most people would because it's not quite that special.

I'm going to briefly talk about cleaning the toy, and really that's just because of the ridges. As you should know you don't need to take any special precautions with silicone and it can be bleached, boiled, chucked in the dishwasher and sterilised, but because it does have these deep and pronounced ridges you want to make sure that no dried lube or bodily matter gets caught in them. Give them a scrub with a soft toothbrush if need be just to get anything out.

Summing up the Cyborg is a tricky task because I look at it and I love the whole design and concept, and the fact that it's well-made (bar the lean), from quality materials, but the texture was just a little too much for anal use. I'm certainly happy that I own it, and I still yearn for the others, but it's just not that practical for me to use - even as texture lover - and I fear that it'll spend most of its life now back in its box. If you want really hardcore texture then this very well could be the perfect dildo for you, but if you're not sure then don't be seduced by its incredible design, because you could well end up just a novelty Halloween ornament.

Bathmate Hydromax X30

So today I'm going to be doing something a little different and looking at a penis pump. I have tried one penis pump in the past, and you may be thinking that if you've tried one then you've tried them all, but the company behind Bathmate came up with a completely unique design, and you'll soon see why.

It's not often that a toy really piques my curiosity, but I was browsing Tumblr the other day when I found a photo, and then video, of an attractive Australian man lying in the bathtub with an interesting contraption attached to his penis, and I had to know more about it.

The Bathmate, as I learnt, is a penis pump which works by using water pressure rather than the traditional air, and its patented design, developed in the UK, is completely unique on the market today. I did a little more research, as any sex toy reviewer would, and I came across a rather dishy looking man who'd kept a 6 week video diary of his experiences with the Bathmate, and who had seen a permanent increase in size by the end, and I knew that I had to put this to the test.

Unusually I actually went ahead and reached out to the manufacturers of Bathmate and very politely enquired if they might consider letting me have a product to review, and I'm very pleased to say that the nice gentleman I spoke with was more than happy to oblige, so here we go.

I intend this to be a bit of a project over a period of time, so I'm going to start off by doing a standard review below with an overview of the product and my initial impressions, then each week I'm going to write a new update post to track my progress. I'll post the links to the updates here as well so you can easily find everything in one place.

I hope you enjoy this, and catch the details after the jump!

There are currently six different pumps available in the Bathmate range, each with a variety of features and at different price points to suit everyone. Today I'm going to be looking at the Bathmate Hydromax X30.

The Bathmate Hydromax X30 is one of Bathmate's new generation of pumps, purporting to offer 35% more suction force than their original Hercules model. In its entirety the device is 11 1/4" in length, with a 2 1/2" internal diameter at the base, and it comes with an optional comfort pad which increases the length by 3/8", and reduces the diameter by 1/4". The design features a long polycarbonate tube at the top which is available in three colours, red, blue, or clear, and I happened to be sent the blue. Below the tube is a black concertina section (known as the 'bellows') made from a skin-safe rubber compound, and into this is where the comfort ring plugs. The top of the tube features the valve system which regulates the passage of fluid out of the pump, and this can be locked shut by toggling the centre piece left or right. The side of the tube has a sticker on it which features a measurement gauge, but this scale is only accurate both when the bellows are fully compressed and the comfort pad is not in use, so at other times it can be useful just to compare progress between sessions. The scale stops at 7", but there is another 1 1/2" of space inside the tube, so it is recommended that people who already measure 7" go for this particular model rather than the larger X40. Overall the Bathmate seems to be made to a very high standard and I can't find any faults with it. According to the manufacturer the whole thing has been tested to "withstand compression pressures of 400 kilograms and impact forces of 20 kilograms dropped from a height of three metres" which sounds quite impressive to me.

I've never been entirely sure what the primary purpose of a penis pump is meant to be. Is it a device to help people with erectile dysfunction? Is it a tool for those seeking penis enlargement? Or is it simply a bit of a novelty device to fool around with in the bedroom à la Austin Powers? The people at Bathmate answer this question by describing it as a device designed for penile health, that will promote harder and longer lasting erections, as well as causing penile enlargement. That certainly sounds good to me; I may be an age where I'm considered to be at my sexual peak, but there's no harm in working towards maintaining the quality of erections well into the future, and I don't think that any man would turn his nose up at gaining some extra size in the process.

