Toy with me TuesdayAmongst the sex toy blogging community people are always saying that the Tantus Handle dildos look just like lightsabers, so I decided to go one further and pair up the Goddess Handle and Echo Handle with a puzzle bust of Darth Vader that I put together as a kid. Which side of the force are you going to be on?

Fun Factory Bootie

March is proving to be a jam-packed month on the review front, and I still have a couple more to squeeze in before Easter. This week Adult Sensations have kindly sent me the Fun Factory Bootie butt plug to review for them.

Adult Sensations is a Canadian company, so a big shout out to my Commonwealth buddies over in the Great White North.

The Bootie is one of a pair of similarly-shaped plugs that Fun Factory makes, with the other being the Boosty. It's obvious that they purposely chose names which were alike to indicate the close relationship, but it can be ever so slightly confusing trying to remember which is which.

The Bootie is the smaller of the two toys and features a much smoother design. If I were to categorise the plugs then I'd say the Bootie is intended more as a starter toy, while the Boosty is something designed to appeal to the more comfortable anal user, with its larger size and bumpy shape.

In terms of dimensions the Bootie has an insertable length of 2 3/4" and a maximum circumference of 3 1/2", so it really is quite tiny. In fact, depending on your monitor settings, it's almost identical to the size shown in the image above. If you've never tried using an anal toy before in your life then you're certainly not going to look at this with any trepidation, and it should really suit beginners.

Like all Fun Factory products the Bootie is manufactured in Germany from 100% food-grade silicone, giving you a toy which is not only completely body-safe, but non-porous and odourless too. Because it is quite a small toy the silicone is a little on the firmer size so that it holds its shape, so don't expect too much give in the surface when you try to squeeze it. There is, however, just the right amount of flex in the neck and base, so it's clearly a case of expertly tailoring the right material for the job. The construction quality of the plug is very high overall, and it has a velvety-soft matte finish on the surface. The only slight complaint I can pick up on is that there is a mould line running the full length of the toy, as well a small divot in the base indicating where the raw silicone was injected into the mould. I say it's a "slight" complaint because the mould line is barely raised at all, and you can hardly feel it when running your fingers over the toy unless you're specifically looking for it.

The plug is available in a selection of two colours: there's a lovely blackcurrant shade of purple like the one in the image I chose for the review, and also a rather less interesting black which I ended up receiving. I must say that both purples and blacks are fairly common colours for sex toys, so Fun Factory aren't really rocking the boat here, which is a shame when you compare it to some of the reds and turquoises they've made use of elsewhere.

The Bootie has a fairly simplistic shape, but also with a couple of subtle quirks thrown in. My favourite aspect of the design is the base, which is actually quite similar to that of the Tantus Twist, but I dare say I prefer it slightly. The base isn't that much wider than the shaft of the toy itself, but it is long and surfboard-shaped, which makes the plug completely anal-safe, all while being quite discreet. Atop the base is the neck of the plug; this is about an inch and a quarter long, and with a 2 1/4" circumference, and you'll find the words "Fun Factory" embossed lightly on one side. Beyond the neck the plug widens and curves over to one side, forming the main body of the toy, and looking rather like the bud of a bulb that's just poked its head above ground in the early weeks of Spring.

I must confess that when I first got the plug I was a little disappointed, mainly because I'd overestimated the size of it, and wasn't confident that anything so small could really be of any practical use to me. I'm glad to say that I was wrong about that, however, and I shall explain why. The Bootie is actually a truly lovely plug to use, and it starts off by being easy to insert. The slightly matte surface clings on to water-based lubes well, and the rounded tip slips into the body without resistance. For a complete anal-novice it really shouldn't be any sort of a struggle to get it inserted, so I imagine that it would be a nice introduction to butt plugs. As soon as you push the widest point through the muscle the neck and base of the plug immediately slide into place. The neck is long enough to give the muscles plenty of space to sit and grip onto the toy, while the slimline base slots itself between the buttocks and feels incredibly comfortable. The base couldn't be less obtrusive if it tried; the rounded edges don't poke you or dig in at all, and you can sit down on it and walk around with it all while barely being aware of its presence. I'd guess that you could even sleep with it in and not be disturbed.

The plug sits securely in the body for two reasons, one because the neck is narrower than the widest point, and two because of the way the tip of the plug hooks over and almost anchors itself in place. I felt no slippage whatsoever, and this is coming from someone who's fully inserted the Tantus A-Bomb in the past, so I think that says something. This gives you the freedom to wear it during sex, or go out with it in, all without worry of it suddenly escaping. Clearly, when you consider the size of it, the Bootie isn't going to be the most filling plug in the world, but what I like about it actually comes down to the shape of it. That little curved tip just pokes you nicely in the base of the prostate, in a way which is enough to feel pleasant for users new and experienced alike. The design even seems to work better than some of the rigid specialist prostate toys I've used, which always seem to overestimate the depth of the gland and instead poke you in the bladder. Undoubtedly the more novice users will get more out of it, and I think the added dimension of subtle prostate stimulation will definitely make it make it worth their while, but my overriding fear had been that I'd just insert it and feel empty and bored, but that simply wasn't the case. That little prod in the prostate was enough to make the plug interesting for me, interesting enough for me to wear it the whole day. More experienced users would still probably want to look first to the larger Boosty, but that doesn't mean that the Bootie should be ruled out altogether; it definitely has something to offer, especially for couples sharing toys who are at difference stages in what they're able to insert.

Once you're done with the plug it comes out nice and easily again; the broad base makes a convenient handle to grab onto and help remove it, while the gentle curving shape of the shaft ensures no discomfort as it travels in reverse. After that it's simply a matter of popping it in the sink with some anti-bacterial soap and hot water to clean it, though as it's silicone it can also be sterilised with boiling water or a mild bleach solution.

The packaging for the plug is nice and small and discreet, which is what I like because it's not bulky or wasteful. I'm not sure I'd really keep it for storage purposes, but it is an option. Fun Factory handily include a multilingual instruction pamphlet and a sachet of their water-based lube, so you can get going straight out of the box.

I have to say that I really would recommend the Bootie plug, especially to novices and beginners, but it really did exceed my expectations as someone who's used dozens of different plugs. It's well constructed from a great material, it stays in place, it's easy to insert, it feels comfortable for long term wear, and it has a great little shape that will stimulate the prostate. It has all the key elements you want in a good plug, so you can't really go wrong.

Tenga Flip Hole White

The other day I received a quite unexpected message from the people at Tenga. It turned out that they'd seen my review of the Flip Hole Red, and appreciated my honest assessment so much that they wanted to offer me an original White Flip Hole to try out as well.

There are currently different four different Flip Holes available - White, Black, Red, and Silver - each with its own completely unique texture inside. Apparently the White is the most popular all round choice in the series, so I've been really looking forward to the opportunity to compare and contrast it with the Red. You can get a quick run down on the differences between them all here.

Now that the package has made its way to me straight from the neon lights of Tokyo, you can catch the review after the jump!

I thought I'd start this review today with a quick look at the packaging for the Flip Hole. This isn't something which ordinarily I'd do, but when Lovehoney sent me the Flip Hole Red to test for them it didn't come with any packaging, only a polythene sandwich bag with it inside, so I'd like to take this opportunity to fill in any gaps in my previous review.

The Flip Holes come packaged in a simple clear-plastic cylinder, slightly larger than the toy itself, and sealed up with cellophane to prevent tampering. The two end pieces are quite thick and solid, with recesses in them to hold the product in place, while the central tube section is thinner and more flimsy, and has the name of the product printed on it. It's actually a really nice piece of packaging because not only is it fairly minimal, but it displays and showcases the product well, while also being a convenient place to store it. The end caps of the tube pop off nice and easily, and there's an adequate amount of room between the Flip Hole and the sides of the packaging to allow you to get your fingers in there and lift it out.

Along with the Flip Hole itself the packaging also includes a small instruction pamphlet clipped beneath the base cap, as well as three phials of different lubricants which sit behind the Flip Hole in the tube. What I love about this is not only do they include lubricant so you can use the product straight out of the box, but they give you a selection to choose from, and the re-sealable phials resemble test tubes from chemistry lessons at school. In this regard it's far superior to the 5ml sachets of "Fleshlube" which come with every Fleshjack. I'm going to concentrate on the product itself for now, so I'll leave a thorough review of each of the lubes for a later date.

The Flip Hole has a rather unique design in the world of male masturbation aids, and one which sets it aside from many of its competitors. It comes in two pieces, the main body of the toy, and a separate end cap which plays an integral part in how the toy functions. Both the case and the cap are made of a solid ABS plastic, which in this instance is white. The main case of the toy features two long oval-shaped windows cut out of each side, revealing the translucent TPE material which lines the interior. Because of these windows you can actually touch the TPE whilst you're using the toy, which is slightly unusual but not really an issue. Strangely enough on my Flip Hole Red I noted that the TPE felt very sticky, but this wasn't the case at all here, which makes me slightly wonder what happened to the Red one before I got it, but I digress. If you look closely at the windows you'll notice that within the TPE is embedded a thin sheet of plastic on each side, and this protrudes through the surface in the form of six white buttons. The purpose of these "buttons" is to allow you to squeeze them and apply pressure to the penis whilst using the Flip Hole.

What's unique about the Flip Hole is that the body of the case can actually be opened in half along a hinge at one end, and here's where the end cap comes into play. The cap has two long arms which extend up the sides of the case to lock the two halves together. When the toy isn't in use you place the cap over the opening to protect it, much like you would with any other masturbator, but when you are using the toy you slide the cap onto the opposite end, so that that it leaves the opening free but still holds the case firmly together. It's a rather clever design in my opinion.

Looking at the Flip Hole overall it is quite an attractive little toy, and vaguely space-age in appearance. It's also quite a compact device, and smaller than your standard Fleshjack. In total it's only 7" in height, and around the circumference it measures 9", making it something which is comfortable to hold in one hand, as well as being easy to grip onto.

The key feature of the Flip Hole is undoubtedly it's aforementioned ability to be completely opened up and unfolded into two halves, and this is something which naturally carries with it its own set of pros and cons. My experiences with the Flip Hole Red left me rather sceptical about the merits this design feature, and I came down more heavily on the 'con' side, so it should be interesting to see how my opinions may have changed as I go through the various aspects again.

The first big benefit to having a mastubator which opens is when it comes to applying lube; instead of having to try to squirt some through a tiny aperture, you can simply unfold the Flip Hole and spread the lube copiously over the interior. It makes it much easier to get a nice even coverage over the whole length, and into every nook and cranny of the texture.

The second big benefit is almost the reverse of the first, because it involves washing it. Cleaning the Flip Hole couldn't be more simple: you simply open it, rinse out the inside, then leave it open until it dries. It's so much less hassle than cleaning a Fleshjack, and it dries faster too. You can even balance it on the arms of the end cap to use it like a drying rack.

The first issue you're likely to encounter surrounds the orifice of the toy. The opening is only 2cm in diameter, which isn't incredibly wide to begin with, but this then only extends into the toy for a depth of 2cm before it's completely blocked off by a solid section of material which acts like a diaphragm. When you insert yourself into the toy, instead of the material stretching to accommodate the girth of the penis like it would with a Fleshjack, it stretches slightly, then the two halves split apart, and the material around the opening bursts outwards and down the shaft. As is happens this doesn't actually affect the performance of the Flip Hole, but it does look unusual, and gives you the impression that it's not supposed to happen. There is a benefit to that diaphragm-section, however, at that's that it does prevent any lube or bodily fluids from escaping through the orifice of the toy once you've withdrawn your penis.

The next issue is that the toy isn't airtight and it tends to leak out air all along the divide between the two halves. This has two consequences: one, you don't get a strong sensation of suction like you do with some other masturbators, and two, that it can be quite noisy and produce a lot of popping, squelching, and reverberating sounds.

The inside of the Flip Hole has a 6" long cavity, and as I mentioned at the start each colour has a different interior texture. I can wholeheartedly say that I like the texture of the White immeasurably more than the Red. My first issue with the Red was that it had no real canal built into it, so it felt like my penis was simply being squashed between two halves of material, and this had the effect of only stimulating the top and bottom of it. The White is completely different in this regard, when you look at the material you can clearly see that it has a central groove running along it, with material extending upwards from the surface, and this has the effect of stimulating all around the penis, both the top, bottom, and the sides. The result is much much more satisfying. If I were to really focus on everything then I would probably say that you get a slightly less all-encompassing feel than you do with a Fleshjack, but it's not something that you're actually going to be focussing on during use, and it won't even draw your attention unless you're specifically looking for it. It really does give you great all-round stimulation.

The other thing I love about the White is actually the details of the texture itself. For me the Red was just bland and felt like bumps, bumps, and more bumps, none of which delivered any overly satisfying sensations. Again the White is far superior in this regard and I really enjoyed what it had to offer. The array of ribs and nodules all produce a wonderful feeling, which varies from light brushing and tickling to a deep massaging sensation. I found it all very pleasurable, whether I was thrusting with long slow strokes, or more quickly. One of the neat things around the Flip Holes is that there's a slightly different texture on each side, and you can definitely differentiate them during use. The differences can be a little subtle but it's enough to offer variety, so if you've become slightly too accustomed to one side you simply withdraw yourself, flip it, and start again. The fact that it's not quite the same is something which your brain immediately picks up on, and it pulls you back into the experience. I especially like part of the texture which they call the "end orb" and this feels truly fantastic along the frenulum, especially right when you're ready for climax. This observation contrasts with the Red which I found almost indistinguishable from side to side.

When you're in the midst of using the Flip Hole quite a surprising amount of the inner material does bulge out of the windows on either side of the case. In this way the material tends to largely displace itself rather than stretching to make room for what's inside. Because of this if you want to get a significantly tight sensation then you will need to squeeze the aforementioned "buttons" on either side. This process actually works very effectively, and the ability to adjust the pressure is an enjoyable feature to have on hand. I found that it far outperforms the functionality of the soft-case Fleshjack Sword in this regard, and offers more versatility. It's quite fun to play around with and experiment where and when to add the pressure, and to what degree. It does require a certain level of continuous adjustment during thrusting though, if you've found a level of pressure that you like best and want to try to keep it constant.

The Flip Hole White delivers a far more natural sensation than the Red. I'm not sure that I could go as far as saying that it feels realistic, but whereas the Red felt vaguely alien the White gives sex-like sensations more akin to those produced by other high quality masturbators. Either way end result is very enjoyable no matter how you try to classify it.

The toy is perhaps a little more awkward to warm up than a Fleshjack, because the material inside is permanently attached to the hard outer case, so you need to submerge the whole thing in a basin of hot water. Personally I wouldn't bother as they never seem to hold their heat for long, and it just creates more hassle and mess.

On the whole I have to say that I really love the Flip Hole White, and it's almost a relief to be able to utter those words. Possibly the most disappointing thing about the Red was actually the fact that it was disappointing. The Flip Hole design always seemed to me like it had a lot of potential, and now I'm glad that I'm finally able to say that I like one. It's truly amazing how much difference a change in the design of the texture can really make. I can safely say to anyone that I give my full recommendation to the Flip Hole White. It feels absolutely fantastic to use and it's so easy to clean afterwards; it's definitely a serious rival to the Fleshjack on all fronts. If you're thinking about a Flip Hole then start with this one!

Big thanks to Tenga for sending this one to me; you've given me a whole new level of faith in your brand.

Nexus Revo 2

A couple of weeks ago the folks over at Strawberry Blushes got in touch with me and asked if I'd like to review a product for them, and out of all the wonderful items to choose from in their catalogue, the one which stuck out to me the most was the Nexus Revo 2, so I was thrilled when they generously agreed to send it to me.

The Revo 2 is the successor to the original Nexus Revo prostate massager, which as it happens is a product that I've had my eye on for quite a while now. The Revo 2 was only announced at the end of last year, and up until recently hasn't been widely available to purchase, so it's always fun to try out something so new.

When you think about choosing a prostate massager, generally there are only two main considerations to take in terms of functionality: do you want something that's manually operated or hands-free, and do you want something which vibrates or something which doesn't? Beyond that your choices are pretty limited, which is what makes the Revo line so special, because they really are a first of their kind. What the Revo offers that other prostate massagers don't is motion, physical motion. It's actually not at all uncommon to see toys for women with moving parts, such as many rabbit vibrators with shafts that rotate and twitch about, so naturally I've always wondered why nothing like that existed in a prostate toy for men. It makes me rather please, consequently, to see that now something like that does indeed exist. The name 'Revo' is short for the dword revolve, because that's precisely what the shaft of this toy does, and what sets it apart from every other product in this category.

Physically the Revo 2 is quite similar in design to other prostate massagers, and has that distinctively-shaped insertable portion which you'll recognise from the G-Rider. Alongside this it features a standard forward-projecting arm designed to sit flush against the perineum, and this forms part of quite a large and bulky base section which houses both the battery and presumably the mechanism to rotate the shaft.

The Revo 2 is made from a combination of ABS plastic, and silicone which coats insertable sections. It has a two-tone colour scheme allowing you to visually differentiate between the plastic and silicone portions. On mine it has a black silicone section, while the plastic area is Playstation-grey, but it's also available with the colours reversed. Aesthetically it does look quite nice, though there's a certain inescapable cheapness that I find associated with the appearance of grey plastic. I recall seeing the original Revo in a purple option, so it's a shame that they didn't carry that through to the Revo 2, as I do enjoy a splash of colour in my toys. The choice of materials for the toy is great as both the plastic and silicone are completely odourless, non-porous, and body-safe, so you can feel confident when using the product.

The construction of the Revo 2 is done to a high standard, with the possible exception of the occasional mould line here and there, but these blend in quite subtly with the soft velvety finish of the matte silicone layer, and can barely be felt. One of the big differences with the design of the Revo 2 is that it's now waterproof, which should make cleaning it a far more simple affair.

The other major difference with the Revo 2 is that it's rechargeable, and that's a change which I'm glad to see they made, as for a toy of this price I'd expect not to have to be dealing with batteries. Like the Ego E4 the Revo 2 is supplied only with a USB charging cable. I must say that I'm not a huge fan of this practice as I don't enjoy having countless devices plugged into my computer to charge, though I can see how it might benefit people who travel a lot and are happy to charge things from their laptops. There is always the option of buying an adaptor plug which will allow you to plug your standard usb charging cable into an ordinary power socket, but it does mean an added expense on top of an already pricey toy. The charging cable connects to the Revo 2 magnetically, and it attaches firmly enough to do the job adequately, though the design behind it isn't quite up to the standard of the Fun Factory Click 'n' Charge system. You can leave the Revo 2 sat in a variety of positions, and the charger seems to say put quite happily, which is useful because the rounded underside of the Revo 2 makes it hard to stand upright.

The Revo 2 is operated by a large round button towards the front of the base, and it has six settings: slow revolution, slow revolution with constant vibration, slow revolution with rapid pulses of vibrations, faster revolution, faster revolution with constant vibration, and faster revolution with rapid pulses of vibrations. You press the button once to turn the toy on, and this starts the tip of the shaft moving around in a clockwise direction, then you press the button again to cycle through each of the settings until finally it turns off again. unfortunately there is no way to quickly turn the device off altogether, nor to have it turn on and already be set to your favourite mode.

When it comes to using the toy it is rather comfortable to insert, though it may present a slight challenge for beginners to anal play, as the tip of the shaft is rather blunt and has a 4" circumference. As such I'd recommend a warm up toy in this circumstance. Once it is inserted, and not yet activated, it does just feel like any other prostate massager, though immediately the shortcomings of the large and cumbersome base start to become apparent. Unfortunately because the base is so large you simply can't sit on it, at least not in a manner which is at all comfortable. This is a disappointment for me because I do prefer to assume a more seated position on the bed when using toys such as this.

Once you turn on the Revo 2 and start to experience to motion of the shaft it becomes apparent that there's a bit of a design flaw. The initial sensations coming from the rotations are quite subtle and not all that easy to feel, and then you realise the reason why. If you look down at the device you'll see that the base is moving around quite a lot outside the body, and as a result the shaft is moving less internally. There's nothing to hold the base in a stationary position, so it's a bit like holding a helicopter by the rotors and having the body of the craft spin around instead. The only way to try to counter this is to a.) hold the base in place with your hand, which then makes it no longer a hands-free toy, or b.) hold it firmly in place against a surface by sitting on it, which as I mentioned earlier is not comfortable, so neither solution is ideal.

When you have successfully secured the base you'll discover that the motion of the shaft can be felt much more strongly inside the body, which unfortunately brings me to the next problem. The shaft is too long. Now the shaft is in fact only 4" long, which doesn't sound like a great deal, but the thing is that the prostate is not 4" deep inside the body. When you can really feel that shaft moving you can feel exactly where it's touching, and every time that head moved around in a full circle it felt as though I was being poked firmly right in the back of the bladder. For me being poked in the bladder is a little uncomfortable, and doesn't really increase my sexual appetite, so every time I tried the toy I just couldn't seem to enjoy the way this felt. What I did discover though was that if I pulled the toy about halfway out, and held the base firmly in place, then as the toy rotated the head would actually hit my prostate, and it felt pretty nice in the process. This was a little frustrating though, because it proved that the concept could work in principle, but that the design was just at fault. Had the shaft been an inch or two shorter then I could be raving about it right now instead of being critical. What I originally liked about the toy was the idea that something electronic could duplicate that "come hither" motion that people use to stimulate the prostate with their fingers, and had it managed to achieve that then it would have been fantastic. It came so near, yet it was also so far off.

The other aspect of the function is that it can be set to vibrate along with the physical movement. The source of the vibrations appears to be located down in the base of the toy, which is unsurprising considering all the mechanics going on in the shaft. The vibrations aren't the strongest in the world, but what's unusual is that they appear to get buried inside the toy. I wouldn't expect to really be able to feel them at the tip of the insertable section, but you can't feel them that strongly along the perineum arm either. The vibrations just don't seem to travel up to the surface of the toy and focus anywhere along it, instead they seem to get lost deep within the base of the toy and dissipate out in all directions. All you get is a vague tingle emanating equally from everywhere and it doesn't add much to the experience, whether set to constant or pulses.

One nice thing about the toy is that it isn't overly noisy. It isn't completely quiet, and you do get a strange mechanical whirring noise going on when it's activated, alongside the humming of the vibrations, but it's mostly unobtrusive to hear, and it won't be audible to anyone in another room.

The Revo 2 does come inside a lovely black cardboard presentation box, which helps to make it feel expensive and luxurious, and included with it is a black cloth drawstring pouch for everyday storage.

On the whole I'm probably not going to recommend the Revo 2 to anyone, and by this point that shouldn't come as a surprise. I really do love the idea behind it, and the fact that Nexus have gone and created something quite innovative, but the performance of it really just doesn't work for me. The clincher here really has to be the price though, because it does currently retail for £120, and I just couldn't justify spending that amount of money on it. If you're spending over £100 on a toy then you're really going to expect a lot of bang for your buck, and not something which vibrates meekly whilst prodding you in the bladder. It was definitely an interesting experience for me to try out, and an educational one at that, but unfortunately not one I would have been happy to pay for the pleasure of. My quest for the perfect prostate massager is destined to continue for now.

If you're interested in the Nexus Revo 2 then you can buy one from StrawberryBlushes.co.uk, and I thank them for sending it to me to review.

Jimmyjane Form 2

I was chatting to Sam from Simply Pleasure the other day about my review of the Jimmyjane Hello Touch, and she enquired whether or not there was anything else from the Jimmyjane range that I fancied taking a look at. On the whole Jimmyjane products do seem rather geared towards women, but as I've expressed before I am a man who enjoys vibrators, so the unusual design of the Form 2 immediately caught my eye. If one vibrating motor can feel amazing when pin-pointed on the most sensitive parts of the penis, then imagine what it would be like with two. Now that I have one it's time to put that theory to the test!

I'm going to start this review with a brief disclaimer of sorts: this is in fact my second Jimmyjane Form 2 in so many days, as the first one I received wasn't particularly enthusiastic about working. It's not the only time I've had a toy that showed up DOA (if you remember my Cobra Libre episode last year), but I will say one thing, if ever you have a problem with anything you purchase from Simply Pleasure, then there are some lovely people there who will really go out of their way to make sure you get a replacement ASAP. Jimmyjane themselves also offer a 3-year limited warranty on their products, so if something goes awry you're safe in the knowledge that you're covered.