The principle behind how the Bathmate works is similar to how a traditional penis pump works; by evacuating fluid from the chamber the pressure within it is reduced, and thus the penis expands to fill the space as more blood is encouraged to flow into it. The only difference is that in the case of the Bathmate the fluid being used is water rather than air, and water being a liquid has some different properties to gaseous air. Air molecules are spaced quite far apart, and thus can easily be compressed such as if you were inflating a balloon, and also pulled apart. Water molecules are packed much more closely together, and have a much stronger attraction to each other, so short of cooling water until it becomes ice, or heating it until it becomes steam, you can't have much impact on these molecules by exerting pressure alone. So what effect does this have on a penis pump? Well when you pump the air out of a traditional pump, not only does some air get removed, but the remaining air within stretches and thins out because of the lower pressure. With the Bathmate the water simply cannot do this, so for every drop of water that's removed from the chamber the same amount of blood must flow into the penis to compensate for it, causing it to enlarge in the process. It also means that you get a solid cushion of water all around the penis during use, which exerts a constant force onto it, rather than having simply a chamber containing reduced pressure air.

So how do you actually use the Bathmate  Well as the name suggests it's intended to be used in the bath, or even in the shower - and if you're planning to go this route then the separately sold shower strap will definitely come in handy - but really you can use it anywhere that you don't mind a little water sloshing around. I'm going to start by talking about the bath as I think it's probably the most effective way. You want to run a nice hot bath and just sit in it for 5 minutes or so to begin with, and allow the heat to gently relax all the muscles and tissues in the body. Once you're ready you fill the Bathmate with water from the tub, and then place the tube over your flaccid penis and push it down firmly into your abdomen until a little water squirts out of the end, and this should create the suction to hold it in place. I found it best to start off in a seated position with the entire Bathmate submerged, rather than reclining and having it sticking out of the water. As with any pump it works better the less pubic hair you have; I started with mine quite neatly trimmed, but ended up shaving it all off before the end because I suspected that it may have been causing issues.

The next step is to begin pumping, and again the Bathmate is different to other pumps because it doesn't have the traditional hand pump which many devices do. You operate it by pushing the Bathmate downwards again towards the pubic mound, and this will compress the concertina section at the base and force water out through the one-way valve at the top. The bellows are quite stiff and I found it best to use two hands to compress them, but they need to be this way as it's the force of them trying to return to their original uncompressed state which creates the suction inside the tube. At first the pumping can be a little tricky to get the hang of because the valve can be quite temperamental, and if you release the pump too slowly then you risk air being sucked into the tube through the valve and no pressure being created. The key is to pull the Bathmate downwards and then quickly release, and this will maintain suction inside the tube whilst lowering the pressure. To start with it's best to pump gently, forcing out only a little water at a time, and as you release the Bathmate you'll see the penis begin to expand within it. Keep doing this until you can really feel the pressure, but stop before it starts to become uncomfortable. You'll feel the force of the Bathmate in two regions, firstly inside the tube where the penis is swelling up, and secondly around the pubic mound where the pump is pressed down quite firmly under its own force. You may need to adjust the testicles at times if you begin to feel the scrotum starting to be drawn up into the chamber, or if it feels as though one of the tubes supplying the testicles is caught under the base of the pump, but for the most part the pressure of the pump in this region feels fine, in part thanks to the cushioning of the comfort pad.

I found that compared to an air pump using the Bathmate was quite a nice sensation; the warmth of the water around the penis felt very comfortable, and the penis can move around much more freely within the tube due to the lubricating effect of the water, rather than it getting caught against the plastic sides as it expands. It can help to rub a little silicone lubricant over the surface of the penis before you begin as well, as this further lessens the chances of the skin tugging against the sides of the tube. Bathmate recommend using the pump for no more than 15-20 minutes in any 24 hour period, and preferably breaking this into several 5 minute repetitions, so it can be useful to have a clock handy. You'll want to pump it up, hold it for 5 minutes, then release the pressure completely and repeat. This gives the penis a chance to constantly get a supply of fresh oxygenated blood, and it repeats the process of expansion with a break in between.