The Form 2 is a multi-award-winning product from Jimmyjane's luxury collection of rechargeable vibrators, so already it has a fair amount to live up to. There are four products in total in the Form collection, numbered 2, 3, 4, & 6, and no, I don't know what happened to 1 & 5 either. I'm resisting the urge to make a portmanteau of "Form" and "Fibonnaci" in an attempt to create a witty descriptive for this unusual numerical sequence, but if there's one thing I've learnt it's not to question how sex toy designers name their products; in that regard I'm like Captain Janeway and temporal paradoxes, and not doing so definitely helps to avoid some headaches.

The design of the Form 2 is that of a small pocket-sized vibrator which fits conveniently into the palm of your hand. It's intended to be used solely for external stimulation, and the shape is somewhat reminiscent of the "ears" on a traditional rabbit vibrator, so you can see where they were going with the concept. It does almost look as though it could be the head of a bunny from a claymation film, though one friend I showed it to was convinced that it reminded him of a tooth. It has a nice rounded body which is easy to hold, and which is where the buttons to operate it are located, then from the top two finger-sized protrusions emerge, each of which contains a separate vibrating motor.

The Form 2 is available in two colour options: a very bright shade of pink and a more subdued slate-grey. Neither of these are what I would ordinarily describe as my favourite choices, but the slate is actually really nice when you see it in person. It's neither a lifeless grey, nor a severe black, but rather the hue of an attractive pebble you might pick up on a beach, so it works.

The exterior of the vibrator is coated with a nice layer of velvety silicone, and the whole thing appears to be built to a high quality. There is the notable presence of a mould line running all around the toy, which isn't actually that uncommon in my experience, but what is unusual is just how pronounced the line is. There's a definite raised seam travelling along the sides of the toy and right up to the tip of each finger, and it feels quite firm to the touch. Usually when companies find it unavoidable to have a mould line on their vibrators' silicone coating they go to great lengths to minimise it and make it as subtle as possible, but I see no evidence of that here. It's a slightly strange thing to behold, especially on a high-end product from a luxury toy manufacturer. One of the big advantages of the silicone coating is that it completely seals up the toy into one enclosed unit, meaning it's waterproof as the electronics are all locked away inside. The other benefits are to do with the material itself because silicone is odourless, non-porous, and completely body-safe, so you can feel confident when you're using it.

The Form 2 has a selection of five power levels and four different vibration modes to choose from, and these are controlled by three buttons located on the front of the toy. The (+) button turns the toy on and increases the power level incrementally, while the (-) button decreases the power and eventually turns the toy off again.  Pressing the (~) button while the toy is active will cycle through the different vibration modes. The toy has a couple of useful features to offer involving the buttons: one is that the Form 2 will always remember your chosen pattern, so when you turn the vibrator off and back on again it'll be set to the last mode you were using. The second is that is has a travel lock which is activated by pressing (+) and (~) simultaneously for 3 seconds, so you can take the Form 2 away with you assured that it won't accidentally turn on in your luggage.

The vibrations on the Form 2 are lovely and strong, especially on the higher power levels, and it's quite impressive for a rechargeable toy. You'll find that the vibrations really focus right at the tip of each finger, which is precisely where you want them to be at their strongest. The amplitude of the vibrations is in the medium to rumbly range, and in terms of both intensity and rumbliness the Form 2 is less powerful than the We-Vibe Salsa,  but while still having a commendable amount of strength to it.

The four patterns on offer are as follows: constant, random jitter, a slow increase and decrease in power, and a series of rapid pulses. Having only 4 patterns is a little less than some other vibrators offer, but they cover all the main bases and nothing especially stands out as being missing. Sometimes having too many patterns can be detrimental as they start to employ strange sequences, and it takes too long to cycle through them all to find the one you want, so I'm quite content with four

The Form 2 is a wonderful toy to use on the penis, and the smooth silicone glides easily over the surface of the skin with very little drag, eliminating the necessity of lube. I'm pleased to say that the raised mould lines around the tips really weren't noticeable to me during use, and that was something of a relief as the last thing you want is to feel scratching on the genitals. My original hypothesis was that the two fingers would work nicely when placed either side of the frenulum, and I'm glad to be able to report that I was correct. The frenulum is one of the most sensitive and nerve-rich areas of the penis, and typically when using a vibrator you would stimulate it directly, so indirectly stimulating all around it produces a wonderful alternative sensation. It's especially nice to slide the tips up and down the length of the entire shaft, nestling them below the head when you reach the top. The two fingers have a gap of around 1cm between them at their widest point, but they're both flexible allowing you to squeeze them together for more pinpointed stimulation, or even just to pinch the frenulum gently between them.

The dual motors in the tips work very harmoniously together for the most part and compliment each other. The only real exception to this is with the jittery pattern, which doesn't always seem to function at the highest power setting unless you squeeze the fingers together slightly. In a technical sense this may be considered a fault, or a flaw in the design, but it's so minor that it doesn't especially bother me. In general my preference is to use the constant setting whilst moving the vibrator about, and this stimulates both the surface of the skin and has the vibrations penetrate deep into the shaft. It can also be pleasurable to hold the side of the vibrator flat against the shaft of the penis and set it to one of the pulsating patterns. However you choose to use it you can be assured that it can produce an orgasm swiftly if that is the desired effect, but by reducing the power and dancing around the periphery of the most sensitive areas you can really prolong a sense of teasing and titillation.

The Form 2 may not be as powerful as the We-Vibe Salsa but it does make up for it through its design. Having the two motors really gives it some versatility and makes it especially enjoyable to use, all the more so if you're looking for variety.

The Form 2 is a rechargeable toy and this is accomplished by the use of a handy charging cradle which fits any product in the Form range. The base of the cradle has two magnetic contacts which match up with with a metal ring on the underside of the toy, and you simply pop it into place to charge. A light comes on on the toy to let you know that it's being charged, and you can leave it there for as long as you like as overcharging isn't possible. There is some slight confusion over the recommended length of the initial charge, with the manual suggesting 8 hours and the Jimmyjane website only 2, but I'd err on the side of longer just to be careful, so you don't want to be too impatient when you first get it.

The charging cradle of course must be plugged into the mains, and it comes with another one of these universal power adaptors which I first encountered with the Silver Swan vibrator the other week, and again with the Palm Power. As far as the geek in me is concerned they're quickly becoming one of my favourite things. The charger comes in two separate parts: there's a transformer connected to the power lead which plugs into the cradle, and then there's a selection of different prongs which clip onto the transformer, depending on where in the world you want you use it. There are four different attachments in total, one for the UK, EU countries, Australia/New Zealand, and North America/Japan. The prongs clip on slightly less firmly than on the previous universal adaptors I've experienced, but it's enough to form a secure unit, and it's a simple button push to pop them back off again and switch them. For added peace of mind the button is located in a position where it can't be touched while the charger is plugged into a socket, so there's no chance of accidentally separating it while live current is flowing. The design is convenient in two ways, firstly because you can buy a Form product anywhere and know that it'll work when you get home without the need for adaptors, and secondly because you can customise the charger when you're planning to travel abroad on holiday.

The Form 2 comes in some rather nice packaging; it's simple, tasteful, everything you want really. The Form 2 itself and the base of the charging dock come held securely in a white plastic insert within the box, while the universal adaptor is bundled up within a smaller box inside the box. One thing I will say is that the Form 2 doesn't come with a storage pouch, which is odd for a high-end toy. Nearly every other manufacturer will throw in a simple cloth pouch along with their vibrator once you reach a certain price point. There is the option to buy a separate pouch from Jimmyjane on their website for $5, but I can't help but think "really, you're charging this much for a product, and you want to squeeze an extra $5 from consumers?" Most people I know like pouches for their toys, most people I know also like to feel that they're getting something for free. It really would have been worthwhile for Jimmyjane to bundle the pouch with it and absorb the associated cost, or even inflate the base cost ever so slightly to account for it. I certainly won't be using the main box for long term storage, so some form of pouch would have been handy, but I'll probably just pop it in with my We-Vibe Salsa to keep the dust away from the finish.

Overall I can happily say that I'd recommend the Jimmyjane Form 2 to anyone out there. If you enjoy using vibrators on your penis, or you have a partner who does, then it's definitely one to try out. It's a lovely looking toy, really well made, with powerful vibrations, and the unique inclusion of two separate motors to really add a new dimension to what you're doing. I'm really glad that it's a new addition to my toy drawer and I can definitely see it getting a lot of use. It also proves that while the Hello Touch might not have been a stroke of genius, Jimmyjane's innovation can lead to good places.

Mojo Spades Small

Last month when Sam from Simply Pleasure sent me the Jimmyjane Hello Touch to review she was kind enough to throw in a couple of samples from the Mojo range of toys. I must confess that Mojo isn't a brand that I've heard of before - nor do I know from where it originates, though its products bear a "Made in China" mark on the packaging - but as always I'm keen to try out something new.

The two items which I received were the Ion Strength Cock Ring - which I may review at a later date - along with one of the Spades butt plugs. The plugs come in two sizes, a Large and a Small, and I happened to get the Small. You can check out the review below.

The Mojo Spades Small is indeed a rather diminutive butt plug, with its shape reminding me somewhat of a pinecone in its early stages of life. It measures in at just 4" long, with 3 1/2" insertable, and around the widest point the circumference measures 4 1/4" (around about 1 1/4" diameter).

The plug is manufactured out of silicone and is entirely odourless, tasteless, and completely body-safe. It's a reasonably firm silicone with a slightly matte finish, but the size of the plug means that it's easy to compress and bend about. The quality of construction seems good on the whole; there is a mould line running along the length but it's very subtle and can hardly be felt. Other than that there are no visible defects or flaws to mention. One thing which is slightly strange about the build of the plug is that it doesn't feel completely solid. When you attempt to bend it or squeeze it it just doesn't behave quite right, almost as though the centre is hollow and encloses a void of trapped air. This theory gains a little more credence from the fact that the plug does seem a little lightweight for its size. I was going to say that unfortunately there's really no way to tell without cutting it in half, but then whilst roughly playing around with it I discovered a less destructive way to confirm my suspicions. If you push firmly enough on the base then the neck-like section can be forced up and into the bulb of the plug, something which physically could not happen if the plug was solid all the way through, so it definitely is hollow, and not a feature that I've never encountered in a toy before. Despite being hollow the walls of the plug seem thick enough to make it quite a sturdy piece, so there's no immediate cause for concern.

The shape of the Spades plug is pretty much your standard sort of conical butt plug design. It has quite a pointed tip and the whole plug is rather elongated, giving a gentle taper all the way down to the widest point. Beyond the thickest section the plug begins to narrow again and has a nicely-rounded underside which meets with the base of the plug. There is almost a neck between the bulb and the base, but it seems slightly foolish to refer to it as such as at best it's no more than 1/4" long. Unusually for a butt plug the base is designed as a suction cup and is very thin and floppy, additionally it's barely wider than the rest of the plug at only 1 3/8" in diameter. I have to say right now that it's not the most reassuring design in the world, and I'll go over some of the safety concerns in a little bit. The only other thing to mention about the design of the plug is a slight piece of detail on the bulb, which appears in the form of a raised ring which wraps around it at an angle. It's hard to describe so it's better to look at the picture to get an idea, but suffice it to say that this detail doesn't have a great impact.

The plug is nice and easy to insert, and you wouldn't really expect otherwise given the size and shape of it. The tapered tip glides easily through the sphincter, and shouldn't pose much of a challenge to even the tightest of beginners. Once you get past the widest point the Spades does that classic butt plug thing of being sucked in the rest of the way, and here's where we start to have a problem. Because there's really no neck on the plug the sphincter doesn't have an adequate place to come to rest once it's inserted; you need at least an inch of neck for this to work properly, not 1/4", so instead the muscle rests half on the underside of the bulb and half along the base. With the muscle right up against the base like that you'll find the base being really drawn up into the body, and the surface of it sits completely flush with the surrounding skin. The real issue here is that frankly the base isn't fit for purpose; it's so thin, so floppy, and so narrow, that one small amount of pressure on it and it's just going to fold up and be sucked into the body entirely. Simply put it's not even remotely anal-safe, and potentially even dangerous. If you're a beginner then possibly the stiffness of the muscle will work in your favour, but heaven forbid you're feeling relaxed back there, because at times I could sense that I was mere moments away from losing it for good.