If you're using it in the shower then the process is pretty much the same except you'll be standing up the entire time and will need to hold the Bathmate out in front of you if you don't have the shower strap. The trick with putting it on is to first move the value into the 'lock' position and fill the chamber from the tap, then whilst holding it vertically lower your penis into the pump and form the seal without losing too much water, and then bring it up to a horizontal angle, unlock the valve and start pumping to create suction. I'd say it's slightly easier to use in the bath when you're sat down and everything is submerged, rather than standing up in the open air, but most men probably are more the shower type so it's worth getting the hang of both ways so you can do whatever suits you best.

Once you've finished your first 20 minute session with the Bathmate you're like to see something of a change in your penis. Mine had gone slightly darker and reddish all over, as well as being left constantly in a semi-erect state, though all of this would fade away over the next hour. Towards the end I think I may have slightly over-pumped as I did have some residual swelling in the head, looking almost as though it was retaining fluid, but this was easy to remedy simply by squeezing the penis until the affected areas returned to a normal size. What really pleased me about the Hydromax was the lack of damage to capillaries in the surface of the skin; with air pumps you'll often see a lot of little red dots all over the skin where the capillaries have burst under the pressure, but the design of the Bathmate system seemed to prevent this from happening. In terms of size there wasn't really any immediate change, nor would you expect there to be after a single use, so this is why I'm planning a long term experiment, but subsequent erections after pumping did seem to be especially firm.

One of the advantages of the Bathmate is that it's very low maintenance. It doesn't have a lot of parts so there isn't much that can go wrong with it, and it also simplifies the cleaning process. It's not really a toy that's going to get dirty as you're using it in water right after you've been washing yourself, but it doesn't hurt to rinse it out after use just to remove any soap residue etc.

So as I said I'm going to be doing this as an extended investigation, but my initial experience with the Bathmate is a very positive one. The products are very well made, simple to use, utilise quality materials, and in the short term I can definitely confirm that they work. Compared to an air pump I much prefer the feel of the Bathmate, but the only downside is that you can't use them in the bedroom. A Bathmate isn't a foreplay tool in the way that you can jump into bed and fool around with pumping your partner up, but rather it's something you're going to use to get yourself nice and firm and ready before sex. Based on my experience so far I would happily recommend the Bathmate as a high-quality British-made device for improving erections. Check out my diary entries below to see my progress on the enlargement front.

Vixen Creations Leoweenie

Trick or Treat! It's my special Halloween review, featuring the limited edition Leoweenie from Vixen Creations. It's so limited edition in fact that you can't buy it any longer as it was released for Halloween 2012, but I rather missed the boat on that one. I picked it up a couple of months late because I simply couldn't resist something that looked so amazing, and believe it or not it's been sat in its packaging completely unused until now as I was just waiting for the right opportunity, and here it is! Better late than never I say.

The Leoweenie is actually my first Vixen toy which isn't made from their dual-density VixSkin material, so for me it's pretty interesting to get my hands on their standard silicone formulation and see what it's like. The Leoweenie is also my smallest Vixen toy to date, so there's a lot of firsts going on today, but what can you really expect when my Vixen collection started with the drink-can-thick Randy?

The design of the Leoweenie is in fact just the standard Vixen Leo dildo shape, which should suddenly explain the reason for the name to everyone out there who was wondering where it came from. It's a 7 1/2" long dildo, with approximately 6 3/4" insertable, though it's hard to be accurate on this point due to the curvature of the shaft. The widest point of the dildo has a circumference of 5 1/8" and the narrowest is only 4 5/8", so its not made with girth lovers in mind. The Leoweenie does have a phallic shape about it, though with one of the most unusually designed heads that I've ever seen for a penis. The glans is quite short, squashed, and narrow across two axes, but then along the third it's suddenly extremely elongated with the corona protruding a good 1/4" out from the shaft. Often I pick phallic dildos based on how aesthetically pleasing I find their shape, and in my books the Leo is not winning any beauty contests, but luckily the Leoweenie has other things going for it. Below the oddly-shapen glans there is some visible detailing which simulates the presence of a retracted foreskin quite accurately, and there ends the detail for the most part. The shaft has a gentle upwards curve to it, featuring one subtle vein running the entire length, and it joins onto a sturdy 3" wide base which houses a hidden suction cup underneath. What makes the Leoweenie really special, and why I love it, is not the shape of it, but rather what they did with the material. The dildo is this fantastic pumpkin-orange colour which just sings out Halloween to you, and then on top of that there are black bats everywhere. The bats are a really interesting feature because at first you assume they're just painted on, but then you look closer and realise that they're actually embedded into the centre of the material, and they're all different shapes and sizes. What's really impressive though is what happens when you bend the dildo, because the bats stretch and compress along with the surrounding material, as though they were all one. I wish that I knew precisely how it was that they achieved this, but I can only assume that the bats are made from the same material as the rest of the dildo, and that they were inserted in a semi-cured state, allowing everything to bond and fuse into one solid piece. Regardless of how it was done you can't argue that the Leoweenie isn't simply fantastic to look at, and a worthy trophy piece in any dildo collection.