I'm sure that somebody reading this is thinking "It has a suction cup, doesn't it? Surely if you stick it to something then that'll stop you from losing it?" Well that is a good point, but it's also flawed. Firstly we need to come back to the design of the plug. We've established that the plug has no neck, and that the base sits flush with the anus, so we have to think about what happens when you sit down. When you're seated your anus typically doesn't touch the surface that you're sitting on, because the muscle and bone of the buttocks protrudes and gets in the way. If you have the plug stuck to a surface then you're never going to be able to get close enough to the surface to have the plug fully inserted, so it doesn't really work. The other issue of course is what you'd even do in that situation were it possible. Most people like to wear a plug during sex or whilst walking about, and not just sat down somewhere where a plug happens to be stuck for a little bit. On the subject of the suction cup, it does do an adequate job of affixing itself to most surfaces and holding firmly in place, so I can't fault it in this regard.

Putting aside the problems with the base momentarily, the plug does feel comfortable when worn, though obviously it's not especially filling. You can walk around with it in and it feels fine, and that base isn't detectable under clothing, nor does it dig in or irritate the flesh. The plug doesn't feel overly secure for the most part, just down to the lack of neck, as it means the sphincter never closes completely and the underside of the bulb is only ever a short way from starting to make its way back out. You're caught between trying to clench the sphincter sufficiently so as as to hold the plug in place, but not so much as to accidentally pull the plug too far into the body.

On the whole I'm just not impressed and I'd probably suggest that people avoid this plug. It's made from a good material, and it is inexpensive, but that doesn't make up for the dangerous base, the pointless nature of the suction cup, and the fact that it's hollow in the centre. It's a good size for beginners, but if I were a beginner and I had an accident with this plug then it would have sent me into a real panic, so it's not worth the risk. There are plenty of good, small, silicone plugs out there if that's what you're looking for - ones which are safe. Safety always needs to be paramount with anal play, so bear that in mind and put your money towards something you can have confidence in.

Keep Burning Cock Skull Dildo

A couple of days ago I was browsing social media, as I often do when trying to keep up to date with the latest comings and goings in the sex toy industry, when I happened to spot a Tweet featuring a product which really drew my attention - the Cock Skull dildo. As you'll probably know I love unique and unusual products, so suddenly I had to know everything about this, including who made it and what it was made from, so off I went to do some investigation work. I soon discovered that the Cock Skull dildo is made by a little company based in Luxembourg called Keep Burning, and it's not the only interesting design they have available either. What really stood out for me though is that all their products are handmade in Belgium from 100% silicone, and they even have a page dedicated to explaining why they do this, so instantly I knew that this was a company I was going to like.

Armed with this new knowledge my immediate urge was to share this discovery with everyone, so naturally I sent out a Tweet about this amazing-looking dildo, and it just happened that someone from Keep Burning saw my Tweet and messaged me with an offer of a product to review. I have to say that I was thrilled to be able to get my hands on one in such a short space of time after initially discovering it, and now you can read my review below!

The Cock Skull is really like no other dildo I've encountered before, and features a fascinating and intricate design which captures so much detail. It's gothic, it's macabre, and in a way it's also beautiful if you happen to share an appreciation for that sense of aesthetic. It has a thick towering shaft which stands tall at an imposing 11", and which measures 7 1/4" around the middle, broadening to 8 1/4" at the widest point. Of that 7 1/4" are insertable, and at the base, instead of a pair of balls, sits a perfectly sculpted skull, looking like it was plucked straight out of an ancient catacomb. It is a slightly strange sight to behold, an oversized penis sprouting out of the top of a skull, and in a way it reminds me of an image from a fantasy novel, of a stout church candle placed atop a skull and allowed to fuse in place as the wax melts below the flame. It could just as easily be an idol or fetish, found lurking beneath a pyramid hidden deep in the jungles of South America. There are no shortage of comparisons that could be made with it, such is the nature of the piece, in fact my first urge when I unwrapped it was to hold it aloft in my hand and profess "Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him, Horatio" like Hamlet did with the remains of the court jester in Shakespeare's play of the same name. While I'm sure it won't be making its stage debut any time soon, however you choose to look at it it is undeniably unique, and that only adds to its appeal.

The Cock Skull is made from 100% platnium silicone, like all products from Keep Burning, and it's one of my favourite materials. It's completely odourless, non-porous, and bodysafe - all the things you want to have in a high quality toy. The dildo comes in just one colour, black, and has a matte surface with a leather-effect finish. Again it's quite unusual to have a dildo with a leather texture, it's certainly not something that I've encountered previously, but it does give a nice appearance, and a rather realistic one at that. It does look like it could actually be upholstered from leather, or how I imagine that one of those Victorian umbrella stands made from the foot of an elephant might appear. Funnily enough, while I may never have seen a leather-effect dildo before, I have seen penises in real life which I would describe as having had a leathery-looking head, but that's perhaps a story for another time. The silicone itself is a little on the firm side but there's still a reasonable amount of give in the surface when you squeeze it, and you can gently bend the shaft back and forth a little way without too much effort considering its size.

The construction quality of the dildo is honestly impeccable and there isn't a single mould line in sight, nor flaw. The level of detail around the skull is quite extraordinary, the way it captures the bone plates, the eye sockets, ridges over the brow, the bridge of the nose, and even every grinning tooth is picked out. It's really worth taking the time to look at it because you can tell that someone's consulted an anatomy book during the design process, and not merely constructed it from imagination. It's a piece of sculpture of artistic calibre. In contrast to the skull the penis section is much more simplistic; it begins with a nice rounded head which is relatively short and streamlined with the shaft, rather than flaring out with a pronounced corona. Apart from the leather-effect texture the only real detail on the head is a long urethral groove which extends down it and meets with the frenulum. Directly below the glans is a subtle indicator of a retracted foreskin which further helps to streamline the head, and this blends in seamlessly with the rest of the shaft. The shaft itself is decorated with a couple of long veins running vertically, and which branch out laterally in several places. The veins are fairly pronounced, but the surface of them is smooth and rounded, so far less extreme than the texture of the Super 7". Beneath the dildo is a broad flat base which measures 6" x 3", and at one end is a hole intended to be used in conjunction with a bright yellow suction cup that's sold separately, so that's always a handy option to have. Keep Burning were kind enough to throw in a suction cup with my parcel so I'll talk a little more about it later.

When it comes to using the Cock Skull this really is a dildo that's only for advanced users. You've probably gathered that already from reading the measurements, but it still bears repeating. If you visit the Keep Burning website then you'll see a video on the product page of Sam Barclay from UK HotJocks using the dildo, and as hot as that sight is don't be fooled by how easy he makes it look, because it's really not a dildo for beginners. Before you even think about inserting the dildo you're going to want a warm up toy, and this is because the tip of the dildo itself is quite blunt. I opted for my trusty Super Big End by Doc Johnson; it has a nice conical shape to open you up slowly, and it's also slightly larger than the first half of the Cock Skull  so when you do switch over you won't instantly be stretched to the maximum and this will make things far more comfortable.

Provided that you're sufficiently warmed up the head of the Cock Skull will go in like a charm and without any resistance. As the tip is so streamlined you don't get any sort of a bump or a pop like you might from a dildo with a more prominent head, and instead you just begin to feel it steadily filling you up. It is by far one of the most filling dildos that I've used, and you really feel every single inch of it. Because the silicone is so firm it really makes its presence known, which is in contrast to something like a dual-density dildo where the squishiness of the surface lessens the impact of the size. If you really love big toys and that sensation of their solidness inside you, along with the ample stretch they place on your sphincter, then you'll adore this dildo.

Eventually once you've got dildo in as far as you're comfortable with you'll want to start thrusting with it. I suggest that the best position to use it in is to squat over it and ride it. It's not impossible to hold onto the skull and thrust manually with it, but it is a little on the heavy side so you may find your arms tiring quickly. The broadness of the base and the low centre of gravity make the Cock Skull ideally suited to riding, and wherever you place it it's going to stay there without toppling over. Once you do start thrusting you'll notice that there's a little bit of drag coming from the leather texture on the dildo, so it's worth making sure that you're using plenty of lube, and something quite thick at that. Provided that you're sufficiently relaxed the texture can provide a nice additional sense of stimulation to your sphincter as the dildo glides easily in and out, which is why I suggested earlier using a plug beforehand that's slightly thicker than the dildo. If you're stretched to your limit then the texture, subtle as it is, may seem too intense at first, and you'll need to pause until you relax more before you continue thrusting, so as to lessen any friction. I wouldn't say that I was really aware of the presence of the veins during use, so I'd probably class them more as decorative.

One place where the dildo really does excel is in terms of prostate stimulation; when you're thrusting back and forth with a good rhythm the sheer size of it means that every stroke brushes firmly up against the prostate. It's impossible to avoid stimulating the prostate, so this is what's going to bring you back to this dildo time and time again. It fills you up, stretches you out, and rubs the prostate, all three of the most pleasurable aspects of anal play.

As I mentioned earlier there is the option of using a suction cup with the toy, and in my mind this is a fantastic thing. The suction cup comes in this wonderful bright neon yellow which contrasts beautifully against the jet black of the dildo, like the colours of a wasp. The suction cup is also made of silicone and easily locks into place below the dildo. It stays in place very firmly and takes quite a lot of tugging to get back out again, but without needing a ridiculous amount of force, so it strikes a good balance between being secure and user-friendly. The suction cup works against most flat surfaces and holds in place very well. I imagine that it's intended more for use on horizontal surfaces, but I stuck the Cock Skull to the tiles on my bathroom wall and everything stayed in place perfectly; the dildo didn't detach from the cup, and the cup didn't detach from the wall, so it can hold an impressive amount of weight. Naturally in this position the dildo does droop under its weight, with its tip angled diagonally downwards, making it somewhat difficult to use, but still possible for anyone who's determined. On the floor it's another matter and you get two key benefits: the suction cup adds a little extra height, so when you're squatting over it you don't have to squat quite so low which increases comfort. The other factor is that the suction cup acts like a joint between the dildo and the floor, so when you're down there and using it you can lean in any direction and the dildo will follow you, all the while staying anchored to the floor. The suction cup bends about giving you much more freedom of movement, and again this increases the comfort of the ride, allowing you to experiment with more positions. I'd definitely suggest buying a suction cup if you're going to get one of these.

The packaging for both the dildo and the suction cup is quite simplistic; they come vacuum packed and heat sealed inside shrink wrap which bears the Keep Burning branding and a notice which states "warranty void if packaging has been opened." It also has a small hologram stuck to the base which bears a CE mark and the words "Council of European Adult Products Manufacturers." This isn't an organisation that I've heard of before, but all the same it does seem reassuring. I quite like the packaging because it's everything that you need really; the plastic keeps it away from dust and acts as a hygiene seal, it's minimal so you don't have a huge box to throw away, and it allows you to see and judge the size of the product without opening it, so provided you heed the words on the plastic you can return it if you accidently went too large.

Overall I have to say that I do adore the Cock Skull  and it's easily one of my favourite pieces now. I really can't get over how fantastic the design is; it's so unique and it just looks amazing. It really is a big toy only for people who can handle it, but it's made from high quality materials, to an exceptional standard, and it feels great too. I really would recommend this toy, and indeed this whole brand, to people. I'm always excited to find a new company that's doing great things, and Keep Burning definitely fits that bill. Many thanks to them for sending me one of their wonderful toys.

Fun Factory Stronic Zwei

Not long ago the German manufacturer Fun Factory came out with a revolutionary new thrusting vibrator for women, called the Stronic Eins. After reading several reviews of it I immediately became curious about how it would actually feel to experience the sensations from it first hand, and being the fan of innovation that I am I  began to wonder if there was any way that I could use it myself. Luckily for me, however, Fun Factory have just released the all-new Stronic Zwei, with a flared based specifically designed for anal use, so I need wonder no longer.

When Sam from Simply Pleasure asked if I'd like to try one out I have to say that I was thrilled by the offer and positively ecstatic, so huge, huge, thanks to them for sending it to me.

I feel that I should begin this review by saying that the Stronic Zwei is a big toy, and this is definitely something which anyone considering it should bear in mind. Often manufacturers try to take a safe middle road when designing the dimensions of these things, take for example my favourite anal vibrator, the Lelo Billy, it's wonderfully powerful but only about an inch wide, so fill you up it does not. The Stronic Zwei, in contrast, throws this out the window and is proudly girthy. I'm not sure whether this was intentional, or rather a necessity in order to house the complex mechanism inside, but either way it's probably going to be a bit of a gamble. While those such as myself will love the girthiness that it has to offer, just as many people - if not more - will be put off by the fact that they're simply not able to insert something of that size. The question is, though, if you can't currently insert it, is it worth the effort to reach a point where you can?

The differences between the Stronic Zwei and its predecessor the Stronic Eins are largely cosmetic, but these are enough to completely change its purpose, making one anal-safe while the other is not. For the curious "Eins" and "Zwei" are simply the German words for "one" and "two," so while it may sound exotic to the ears of those of us in the Anglosphere, it transpires to be a rather simplistic naming technique. The common feature in both Stronics is the handle which is made out of a black matte plastic, and located on the it are the three buttons used to operate the Stronic, along with charging contacts which connect to the power cable.

The insertable portion of the Stronic takes its somewhat familiar shape from the thick layer of silicone which covers its inner workings. The silicone itself is soft and velvety with a matte finish, and somewhat extraordinarily for an electronic toy has not even a hint of a mould line. Down by the handle the silicone flares out on two sides, like the hand guard on a sword, giving the Zwei its anal-safe credentials, and then the shaft itself undulates down its length with two main bulges which mirror the shape of many prostate toys. On the whole only around 4 1/2" of the toy are actually insertable, but the circumference of the largest bulge is an even 6", making it short yet girthy. What's interesting is that the two "fins" of the guard piece don't lie completely perpendicular to the shaft, and sit at a slight diagonal angle, and I'm not entirely certain of the thought behind this design. The shaft of the toy itself is quite rigid due to the solid core, so while the surface of the silicone does have some give to it, there's largely no flex to the toy at all. The only exception to this is at the very tip, because the core only extends around 3" of the way down the shaft, so the last 1 1/2" at the end is just silicone all the way through. The overall appearance of the Stronic Zwei does rather remind me of a torch, and I'm not referring to the electric kind, it's more like the sort of flaming torch you'd find at an Olympic relay, or I guess if I were American I'd liken it to the Torch of Freedom that the Statue of Liberty holds as she stands watch over New York harbour. You have to hold it at just the right angle to get the full effect of it, but the top half does look like a torch flame flickering in the wind if you hold it aloft.

The Stronic Zwei has a total of seven different settings which are comprised of four speeds and three different patterns. What's different about Stronics is that they're not vibrators, they thrust, and this is immediately apparent as soon as you turn it on. Inside the core of the shaft is a solid mass which oscillates back and forth when the toy is turned on, and this is what generates the thrusting sensation. It's very impressive to see it in action, and just holding it in your hands is enough to get a good sense of how it's going to feel as it shakes around like a pneumatic drill. The toy is turned on by holding down a button labelled "Fun" and then off again by pressing it a second time. It starts off on the lowest setting and to increase the speed you press the (+) button. This will take you through all seven options and once you reach the final one you can press the (-) to come back down through the options again. The button system works well, and my own minor niggle would be that the toy doesn't remember which setting you were last using when you turn it off and on again, so you always need to cycle back to your speed or pattern of choice.

Inserting the Stronic Zwei is relatively simple to begin with, provided that you're used to the size, and the squishy silicone tip makes it a rather comfortable experience without the need for warm up, while the matte surface holds onto lube nicely and allows the shaft to glide into the body. The second bulge along the shaft can be a little tricky to overcome and requires a bit of force to encourage it into the body. What hinders things somewhat is the guard piece built into the silicone, because frankly it's the wrong shape. I mentioned previously that it's not perpendicular with the shaft, and herein lies the problem, because not only is it diagonal, but it slants the wrong way. You'll find that as you're trying to insert the second bulge the front fin of the guard will begin really digging into the perineum, while the fin at the back is an inch away from ever touching the body. It turns out that the only way to get the guard piece to sit flush with the exterior of the body is to rotate the whole toy by 180 degrees, but this isn't ideal because then the buttons on the handle are pointed downwards and out of sight, and the curved tip of the shaft is no longer angled into the prostate. Your only option is to restore the toy to its original position and live with it not sitting quite right, but it does seem like rather a ridiculous design mistake to make, and not something that I'd expect from Fun Factory. When the toy is fully inserted the girthiness of it does feel pleasantly filling, but I have to say that it doesn't stay in place very securely, and this is distracting, so you need to retain a constant grip on the handle. This is down to two things really: firstly there isn't a sufficient neck on the shaft below the second bulge, so the sphincter really has no place to clamp down around to hold the toy in position, and secondly the pressure that the uppermost guard fin applies to the perineum acts like a lever, and the result is that the second bulge will try to work its way out at the slightest provocation.

When you first turn on the Stronic Zwei it is a completely unique sensation, and slightly strange at that. I was talking the other week about the Revo 2 being a pretty innovative anal toy, but I feel that the Stronic goes so much further than that. Even at low speeds it really does feel like thrusting, but what's funny is that you can feel the inertia of this mass moving in and out, but with a complete lack of friction to the surrounding areas, and without the sensation of the rectum expanding and contracting. Immediately I found I had to urge to crank up the power to see what more it could do. One small let down is that it's not an especially deep thrusting sensation; because the mechanism of the toy only extends 3" into the shaft, and not all the way to the tip, that's all you're going to get, and possibly less if the guard piece interferes with your ability to insert the entire shaft. The result is that the thrusts feel quite shallow, sort of like if you were having sex with someone and instead of doing a full stroke they opted just to continually pop the head of their member in and out of you, and it does leave you craving more. Thankfully the  power settings do go some way towards compensating for this, and when you have it set to number 4 it does feel quite strong. The rapid thrusts of this power level feel vigorous and produce a deep rumbling vibration which permeates through every part of the body in the near vicinity, and especially into the prostate. At this point all you're focussed on is the effect on the prostate, and I found that this is the feature that really makes the toy worthwhile. The throbbing, pulsing sensation delivered by the thrusts into the prostate is really quite wonderful, and while it's not marketed specifically as a prostate massager is definitely performs well in this regard. I have to say that as always I couldn't help but crave a little more power. I kept thinking back to the surprise I had with the Palm Power and wondering what the Stronic Zwei might have been able to offer if it was mains operated rather than rechargeable.

Feeling the rhythm and vibrations of the toy alone is pretty nice, but the experience is really improved if you help it along a bit with some manual manipulation. Using a very gentle thrusting action to massage the prostate with the shaft of the toy really improves the sensations it provides, and after a while of this I did start to feel as though I may be on the road towards a prostate orgasm as there was a steady build up of feeling in the area.

The three patterns of vibrations add some nice variety to the toy and in fact I found myself alternating between all of them just to mix things up. They feature various sequences which include a mixture of slower weaker thrusts and faster more powerful ones, so it's harder to get accustomed to the rhythm like you can with the steady thrusts.

The Stronic Zwei is a rechargeable toy and it utilises Fun Factory's magnetic "Click 'n' Charge" system, just like their other products that I've reviewed, the Duke and Cobra Libre. The end of the charging lead clips onto the contacts at the base of the handle and stays firmly in place thanks to the strong magnets, so it won't accidentally become dislodged. During charging a red light on the plug illuminates to indicate the flow of power, as well as the buttons on the Stronic which glow sequentially, and everything conveniently extinguishes when the charge is complete, letting you know that it's ready to use. Because the charging system is the same on all Fun Factory toys it means that the adaptors are interchangeable, so they sell them separately from the toys themselves so you don't end up with more than you need. It makes it it very easy to find the right charger for your Fun Factory toys and relatively hassle-free.

The Stronic is also a completely waterproof toy which makes cleaning it a breeze, and the silicone allows it to be carefully sterilised using a mild bleach solution, which is always a handy thing for any toy being used anally.

Overall the Stronic Zwei is a rather tricky toy to evaluate because it definitely has its high points and its low points, but what its design really highlights is the potential for this sort of toy, which currently is the first of its kind. It's a really well made product which utilises quality materials, as well as being both rechargeable and waterproof. The shape can be pretty annoying with its backwards guard piece and the fact that it doesn't stay in place well, but it's also pleasantly girthy. I think that possibly the overriding factor has to be how it feels, and it really is unique, unique in a way that I think you have to experience for yourself. The thrusting sensation is like nothing you'll feel from any other toy, but more importantly it feels good. It really targets the prostate in a deep permeating way which few other toys do, and for that reason I'd have to suggest trying it. The real difficulty for me is the price, because it is expensive. I couldn't honestly sit here and say to people that this is the be all and end all of anal toys, and that they should splash out safe in the knowledge that they'd never need to buy another toy, because that simply isn't the case. What I can say though is that by and large it delivers, and it delivers something pleasurable. If you want something that's new, that's different, and that's going to take you to somewhere you haven't quite been before, and if you can comfortably afford it, then the Stronic Zwei is definitely a worthwhile piece to invest in, flaws and all.

Tantus Adam O2

It's another week and another nice new product to test out! This time I was sent the Tantus Adam O2 to review by the generous people at LoveBuddy.com.

The Adam is another dual-density dildo, like the Tantus Max O2 which I reviewed last year, and being that I'm a big fan of these I was quite eager to get my hands on it. You can check out the review below.

The Adam is one of Tantus's range of realistic dildos, both in terms of appearance and feeling, and comes from the popular O2 line of toys. The dildo is a pretty good-sized item, slotting in somewhere between the modest Hank and the imposing Max, and it offers dimensions that you might well stumble across when meeting someone in real life, provided that you have reasonable fortune. In total it's around 7 3/4" long, though taking an accurate measurement can be tricky due to the curve, and it offers about 6 7/8" that can actually be inserted. The girth along the shaft is nice and uniform, remaining at a steady 5 3/8" circumference throughout, and altogether it's a pretty nice package to behold.

Like all Tantus products the Adam is made of 100% platinum silicone, but what makes the O2 toys special is that they're made from two different types of silicone. The base and the internal core of the dildo are made from a fairly firm silicone, typical of most Tantus products, and this gives the dildo its shape while still allowing for a nice amount of flex. The firm core is then covered by a very soft layer of silicone which imitates the more 'squishy' areas of a real penis, such as the skin and the glans. This layer is fairly thin over most of the shaft, but does feel slightly thicker along the underside, through where the urethra would run on a real penis. The core extends only about halfway into the head of the dildo, leaving the majority of it made from the soft silicone alone, and this is wonderfully supple and has a lot of give to it.

The surface of the silicone incorporates two finishes: the shaft is matte and feels velvety to the touch, while the head is completely smooth and shiny, and this seems to be a common feature in all of Tantus's realistic dildos, through the Max, the Hank, and the Pack 'n' Play. Unlike with my Max O2 the silicone on the Adam doesn't have even a hint of tackiness to its surface, which is very welcome to note. As always the advantages of silicone, dual-density or not, as a toy material are that it's odourless, non-porous, and completely body-safe, and this is why it remains one of my favourites.

The construction of the dildo is done to a very high standard, and you won't find any hint of a mould line anywhere along it. Curiously my one complaint is exactly the same as the one I had with the Max O2, and that is holes in the material. Right down at the bottom of the dildo, along the surface of the base, are two small holes in the softer layer of material. These are just like the ones I spotted on the balls of the Max, and look as though they were formed from air bubbles in the material. When I first spotted it on the Max I assumed it was just an isolated incident, but now it's happened twice in two O2 dildos I'm wondering if it's more prolific. It's not a huge deal, and probably not enough to compel me to send a toy back, but I'm someone who hates to find imperfections in anything. I do wonder slightly now about Tantus's quality control system if these things keep slipping through, even though I remain a big supporter of the company on the whole.

The design of the Adam features a head much like that on the Pack 'n' Play No.1; it's quite plump and dome-shaped, and its shiny surface doesn't incorporate a lot of detail. The only significant difference between the two is that the Adam features a slight groove in the head to demarcate the urethral opening, and the corona of the glans is much less pronounced. The head blends almost seamlessly into the shaft below, with nothing much to mark the transition aside from a slight ridge on the underside intended to crudely mimic part of the frenulum. The surface of the shaft is, on the whole, marginally more detailed than the head, and features several raised areas which look like veins traversing beneath the skin. It's not a huge amount of detail, but it does add some points of interest and makes the dildo seem slightly more lifelike. Undoubtedly the most noticeable feature of the shaft is the prominent curve which it exhibits, and which gives the dildo a rather banana-like quality. It's definitely one of the stronger bends that I've seen in a toy, and no one could ever accuse it of being subtle.