The Leoweenie is made from 100% platinum silicone, which is another reason to love it as silicone is one of my favourite materials. It's odourless, non-porous, and completely body-safe; what more could you want in a dildo? The particular silicone formula that then use is really interesting though because it feels rather unlike any that I've felt before, and I'm wondering if it's because the orange is slightly translucent, or if all Vixen silicone is like this. It feels to me a bit like gummy sweets / candy, as strange as that might sound. It's not as firm as standard Tantus dildo, and not quite as soft as a Pack 'n' Play, but it occupies this middling ground that I've never seen elsewhere, and which I really like as I find myself sitting here bending and squeezing it in between paragraphs. It's pretty easy to flex about in your hands which bodes well for insertion, and it also has a good amount of give in the surface when you grasp it tightly in your fist, so I'm predicting a high comfort-factor.

The build quality of the Leoweenie is also impeccable, just like my other dildos from Vixen Creations, and I can't fault it in any way. There isn't a single mould line to be found on the toy, and the surface is completely smooth and shiny, free from any holes, defects, or other visible imperfections. Truly a high standard of manufacturing.

Using the Leoweenie is a very simple affair, though I have to admit that after all this time I was tempted to keep it in its packaging like a collectible, but I knew you guys would expect more. Because of its size I'd say that it's very suited to a beginner, and the vast majority of people should have no problem inserting the modest head without the need for a warm up toy. The tip of the Leoweenie slips into the body very comfortably, and the orientation of its ovoid cross section is particularly complementary to anal use as it corresponds to the natural shape of the expanding muscle. Despite the prominent ridge on one side of the head you don't really get a sense of a "pop" as it goes inside, but there is an awareness of there being a textured feature there in contrast to the smoothness of the rest of the shaft. As it is a rather slim dildo it's not especially filling, so if you're used to bigger then you're likely to be left wanting, but its overall presence can be pleasantly felt within the body and should satisfy many. In terms of thrusting the dildo functions well and the silicone has enough flex in it for the shaft to bend and snake around inside the body to maximise comfort, so you needn't worry about uncomfortably prodding yourself inside. The modest girth also has the advantage of allowing you to get a little deeper than with thicker dildos, and the smooth surface glides very freely with little noticeable drag. Where it is let down though is in terms of prostate use as the size and shape really didn't deliver anything for me in that regard. I had been hoping despite its lack of girth that either the curve in the shaft or the ridge on the head would have been enough to deliver some prostate sensations, but unfortunately nothing really materialised. One of the more welcome observations during use is how the silicone gradually warms to body temperature and delivers a more natural feeling, thus enhancing the experience the longer you play with it.

Depending on how you're using it the base of the toy is very practical in a number of ways: it's broad enough to give the toy a good amount of stability if you're planning on standing it upright and riding it, it fits comfortably into the hand if you want to grip onto it and thrust manually, it's compatible with a standard O-ring harness and study enough not to fall out, and of course it has a suction cup to hold it onto walls and floors. The suction cup is of a most basic design, but it actually works extremely well and securely holds the dildo firmly in place onto whichever shiny surface you'd like to stick it. I actually find it easier to use the suction cup with the silicone Vixen toys than with the VixSkin ones, because it's far easier to apply more pressure to the dildo, without that outer layer of pliable material stretching around.

The Leoweenie comes packaged in the standard Vixen clear cylindrical tube, and fits quite snugly within it. Getting inside the tube and removing the dildo can seem tricky at first, but is actually quite simple if you know the trick. Before you remove the cap you want to squeeze the tube slightly just below it to allow some air under it, then it will pop off with ease. Doing this also helps when replacing the cap after you're done. The tube doubles as a handy storage container in the long term, so it's worth hanging onto.