The base of the dildo is designed to make it completely harness-friendly, and it lacks the somewhat cumbersome balls of the Max. The base is 2 5/8" inches wide and made entirely from the firmer silicone; it's flared nature acts to make the dildo completely anal-safe, and it also doubles as a good way to stand the toy upright, without the lean causing it to lose stability and topple over. It feels very strong and solid, whether you're holding onto it or relying on it staying in an O-ring harness. If you are intending to to use it in a harness then you'll find that the Adam holds its shape well, thanks to the solid core which prevents any drooping like you might find in the Pack 'n' Play. When held horizontally it does look positively perky thanks to the curve of the shaft, rather than merely jutting out straight in front.

The Adam is a truly lovely toy to use, especially for anal play, and it's incredibly comfortable at every step, starting with insertion. Because of its realistic size it should suit a fairly wide range of people, and the softness of the material makes it a pleasure to use without the need for warm up. The slightly-tapered head with its shiny surface helps the dildo to slide very easily into the body, and you feel an ever-so-subtle bump as the muscle passes over what little coronal ridge there is. The soft layer of material feels gentle against the sphincter the entire time, and provides a nice cushion if you decide to pause and give the dildo a little squeeze. The matte surface of the shaft has a little bit of drag to it, which personally I like, and it also helps to hold onto lube very well. Once the dildo is inside the body it does feel nice and comfortable, especially as it sucks up heat and warms to body temperature. You do remain quite aware of the firmness of the core throughout, which is an interesting point because it will divide people along individual preferences. Personally I'm one of those people who likes a bit of everything depending on my mood, whether it be the extreme firmness of glass, or the wonderful flexibility of the Pack 'n' Play. The Adam has a nice combination because it flexes enough to be comfortable inside you, but it's firm enough that you can direct pressure where you want. It's definitely a little more flexible than the Max too, just because the shaft is thinner.

The curvature of the shaft gives you a couple of options when it comes to how you choose to insert it, and while initially I did have my reservations about the severe angle, this feature does means that it turns out to be a really good prostate toy. I find that the best way to use it in this regard is by going against conventional wisdom. When you're looking at the anatomy of the rectum you'll notice that it curves backwards towards the spine, while the prostate is located towards the front. Most people would assume because of that that you want to insert the Adam with it curving forwards so that the head angles upwards and into the prostate, but it works far better in the reverse. If you insert the dildo with the curve going backwards, so that it follows the natural shape of the rectum, then that big bulge where the shaft bends will rub the prostate during the entire thrust. A few rapid and rhythmic thrusts like this will drive you wild, and for a dildo with little to no texture it provides an awful lot of prostate stimulation, something which is worth buying it for alone.

Aside from how you insert it you also have options on how you play with the dildo; you can thrust with it manually using the base as a handle, or you can use the stability of the base to allow you to squat over it and ride it, but either way you needn't worry about being too vigorous as the soft head cushions any impact with your insides. If you're using it in a harness with a partner then I'd recommend the doggystyle position, as that will help the shape best target the prostate. What's a bit of a shame is that the toy isn't compatible with a suction cup, as I can only imagine that it would feel great to use when stuck to a wall.

I have to say that overall I'm really pleased with the Adam and it makes another fine addition to my toy collection. It's well made using quality materials, the dual-density aspect feels wonderful, and the intense curve is great for prostate stimulation. I can happily recommend this to anyone looking for a high-quality dildo.

Silver Swan

This week I'm taking a look at the new range of luxury vibrators from Swan, the Canadian company behind the highly-regarded Leaf vibes (one of which I must get at some point). When a PR company got in contact with me recently and asked if I'd be interested in reviewing one I was happy to oblige.

The Swan collection is primarily aimed at women, though they do have a few products which would be suited to unisex use, such as the Tundra, the Mute, and the Trumpeter. I ended up receiving the Silver Swan, which as you can probably tell is your more traditional rabbit-style vibrator. I was a little apprehensive at first because of this fact, and worried that the review might end up being a little out of my comfort zone, but like all good stories there is in fact a twist, and later on I shall endeavour to explain why this toy is also rather man-friendly.

You may be thinking that you've seen this design somewhere before, and that's because in North America the whole collection is under licence to Jopen for their Vanity range. The only difference is that the Swan collection comes in fuchsia while the Vanity range is purple. The Silver Swan corresponds to the Vr3 for anyone who may be wondering.

I thought that for a change I'd start by looking at the packaging for the Silver Swan. Normally packaging only forms a cursory footnote in my reviews, but with a high-end luxury product such as this the packaging can almost be as important as the toy itself for some. The box for the Swan certainly sets the bar high from the outset with its design, which is always a welcome sign. It's constructed from a heavy duty cardboard, and by "heavy duty" I mean that it's as thick as the binding of a hardback book. It feels reassuringly solid and sturdy, almost like a trinket box which someone might leave out on a dressing table. The exterior of the box is almost completely glossy-white in finish, with the exception of the two ends which have information printed on them in small black text, and the top of the lid where a photo of the toy stands out against the white in its bold fuchsia hue. The name of the product and the company logo are printed alongside the photograph, so it's not the most discreet box in the world, but it certainly is tasteful, and in a way which elegantly normalises vibrator ownership.

The lid of box is a hinged flap held down by magnets hidden under one of the sides, so it's nice and easy to get into time and time again. The interior is lined with a sultry black paper, and gives off that unmistakable scent of 'newness' as soon as you open it. Inside the box you're greeted by a black cardboard wallet which houses the square white instruction manual, and below this you'll find the vibrator itself, the power adaptor, and a storage pouch, all sealed inside cellophane bags. The quality and presentation of the packaging is really impressive, especially if you're buying it for someone as a gift, as they'll really feel like they're being treated to something special. It's also a nice little box to keep to store things inside, whether it be the vibe itself or something other, and the plain white faces mean that it could be discreetly slipped onto a bookshelf.

The vibrator itself is really a lovely toy to behold and an expert piece of craftsmanship. It's moulded out of one continuous piece of body-safe 100% platinum silicone, and features an ever-so-soft velvety matte finish. The toy is described on the box as being "virtually-seamless", and while it does have a raised seam running the full length of the body, it's quite subtle. You can see the seam and feel it with your fingers, but it feels soft like the rest of the toy, and isn't pronounced enough to be felt inside the body during use. As well as being safe and completely odourless, the non-porous silicone coating protects the electronics inside the toy and makes it completely waterproof. Not only is it safe to wash the toy under the tap, but it can also be fully submersed and used underwater in a bath or hot tub. The entire Swan range is available in only one colour, a rather bold fuchsia which I find quite attractive, but if you're not into the more pink range of the spectrum then it may hold less appeal.

The design of the Silver Swan is pretty much like one of your typical rabbit-variants, with the large insertable bulb at one end, and then the smaller arm protruding from midway down the shaft. This does beg the question of how this toy could be used by anyone other than a woman, as surely it's created with only that anatomy in mind? I did mention at the very start that the toy has a trick up its sleeve, and that trick is its flexibility. You see the toy for the most part has a firm core underneath the silicone layer, and this can be felt in handle, the bulb, and in the tip of the arm. There are two areas, however, where this is not the case, and I've done my best to highlight them in an image. The point where the arm meets the shaft is made completely of silicone, barring any wiring running through the centre, and so is the narrow point where the bulb joins onto the handle slightly above the arm. The result of this is that these two areas have a great amount of flexibility in them and can bend away from each other in different directions. Once you've spread them apart you'll notice that there's some familiarity about the shape which follows, and that's because it looks just like the Ego E4 prostate massager, and all of a sudden there's that "a-ha!" moment. So there we have it, a rabbit vibrator which can be used anally by a man, and we'll get on to how it performs in that capacity in a little while.

The vibrator is powered by PowerBullet technology, and as the Silver Swan is a dual-stimulator there are two of them present. The primary motor is located right in the tip of the bulb, while the secondary motor is found within the arm. Each motor is controlled independently by a separate button in the handle, allowing you to precisely adjust how much intensity you get from which part of the toy. Pressing a button once activates the corresponding motor and causes the button to illuminate with a red glow, letting you know which one you've pressed. Holding that button down then steadily increases the power level and makes the motor vibrate more strongly. Pressing that button again will turn the motor off completely. Both motors can be used simultaneously, but you will want to adjust them one at a time. Holding both buttons down at once for a couple of seconds will lock the controls, meaning that they won't respond to being pressed. This is a useful feature for travelling as it prevents the toy from accidentally being activated inside luggage. To re-enable the buttons they must simply be held down together again for another couple of seconds.

The motors inside the toy both vibrate with great strength and intensity, and the first time I held it in my hand and turned it up to maximum I was honestly surprised by the sheer power of what I was feeling. It was almost like touching my hand to the side of some large industrial machinery which was operating at full capacity. Both motors are comparatively quite low and deep with their vibration amplitude, with the arm motor being the slightly more buzzy of the two and the bulb motor being more rumbly. If I was to place them on a scale ranging from buzzy to rumbly then I'd say that the arm motor was definitely a more middling medium amplitude, while the bulb motor was in the lower medium/rumbly range, as I have encountered a deeper vibration sensation in other products. Despite the sheer intensity of the motors they are actually surprisingly quiet. When you've got the motors turned up to full power they only let out a low hum which couldn't be heard beyond a closed door or thin partition wall, though someone sharing a room with you would be aware of the sound. One slightly strange aspect about the toy is that sometimes when both motors are turned on, and up to full, it can rattle. This rattling sound doesn't appear to emanate from within the motors themselves, but from elsewhere in the toy which is merely reacting to the vibrations. It may just be an anomaly in my model, but when the rattling occurs its the nosiest aspect of an otherwise very quiet toy. Having said that the rattling can generally be stopped by adjusting how you're holding the toy, or by squeezing it more firmly within the body, so it's not a huge deal.

Shape when flexed
As always the most important question with any toy is how does it perform, and the first thing to get out of the way is inserting it. The advantage of a matte silicone is always how well it holds lube, especially a thicker water-based lube which is what you'll be wanting if you're using the Silver Swan anally. The insertable end has a bulb with a 4 1/2" circumference, but it does have a nice little taper up to that point which helps to ease it into the body. Anyone with moderate anal experience should be able to handle it, but it's probably not a toy for a complete novice. The firm core makes it easy to push the tip through the muscle, while the silicone coating adds a nice cushion to the entry, and once you're past the widest point the rest slips in with ease. The distance between the tip and the fork where the arm extends from the shaft is 3 3/4", and it's possible to insert the entirety of this. As soon as the arm comes into contact with the perineum it gently bends down and out of the way while the toy is drawn into the body, and there's no need to use any additional force to manoeuvre it into this position. With the toy fully inside the body the bulb nestles up nicely against the prostate, while the arm pushes down quite firmly against the perineum, and together they create the sensation of a squeeze in just the right places. The narrow portion of the shaft acts rather like the neck on a butt plug, and it keeps the whole thing held perfectly in place with no slippage.

The motor in the arm has to be one of the highlights of the toy, as it actually does what no perineum stimulator in any other toy ever has. The combined pressure of the arm and the intensity of the vibrations actually delivers a noticeably strong and pleasurable sensation in the perineum, even more so than the Ego E4 which has its one and only motor in the perineum section. The only slight downside is that if you wear it for too long then it can become a little uncomfortable, presumably due to the prolonged pressure. After a while I began to get the urge to move it so as to allow the skin underneath to breathe a little. The big motor inside the bulb also performs well, and as soon as you start to crank up the power you become aware of the intensity. As always my preference is to have the power set to maximum, and at this level the vibrations penetrate the prostate to a significant degree, though they do so less well than the Lelo Billy due to their less rumbly nature. In my experience rumbliness really is key to a successful anal vibe, and having the vibrations travel in a directed fashion rather than being absorbed by the body. The sustained vibrations from the big motor in the Silver Swan are definitely powerful enough to deliver a pleasurable sensation throughout the prostate, especially when used in conjunction with the secondary motor in the arm, which acts to magnify the effect. The one area where it lets me down though is the fact that it only has a constant mode, and no vibration patterns. I find that I get by far the the most pleasure in the prostate from a rhythmic sequence of pulses, whereas after a while the sensation from a constant vibration starts to have less impact. It would have been nice to have a few options of the toy pulsing at maximum intensity, and steadily ramping up and down through various power levels. I say this out of personal preference of course, and if you're someone who almost never uses vibration patterns on a toy then you surely won't notice their absence.

It mustn't be forgotten that the toy has a handle, because handles aren't just places to put buttons and house batteries, they're also the root of how you manipulate a toy during use. There are two main handle-related activities, there's thrusting and angling. Thrusting with the toy works fairly well; it allows the big bulge on the bulb to rub back and forth across the surface of the prostate for a little added stimulation, whilst simultaneously giving the perineum a little breather as the pressure from the arm subsides. Angling the toy, however, is another matter, and unfortunately works less well. If you want to try to direct the tip of the toy into the prostate and apply a firm pressure then you'll find that sadly this cannot be achieved. The issue, it turns out, is that very flexible section in the middle of the shaft which allowed the Silver Swan to be used successfully as an anal toy to begin with. When you attempt to direct or angle the toy using the handle, the tip doesn't follow because the shaft simply bends in the middle where it's weakest. Getting any pressure on the prostate is just a no-no as it turns out, so if that's what you were craving then you might be disappointed.

The Silver Swan is a rechargeable vibrator and features one of the most ingenious power adaptors that I've encountered with any sex toy. The charger comes in two separate parts: there's a transformer connected to the power lead which plugs into the toy, and then there's a selection of different prongs which clip onto the transformer, depending on where in the world you want you use it. There are four different attachments in total, one for the UK, EU countries, Australia/New Zealand, and North America/Japan. Each of the sets of prongs clips on really firmly to form a secure unit, and it's a simple button push to pop them back off again and switch them. For added peace of mind the button is located in a position where it can't be pressed while the charger is plugged into a socket, so there's no chance of accidentally separating it while live current is flowing. The design is convenient in two ways, firstly because you can buy a Swan product anywhere and know that it'll work when you get home without the need for adaptors, and secondly because you can customise the charger when you're planning to travel abroad on holiday. The other great thing about the charger, which may strike you as insignificant initially, is that it actually has "Swan" printed on it. For those of us with a number of rechargeable toys, being able to identify which charger amongst a drawer-full goes with which toy can be a godsend.

When in use the charging cable plugs into the back of the toy through a water-resistant seal, and a light in the handle illuminates to indicate that the battery is receiving power. It takes around 3 hours to do a full charge initially, after which the light will extinguish to signify that charging is complete.

As I mentioned at the top the Silver Swan does come with its own storage pouch, which is lovely if you just want to keep it in a drawer by the bedside instead of in its box. It's a 10 1/2" x 6" black drawstring bag made of a shiny satin-like fabric, and with the Swan logo printed on one side. Like many sex toy bags it's very spacious, by which I mean oversized. There's room enough in there for the vibrator, the charger, even the little cardboard wallet with the manual, and probably several other toys too. I've never quite understood why they make these bags so large; it's almost like something from a magician's kit, only you're pulling out a different kind of rabbit... It is a very good quality bag, however, so you won't be endlessly pulling stray black threads off your toy. I'm a big fan of companies which include storage pouches, so kudos to Swan. My only minor niggle, and this is strictly a matter of preference, is that I would have liked to have seen a white bag instead, like the ones used by We-Vibe. The fuchsia contrasts so nicely against white on the outside of the box, that I would have liked to have seen this mirrored with the pouch.

When it comes to caring for your toy you're just going to want to wash it gently with some antibacterial soap and warm water, and you may wish to do this both before and after use, as like any silicone it does attract dust with a special prowess. If you're sharing the toy then it can be sterilised by wiping it down with a mild 10% bleach solution. Things not to do with the toy: don't boil it as this is likely to damage the electronics, and don't use a silicone lubricant unless you've performed a patch test and are confident that it's safe.

Overall I'd have to say that the design and build quality of the Silver Swan are truly exceptional. It really does have the look and feel of a luxury product. In terms of performance it truly is lovely to use, but I'm left feeling that it's probably slightly better suited to a woman. As much as I love that squeeze against the perineum, and the intensity of the motors, when I'm looking for a specialist anal vibrator I like just a little more rumble and some patterns to choose from, and there are specific prostate massagers which do that job better. It's undoubtedly a fantastic product, and in the right circumstances I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. As a shared his-&-hers toy I could see it being ideal, as from a male perspective it's definitely of a high enough calibre as a prostate toy, and while this may seem terribly presumptive, I can't imagine a female partner not enjoying what it has to offer, but feel free to take that last statement with a pinch of salt. Swan is unquestionably a company which I've been left with a lot of respect for, and I'm pleased that I had the opportunity to test one of their products.

Tantus Silk Large

It's the last day of April and I'm rounding off the month with a review of another Tantus product, this time courtesy of the lovely Christine over at Vibrations Direct who kindly sent me the Silk dildo.

The Silk is probably the smallest "large" toy that I've encountered during my time writing reviews, but in order to properly make sense of this you need to understand that the name wasn't ever intended to be a general indicator of size. The Silk is, in fact, available in three different variations, the "Small," "Medium," and "Large" named according to their comparative dimensions relative to each other. In total the Silk Large measures in at a respectable 7" long, with around 6 1/4" of this being actually insertable. Throughout the length of the dildo the girth does vary somewhat, with the thickest point being located near the tip and measuring 4 3/4" around, then steadily slimming down to 4 1/8" just above the base. Just to give a general idea, it's actually slightly slimmer than Tantus's popular Ryder butt plug.

Like all Tantus products the Silk is made from Tantus's special blend of 100% platinum silicone, and it's one of my favourite materials due to the fact that it's completely odourless, non-porous, and completely body-safe. The Silk is made to an exceptionally high standard and is free from any mould lines or other surface defects. The finish to the silicone is completely smooth, giving it a shiny and glossy surface, and the dildo itself is nice and flexible and has a good amount of give when squeezed.

The design of the Silk is actually fairly simplistic, especially when compared to some of the other designs which Tantus is known for. It has a long straight shaft with a rounded tip, and it leans over very slightly to one side. In black it rather reminds me of an old-fashioned policeman's truncheon, though at the same time some aspect of the shape has me picturing Pinocchio's nose, in the way that it does vaguely resemble a generic wooden peg. At the bottom of the shaft the Silk has a nice 2 3/4" wide base which provides the dildo with plenty of stability when stood upright somewhere. The base is thick enough to prevent it from being flimsy, so this allows it to be used in a standard O-ring harness if this is desired.

The modest size of the dildo and its smooth surface suggest that it's designed with a less experienced user in mind, though the tip does rule it out as an appropriate beginner toy for any complete novices to anal play. The issue with the tip is simply that it's quite rounded and blunt, whereas anyone who isn't familiar with inserting toys is going to need something with a decent taper on it in order to facilitate a comfortable entry. It's worth comparing it with my very first dildo, the Tool by Doc Johnson, as they're both of a similar size, but with quite different tips, which explains why I'd be more inclined to recommend that to people just starting out.

The Silk is a lovely dildo to use all round, and should suit a reasonably broad range of people beyond just those I've mentioned above. It's a nice and comfortable piece to insert, and for those with a reasonable degree of experience it can be done without the need for a warm up toy. The rounded tip gently pushes its way through an adequately relaxed sphincter, and then the smooth shaft slides seamlessly in after. If you're not as relaxed as you might like to be then luckily that touch of give in the dildo's surface cushions any involuntary clenching from the sphincter, so you needn't worry. Once it is inside it's not the world's most filling dildo, so do bear that in mind if you're still under the misapprehension that Large means "large", but it rests nicely inside the body and the shaft flexes about enough to conform with your body shape. One of the great things about silicone is that it does heat up whilst inside the body, so as you leave it there it'll steadily rise to body temperature and create a more natural feel. The Silk is a great dildo for thrusting with, not least because of its completely smooth surface which allows it to glide in and out of the body almost frictionlessly. Again this is good for those beginners who are going to lack sufficient control over their sphincter to relax it on command, so no matter how tightly the dildo's being gripped by the muscle it'll still slip through with ease, and without irritating the skin. In contrast, those used to a lot of anal play may not find the experience too exciting, but still it can be nice to switch things up now and again. There are options on how you can use the dildo as the base both makes a nice solid handle to grasp onto for thrusting with, as well as offering good stability when standing it upright, if you choose to squat over it and use it in that manner.  During thrusting the real advantage of the rounded tip is that you can't poke yourself too uncomfortably if you accidentally thrust too hard, as there are no pointed areas, so at most you feel a firm pressure if you go too deep. Possibly the only downside to the whole design is that I didn't really find that it offered much in the way of prostate stimulation. In my experience a toy either needs to have more girth, more texture, or more curvature to best accomplish this, and unfortunately the Silk just came up a little short on all of these.

The Silk comes in Tantus's usual simplistic and tasteful packaging. It's quite a plain plastic box which allows you to see the item inside, but which doesn't cloak it from prying eyes. The box isn't too large so it could conceivably be used for long term storage, but it's also suitable for recycling if you want to be environmentally conscious.

The dildo is nice and easy to clean, which is a big bonus considering how prone to attracting dust the silicone is. You can simply wash it with hot water and antibacterial soap, wipe it over with some toy cleaner, or even pop it in the dishwasher. Because it is silicone you also have the option of completely sterilising it, which is important if you plan on sharing it with a partner, and this can be accomplished by either boiling it in water for a couple of minutes, or wiping it down with a 10% bleach solution.

Overall I'd have to say that I'd happily recommend the Tantus Silk to anyone looking for a good quality dildo, as you really can't fault the material or construction. It's just a matter of picking the right sized dildo for your needs, and this is one which should really go down well with those just starting to experiment with toys.

Perfect Fit Tunnel Plug

I was very fortunate last week to receive a box of review samples in the post from the nice people at Planet Earth Wholesale - the UK distributor of the Perfect Fit brand of toys.

Amongst the items was included a type of toy that I've actually been interested in trying out for a while a now - a Tunnel Plug. A Tunnel Plug is in essence just a butt plug, but with a slight twist, and that is that unlike most plugs it's not solid right the way through, instead having a hollow centre which runs from end to end. I'm a sucker for anything which defies the norm, so I was curious to see how this could be put to use.

Check out the review below!

The Tunnel Plug is one of Perfect Fit's signature products in their range of toys aimed at men, and it comes available in a choice of three sizes varying from medium through to extra large, as well as a selection of three different colours: red, black or clear, meaning there should be a combination out there which suits most people's tastes. I was sent one of the medium size which measures in at 6 1/2" in circumference, making it still a rather sizable toy even whilst being the smallest option, and I was fortunate enough to get it in red too - my favourite sex toy colour.

The Tunnel Plug is made from something known as "PFBlend" - Perfect Fit's own proprietary material which is described on the packaging with the words "stretches like TPR, durable and safe like silicone." As with any proprietary product it does remain a bit of a mystery what the actual composition of it is, but it does seem to be a really nice high quality material. Much like with silicone it's a completely odourless and tasteless product, and that's always an important factor for me with any toy, and generally a good indicator that something's safe for the body. In terms of its physical properties the material has a nice amount of flex to it, as well as plenty of give in the surface, but at the same time its strong enough to be able to hold its shape and counteract any weakness which might come from having a hollow centre.

The construction of the plug is done to a really high standard with a nice uniform result. The surface of the material is smooth and shiny, with only a very faint mould line to break it up, and this is subtle enough to barely be felt. The material is slightly translucent giving it an attractive appearance, but which allows you to tell that the inside of the toy is free from any air bubbles, as well as the outside being clear of surface defects. I'm pleased to say that I really can't fault the manufacturing at all.

The design of the Tunnel Plug is largely similar to any standard butt plug in terms of its external shape, with the only major difference being the noticeable absence of a tip. Because of the internal passageway it's not possible to have a full tapered point on the plug, and instead it's forced to stop short, leaving the end rather blunt. This aspect of the design also has an impact the plug's size, and the lack of tip leaves it at a rather stubby 3 1/8" in total height, with only 2 3/4" actually insertable. Starting at the flat end of the plug, which measures 1 1/2" across, it very quickly broadens out to the widest part of the bulb, before then gently rounding off and merging into the neck. The neck itself isn't much narrower than the bulb, measuring 4 7/8" around, but this is understandable given that it must accommodate the hollow section within it. The total length of the neck is just over an inch, which is in my opinion the ideal size, and this then joins onto oval-shaped base which is flared to ensure that the plug is completely anal safe. The tunnel running through the centre of the plug is only 1" in width as it's surrounded by sturdy walls which measure no less than 1/4" thick.