Overall I have to say that I have a big soft spot for the Leoweenie, and this is down entirely to its fantastic appearance. There's no denying how amazing it looks, and I'm so pleased to have it sitting proudly in my collection. If I were putting that aside though and reviewing the regular Leo model then I'd say that the pros for the toy are its high quality materials and standard of manufacturing, as well as the convenient inclusion of a suction cup in the base. The downside was that I didn't find it great for prostate stimulation. Size wise it's definitely more of a beginner toy, and not suited to those who like to feel a bit of a stretch or a full sensation, so that limits its appeal. If you want a more modest sized anal dildo, and prostate stimulation isn't a primary concern, then I'd happily recommend the Leo as great quality product.

The Leoweenie is no longer available, but you can find the regular Leo at Lovehoney.

Bathmate Diary Week 1

In my last post I introduced you all to the Bathmate penis pump that I'd been sent to test out, and one of the claims about the product is that not only will it increase the size of your penis, but that you can achieve a permanent enlargement in as little as 6 weeks.

It sounds like a pretty easy thing to do with only a fairly small investment of time and effort, so for the sake of science, and of course you my dear readers, I will be thoroughly putting this to the test and reporting back.

For at least 6 weeks I will be using the Bathmate Hydromax X30 every day for 20 mins, and recording my observations for a weekly summary. Check out the week 1 report below.

So it's the start of my Bathmate journey and we need to establish a baseline against which to judge all progress, so I'm going to do something which up until this point has miraculously never occurred on this blog, and that would be tell you the size of my penis. Better than that I'm even going to include a mock-up with the help of the website The Visualiser.

To make it a fair test I'm always going to measure from the same starting point, with the same ruler, and I'm going to ensure that I'm as hard as possible on each occasion. This last point is especially important because anyone with a penis will know that erections can vary in size, especially when you take into account the ability of the head to inflate and deflate independent of the shaft. Normally I'm an even 7", but it can be anywhere between 6 3/4" to 7 1/4" depending on my level of arousal. The girth on the other hand is pretty consistent at 5 3/8", so this should be easier to track.

Now you may read that and wonder exactly why I'm embarking on this, because I'm not noticeably lacking in that department. I have to say right now that I'm not secretly aspiring to be of porn star proportions or anything so vain, and indeed I've always been more than content with my size, but what I am really curious about is seeing if it can actually be done. I'm one of those people who doesn't believe anything unless I see it / experience it firsthand, and this is the only way that I'm going to be satisfied; I also hope it proves interesting for the people taking the time to read this. One point I will concede though is that I wouldn't mind some extra girth, and anyone who's seen my dildo collection will be aware that I love those thick ones that are 6" around the middle, so we shall see.

Let's get on with the important stuff:

Week 0:
Flaccid length: 4 1/2"
Flaccid circumference: 4 1/2"
Erect length: 7 1/4"
Erect circumference: 5 3/8"

I've been using the Bathmate for a week now. I started off in the bath, and this would be my preferred method in terms of ease of use and relaxation, but then I moved on to the shower just to save time and water. I've been doing it for 20 minutes each evening, with 4 sets of 5 minutes each, as is the recommended workout. It's quite a simple business and I don't find it too much of a bother to spend the time, though a shower strap definitely would come in handy right about now. I'm tempted to juryrig one just so I have my hands free. Since I've been doing the routine the most noticeable changes are that the skin along the shaft of my penis has become slightly darker, and there is a little tenderness around the base, but I wouldn't say that I'm concerned by either. I'd attribute both to possibly overdoing the pressure on occasions and causing some mild bruising, as at its maximum the suction can be really quite strong. I last pumped yesterday evening and the following measurements were taken this afternoon, just to ensure that any pump-related swelling had had time to go down and an accurate image was being presented.

Week 1:
Flaccid length: 4 1/2"
Flaccid circumference: 4 1/2"
Erect length: 7 1/4"
Erect circumference: 5 3/8"

Initial results after a week look as though there hasn't been any perceptible change. Honestly I wouldn't really have expected anything so soon, so I'm not about to get disheartened, but the man in the videos on the Bathmate website did record a slight increase after only a week, so I wouldn't have minded seeing 1/16" of growth somewhere just as evidence of it working. For now I'm going to keep at it and find out if we get a change by week 2. See you in another 7 days!

Tantus Stroker

The lovely Brianna over at Tantus recently asked me to put together a list of Tantus toys that I'd be interested in trying out, so I gladly obliged, and then the next thing I knew the Stroker turned up in the post much to my excitement.

Unfortunately the excitement didn't last for long because it soon transpired that "part A" wouldn't fit into "part B." At this point I didn't really know what to do, as I couldn't write a full review for a toy which I couldn't actually use, so I hemmed and hawed over it for a while, and desperately applied more lube to see if anything might budge. Now you can imagine my embarrassment, because I was essentially about to e-mail someone and say "I'm sorry, but my penis is too big for your toy." It almost doesn't sound like a serious complaint, and more like something that someone would invent for the sake of bragging "yo bro, my dick's too big for this thing; who's the man!?" (this is how I assume frat guys speak). Luckily Brianna was very understanding about the situation and was happy for me not to do the review if I didn't feel comfortable with it, and honestly my biggest concern was that anything I'd write would be unfair as I hadn't managed to use it properly.

I've decided that I am going to write a little overview of it now though, because from my experience I did gain a few insights into the product which I feel would be worth sharing with other guys contemplating buying it who may be a little larger than average.

The Stroker is Tantus's first foray into the world of male masturbators, and also the first 100% silicone male masturbation sleeve on the market. As usual Tantus is the company that's out there innovating, and that pleases me, even if the product turned out to be not quite to my tastes.

The Stroker is available in two sizes, a regular and an XL. I decided to go for the regular when I was putting together my wishlist, and I must bear some of the responsibility for that mistake. It's difficult to know which size to pick until you've actually had a chance to see one in person and feel the material. The XL is described as being "for the man who needs a little extra" and compared to most of the men I've been with I do have a fair bit extra, but compared to some of the porn star dildos I own I have a little less, so it was a tough call. The question is do you want to risk something which is going to be a little too tight or a little too loose? As it transpires with this toy you always want to err on the side of bigger.

The design of the Stroker is quite simple; it's a rather nondescript-looking hollow white tube with four evenly spaced ridges on the inside. In terms of discretion the Stroker scores very highly because even I wouldn't suspect that it was a sex toy if I didn't already know what it was. If you saw it lying around the house you might easily mistake it for a piece of pipe from a plumbing job. In total the toy measures 4 1/2" in length, with the widest internal diameter being 1 1/4" and the smallest only 3/4", so it needs to do a fair bit of stretching before it can be used. I've mocked up a cross-section of the toy on the right just to give an idea of what the interior is like, and as you can see the ridges are almost the shape of right-angled triangles, and remind me somewhat of the valves in veins, so you'd imagine that it would be easier to insert yourself in one direction rather than the other.

The Stroker is of course made from silicone, not a material you typically encounter in masturbators, and possibly for good reason. Silicone has a lot of advantages such as being odorless, non-porous, and body-safe, which makes it brilliant for a wide variety of other toys. As dual density dildos have taught us silicone comes in a multitude of different hardnesses, or "shores," and the Stroker is described as being "super-soft and stretchy" but respectfully I have to disagree with this point. If you play around with the toy in your hands then you'll find that the thinner areas do indeed stretch fairly well, but the sections of thicker material which form the ridges are surprisingly firm and inelastic, and attempting to stretch them out with a couple of fingers takes quite a lot of force. In my experience I've definitely encountered softer silicones, such as on the exterior of a Vixskin toy, but I don't know if limitations in that particular material would make it unsuitable for something like this.

Actually using the toy is where this mini-review hits a bit of a roadblock, as this is where I failed to have any success, but I will briefly outline my experience just to highlight the issues I had with the toy. The crux of the matter is really that I couldn't insert myself at all, not with all the lube and determination in the world. The thick sections of material around the ridges simply would not stretch sufficiently, and in fact the act of pushing my penis up against it merely caused all the blood to be forced from the head, rather than making the silicone ring widen. At one point the deflated head did manage to be squashed through the first ridge, but then another problem was encountered, because now that tight ring of silicone began to tug uncomfortably on the loose skin behind the head. Any thoughts of being able to insert the shaft at that point were quickly scuppered when it started to feel as though any more force would tear off my foreskin, and so it was necessary to abandon the attempt. Even removing my penis from that short distance into the toy was not especially comfortable.

What I learnt from the experience was that in order to enjoy the toy you need to meet three criteria: you need to have a below-average endowment, you need to be circumcised, and you need to like a lot of tight pressure when you masturbate, what's commonly referred to as the "deathgrip." If you meet all these then it might just be for you. For me none of the above apply, so I merely found it impractical and uncomfortable.

Later on I did discover one way in which I could make use of the toy, and that was by turning it inside out. Doing so widened the hole left in the centre, as well as leaving a smooth inner surface, which made it possible for me to get more of myself inside. Unfortunately it was a rather bland experience and felt less satisfying than just using a hand for masturbation.

So after all this what are my conclusions about the Stroker? Well it saddens me a little because this is the first Tantus toy which I didn't like and wouldn't be inclined to recommend. It's definitely a quality piece, and a unique one at that, made from good materials, but the design simply didn't work for me. I briefly considered giving the XL a shot but I can tell already that the outcome would be the same. I'm happy that Tantus made the effort because I'd far rather see quality silicone strokers on the market than smelly unsafe "jelly" disasters, and I'm sure that for some people out there this toy can be enjoyable, but sadly it's just not for people like me. I think that the only way I could enjoy a silicone masturbator would be if it was made from an incredibly soft silicone gel like the sort found in cosmetic implants. It's disappointing, but for now I'm going to put this idea to one side.

The Stroker and Stroker XL are available directly from Tantus.

    Pulse by Hot Octopus

Anyone who keeps up with my blog will know that I've been extolling the virtues of male vibrator use for a while now. Personally I just love it, whether it be a sophisticated contraption like the Cobra Libre, or simply repurposing a powerful bullet vibe like the Salsa or Form 2 to use on the most sensitive parts of the penis. The thing is though, that frankly there aren't a lot of vibrators actually marketed at men, but Hot Octopus are changing that now, and already I think that this may be my favourite new product of the year.

The Pulse is the first product released by a new British sex toy design company called Hot Octopus, and it's a vibrator created especially for men, or a "guybrator" as some of their literature describes it. It's primarily designed as a toy for solo use, but also with an application for couples if desired - albeit heterosexual couples so understandably I won't be focussing on that aspect.

The design of the toy is an exceptionally stylish thing to behold, and it's not easy to explain precisely what it looks like because the whole thing is pretty unique. I don't think it would appear out of place masquerading as a piece of alien technology on the set of a science fiction film, but back down on Earth the closest thing I could compare it to is a conch. The big sweeping sides that curl upwards like part of a shell definitely give the appearance of something which may have washed up on the beach, while the ridges along the underside are reminiscent of the fossilised remains of something prehistoric. The bottom half of the toy is made from a shiny black plastic, and this is where all the mechanics of the Pulse are housed, while the top half is made from a flexible matte silicone and forms a semi-enclosed channel into which the penis is inserted. The channel itself is about 4" in length, and 1 1/2" wide in its resting position, though the flexible silicone "wings" which enclose it can be easily bent to accommodate more width and create a snug fit. Towards the far end of the channel is a raised "button" which is the Pulse Plate - the source of the vibrations. This is positioned so that during use it will sit just below the glans and up against the frenulum - the most sensitive part of the penis. The whole unit is reasonably compact  and its ergonomic shape fits very comfortably into the hand. On either side of the body is a button, a + for more power and a - for less, and these are easily accessible when holding the unit.

The build quality of the Pulse is of a very high standard and it looks particularly well made, and not at all cheap. It also feels quite robust so I would expect it to be quite durable down the line.

Using the Pulse is quite a straightforward matter; to start with you simply spread the "wings" of the device and insert your penis so that it aligns properly with the pulse plate. The "wings" are flexible enough to spread by a large amount and accept a broad range of penis sizes, as I discovered by inserting various anatomically-correct dildos into the toy. One thing I did notice though is that the "wings" are flexible mainly at the top half, and not towards the bottom, so while the top section can become almost infinitely wider the bottom of the channel always retains the same semi-circular shape. Where this could cause an issue is that most penises don't have a completely circular cross-section and are wider from left to right than from top to bottom, so depending on the size and shape of the penis you may find that once inserted to the fullest extent the shaft may hover above the Pulse Plate without actually making direct contact. This probably won't be an issue for most people, but if your penis is very wide in one direction, and not so much in the other, then it's worth bearing in mind. Because of the way in which you insert yourself you don't actually need to use lube with the Pulse which is an added convenience. You can of course still do so if it's your preference, but I didn't find it necessary.

To turn the Pulse on you start by simply pressing the + button once and it begins on the lowest setting. Boy are you in for a surprise. When I talk about strong, powerful, deep rumbly vibrations, this is precisely what I'm thinking about. For a non-mains-powered unit the strength and quality of the vibrations is truly spectacular; it's almost like holding a Magic Wand vibrator to the head of your penis and it blows the Fun Factory Cobra Libre out of the water by a mile. Bear in mind this is only the first setting and it keeps on getting stronger each time you press the + button, so this astonishing level of power only continues to grow. There are times with other vibrators where they feel pretty strong, and good, but I just can't get over that plateau and climax, so I return to traditional masturbation to get there. That's never going to be the case with the Pulse, because if you've tried vibrators before with little luck, and are convinced that your penis is stubborn to their effects, then I'm certain that the Pulse would soon change that. Even on the lowest setting I feel as though I could reach orgasm in only a matter of seconds because of how intense and wonderful the feeling is. On the flipside the fact that the lowest setting is so strong means that it's not so easy to tease yourself with the toy. When you're starting at orgasm strength you can't really get a steady build up, and if things are suddenly too much and you want to prolong it more then the only place to go is off. It really is testament to how strong the toy is that I'm saying this, because normally I ignore the lower levels and go straight to maximum. To give another perspective, the intended way of using the toy is with the foreskin retracted and the Pulse Plate directly touching the sensitive inner tissues of the penis, but I tried it with the foreskin left covering the head and the vibrations were still strong enough to work their way through and make it very pleasurable, which is good news for any guys out there with foreskin troubles who would still like to try a sex toy.

The Pulse has only a constant vibration setting, rather than including patterns as well such as with the Cobra Libre  and what you make of this is going to be down to preference. Personally I'm fine with it and find that constant vibration works best for me on the penis, and I don't need a load of patterns on top of that to confuse matters, but others may prefer something rhythmic to imitate the ebb and flow of thrusting, and this happens to be absent. When you're cycling through the vibration strengths with the + and - buttons, holding the - down for a second or two will quickly power off the whole unit, just in case you need to do it in a dash, which is always useful.

The idea behind the Pulse is that much like the Cobra Libre it's a toy where you insert yourself and allow it to do its work, rather than it being a thrusting toy, and in fact it's suggested that it can be used entirely hands-free. I found that the hand-free approach didn't work so well for me and I got the best effect from it when I held it in the palm of one hand and used my thumb to apply pressure to the top of the shaft and push my penis into the Pulse Plate so that it made full contact. By themselves the silicone "wings" aren't quite enough to grip it so sufficiently as to achieve this effect without some outside force. For solo use I wouldn't really consider this as a criticism, but for couples use you may want to have both hands available to do other things with.

The only point about the Pulse which I'd list as a proper negative is the noise, because it is louder than other vibrators I have. It's up there in electric shaver / electric toothbrush territory. It's not crazy or ridiculous, it's still within the bounds of acceptability, but it's louder than I'd like. If you're someone who's in a living situation where you're concerned about other people hearing your sex toys, then I might be concerned about this one. It's a case where you'd want to drown it out with the TV to be safe.

The Pulse is a fully rechargeable toy and it comes with a USB cable which plugs into a port in the rear. The port is sealed by a little silicone stopper which easily comes out, though which can be reluctant to stay in place when you try to put it back in again. Unfortunately because of the charging system the Pulse isn't waterproof, in fact it isn't even advertised as being slashproof, and they recommend that at the most you wipe it over with a damp cloth. This is a little bit of an inconvenience, but at the same time the design of the toy means that you probably won't be getting bodily fluids all over it anyway.

Overall I'd have to say that I really would recommend the Pulse, and considering that it's the first effort from a new company I think they have done spectacularly. It's not perfect, but Hot Octopus are off to a flying start and I can only expect great things from them in the future. The Pulse is a really well made toy, it uses quality materials, it's insanely powerful, it's easy to use, and it's practically guaranteed to be able to give you a great orgasm. The only downsides are the noise, the fact that it's not waterproof, and that it might not quite suit all penis size/shape combinations, but in the big picture I think that these can be overlooked because of how it really excels on its strengths. Compared to the current market-leading male vibrator, the Cobra Libre  it's the Pulse that I would be inclined to recommend.

The Pulse is available now from SexToys.co.uk