When it comes to inserting the plug it does require the use of a warm-up toy first, as the end is simply too blunt to comfortably manage otherwise, meaning it's not a toy that you want to rush with. With sufficient preparations taken care of beforehand it's a very comfortable affair, and the bulb of the plug manages to hold its shape well as it slides into position, without deforming beneath the pressure of the sphincter in the process. Because of the shape of the plug, and the fact that the neck isn't significantly narrower than the bulb, it doesn't anchor itself inside the body that securely. It stays in place well for the most part, but if you allow yourself to relax too much then it will start working its way out with little provocation, so it's worth giving the occasional clench of the sphincter to pull it back into position. The fit of the plug inside the body is quite interesting, because it doesn't behave altogether how you might imagine it to if you've never used something like this before. It sits comfortably inside the rectum, with plenty of space along the neck for the sphincter to rest, and it manages to retain its shape entirely despite any pressure placed on it from the surrounding muscle, thus leaving the central tunnel completely clear and not caved in on itself. What tends to happen when you're wearing the plug is that some of the soft tissue of the rectum will block off the far end, and even bulge out slightly into the interior of the tunnel. You don't quite get a direct passage deeper into the body like you may have been expecting, and inserting a finger through the plug doesn't reveal a void, but instead you feel this soft spongy tissue. I suppose that one of the advantages of this is that you needn't worry about anything involuntarily exiting the body whilst you're wearing the plug, as it does a good job of sealing off one end by itself. Perfect Fit do actually make a longer version of the tunnel plug, and I'd be curious to see how the two compare in this regard. If you're planning to wear the plug for long term then I'm happy to stay that it is a comfortable piece. The stubby nature of it means that it isn't overly filling, so you should be able to leave it in and almost forget about it, and the oval-shaped base nestles very comfortably between the buttocks, with no pointed edges to dig in or annoy you.

The fact that the plug is designed with a tunnel through it does sort of beg the question "what can the tunnel be used for?" and I'm still pondering that one myself. Aside from the novelty factor of its presence, and being able to peer into your insides, one would think that it might have a more practical purpose. The size of the opening and the fact that the material isn't overly stretchy means that you can't insert a lot through it, certainly not a penis, and I don't possess any dildos small enough for the job. The only thing I could think of that might fit is a set of moulded anal beads, but beads are intended really for stimulating the sphincter, so I'm not sure what you'd get out of the experience. I imagine that you may be able to incorporate it with some douching kits, though the nozzle would need to be long enough to pass through the whole plug and gently move out of the way the tissue blocking the end. A kit which attaches to a shower hose might be your best bet. I have seen videos of this particular plug being used for watersports, so that's a distinct possibility if you have a partner with whom you share that interest, and in a similar vein I suppose it could have its uses for medical play. If anyone has any other thoughts then pop them in the comments section below as I'd love to hear them.

The plug is really simple to clean when you're done, and a quick wash with some antibacterial soap and hot water should do the trick. Alternatively a spray of toy cleaner, or the use of a toy wipe, is equally sufficient. The material doesn't seem to cling onto odours at all, which is always great for anything being used anally, so you can toss it in your toy drawer safe in the knowledge that it'll be fresh as daisy next time you want it.

Overall I'd say that I'd be happy to recommend the Perfect Fit Tunnel Plug to anyone. It's really well made from a quality material, it's comfortable to use, and it holds its shape in the way it's intended to. All that remains is for you to find your own use for it, but if you're looking for a hollow plug then look no further as you really can't go wrong with this one.

Perfect Fit Cock Armour

The second of my goodies which I'm reviewing from Planet Earth Wholesale this week is the Perfect Fit Cock Armour.

Usually cock rings aren't something which I'm terribly interested in, but I do make an exception when there's something a little special about the design, such as with several of the Oxballs products I've tried. It's funny because in the past I've described the Oxballs Cocksling as being like a suit of armour for the penis, and now Perfect Fit have gone and made a product with "Armour" in the name, so I guess there's something to be said for minds which think alike.

Check out the review after the jump!

The Perfect Fit Cock Armour is a cock ring which incorporates into the design a perineum stimulator - something which I've noticed is becoming increasingly popular in recent times. It's a one-size-fits-all product, but like the Tunnel Plug it's available in a choice of three different colours: red, black, and clear, and as you may have guessed I went for the red again.

The Cock Armour is made from something known as "PFBlend" - Perfect Fit's own proprietary material which is described on the packaging with the words "stretches like TPR, durable and safe like silicone." As with any proprietary product it does remain a bit of a mystery what the actual composition of it is, but it does seem to be a really nice high quality material. Much like with silicone it's a completely odourless and tasteless product, and that's always an important factor for me with any toy, and generally a good indicator that something's safe for the body. The material being odourless is also doubly important with a cock ring if you're expecting someone to have their face in your crotch while you're wearing it. In terms of its physical properties the material has a nice amount of bend and flex to it, so it's pliable enough for its intended purposes.

The construction of the cock ring is done to a really high standard with a nice uniform result.

When you first take the Cock Armour out of its packaging you're quite likely to be struck by the size of it because it is rather large. The whole thing measures around 3 1/2" across due to the amount of material that it incorporates. Unlike traditional cock rings which just use a thin band of material to wrap around the genitalia, the Cock Armour has a 1 1/2" wide strap which sits against the pubic bone when worn and effectively frames the penis and testicles. The design is something which is as aesthetic as it is functional. The opening in the cock ring is 1 3/4" across, which seems a little large for something which is one-size-fits-all, though the material can stretch to accommodate more if needed. Out of one side of the cock ring protrudes a nub which is intended to sit against the perineum whilst it's being worn, and this angles backwards slightly in order to follow the shape of the body.

Putting the Cock Armour on is a simple enough task, and the material stretches enough to allow you to accomplish this either while erect or flaccid depending on your choice. The Cock Armour fits quite snugly around the penis and testicles and feels very comfortable to wear, as well as looking quite stunning. It's definitely a bit of a showpiece, and it showcases the genitals well causing them to stand proud and forward. My only slight complaint would be that personally I would have preferred a moderately tighter fit; I really enjoy to feel a good squeeze from my cock rings, but the pressure was just a little short of being ideal. For this reason it's definitely worth measuring yourself first if you're contemplating buying one, as guys who aren't that big are liable to find it a little loose. The perineum stimulator on the Cock Armour is very effective, which was a pleasant surprise  for me as I've had mixed results with similar products in the past. There's a raised ridge on the inside of the nub, and this pushes against the perineum with a pleasant amount of force - it's not overly strong, but it's more than just the sensation of glancing contact. The length of the nub turns out to be ideal for directing the force to just the right point along the perineum and hitting the sweet spot, instead of either being too near to the anus or the rear of the testicles, which would render it less effective.

The Cock Armour feels great and quite natural to wear, and it's fairly versatile in how you can use it. You can wear it during sex or masturbation and enjoy the sensations of that gentle squeeze around the shaft, along with the light pressure rubbing on the perineum, or you can wear it beneath your underwear when you go out and make the most of the slightly larger bulge it gives you in the front. When you're done with it it comes off again just as easily as it went on, and thankfully pubic hairs tend to get caught much less in the material than they do in TPR, so you avoid any painful tugging while you're trying to negotiate things.

Overall I'd have to say that I can happily recommend the Cock Armour to anyone looking for a good quality cock ring with a perineum stimulator that actually works; it's definitely going to take its place alongside the Oxballs Cocksling as one of my favourite and most used cock rings in my collection. What separates the two is that the Cock Armour is better suited to those who prefer less restriction around the testicles. The only caveat to my recommendation would be that you want to be reasonably girthy to enjoy it best, so do check beforehand.

Big Teaze Toys VërSpanken™ and WaterWieners™

This week Nice 'n' Naughty have sent me the all new VërSpanken™ from Big Teaze Toys, and they were even kind enough to throw in some WaterWieners™ as well.

The VërSpanken™ is a totally new type of masturbator for men and I've been intrigued by the design of it for a little while now, so I'm excited to be trying it out, along with its interchangeable inserts, the WaterWieners™.

In the world of male masturbators there isn't a great deal of variation amongst the designs; generally it boils down to a standard tubular sleeve with a textured interior. Some have a hard case, some don't; some open up for cleaning, some are sealed; some are multi-use, some are disposable, but on the whole there's a pretty tried-and-tested configuration which manufacturers stick to. What's interesting about the VërSpanken™ is that it completely ignores all of that in favour of totally new approach, and this is something which I'm always pleased to see.

The design of the VërSpanken™ is something of a curiosity; it's made from a hard plastic outer shell which houses two spongy rollers (known as FoamWieners™) within it, rather like a cross between a Victorian clothes mangle and a section of the obstacle course in Pat Sharp's Funhouse. It comes in three different variations: the Smooth, the Wavy, and the Bumpy, and today I'm going to be primarily focussing on the Wavy. What's clever about the design is that the rollers can be removed and are completely interchangeable, allowing you to swap them around and even mix and match. There's also the option to replace them with the WaterWieners™ which are sold separately, and I'll cover these in more detail later.

The plastic shell of the VërSpanken™ is hinged at one end and fastened by a clip at the other, which easily pops open allowing you full access to the interior, both for the purposes of swapping the rollers and cleaning the device. The rollers are fastened into position by two nubs in the material which pokes through a couple of holes on either side of the case, and this holds them firmly while still allowing them to be taken out with ease. The rollers themselves are made from some sort of a foam rubber which has been filled with air, like a miniature dirigible. The material has a slight odour to it; it reminds me of a mechanic's workshop, or some sort of epoxy. It's not really noticeable unless you press your nose right up to it, and I wouldn't describe it as unpleasant, but perhaps my nose just has a taste for glue. The air-filled sausages turn out to be quite squishy, and though the foam-rubber walls do seem fairly thick, if you squeeze too hard then you're liable to blow a bubble out of one of the sides of the material. On the wavy model there is a pattern of ridges built into the material, arranged in concentric ellipses like the race track in the Olympic stadium, and both patterned faces sandwich together when the VërSpanken™ is closed shut.

Using the VërSpanken™ is pretty straightforward and hassle-free, though it does come with an instruction booklet that contains several directions/suggestions, all illustrated rather coyly with the use of a banana, just in case any sex toy consumers out there might have their sensibilities offended by the alarming sight of a line drawing of a penis. You simply want to lube up the device and your penis, then slide it into place. The material is purported to be compatible with any type of lube, so feel free to go wild with those silicone and oil-based lubes which are usually the death-knell for any other masturbator. Because the rollers are so squishy you'll find that your penis will slide into place with ease, without an excessive sense of tightness, so though it may look like a mangle it's not going to have quite the same result. The best way I found to use the VërSpanken™ when thrusting was with the two handed approach, one placed on either side of the toy, and then thrusting up and down on the shaft. I was sat on my bed doing this rather rhythmically, starting to gently bounce up and down on the springs of my mattress in the process, when suddenly I realised that the way I was operating the toy made it look like I was using my penis as a pogo stick, which caused me a moment of amusement. Because the design of the toy causes it to make fairly minimal contact with the penis compared to other masturbators, you have the choice of how long of a thrust you want to make. A short thrusting action will focus the stimulation entirely on the head, while longer strokes will place more emphasis on the shaft. I found that using it on the shaft wasn't very productive and I opted instead just to pop the head in and out of the rollers and concentrate on that. A medium length stroke is more likely to get the foreskin caught up in what's going on, awkwardly dragging it back over the head in the up stroke and I didn't find this entirely preferable just because of the way in which the rollers tended to grab onto it.

In terms of how the VërSpanken™ actually feels physically during use, I have to say that it's a bit of a strange product; it's not really stimulating enough in the ways that you want it to be, but at the same time it's too stimulating in the ways that you don't. Looking at the amount of sexual sensation and pleasure that it delivers it's actually quite lacklustre and not all that exciting; I was playing around with it for a while and my reaction never really got above "it's O.K." or "it's kind of nice." There's always going to be some degree of a nice feeling when you're rubbing your penis with something, but I just wasn't overly impressed, and at times I was even on the verge of being bored. When you then consider how it feels on the other side of things, just in terms of ordinary touch sensation, it can be a little uncomfortable during use. The FoamWieners™ themselves are soft on the whole, largely due to being filled with air, but the foam-rubber material that the exterior is made from is somewhat firm. Sliding your penis across the ridges of the Wavy design just isn't like using the texture of any other masturbator; the material doesn't give enough in the surface, so those bumps are mildly painful and they really offer nothing in terms of sexual satisfaction. I daresay that the smooth one would be better in this regard, but that still wouldn't fix the issue with the sexual experience generally being a bland one. I suppose the crux of the matter is that at some point whilst playing with the toy I thought to myself "I'd rather be using by hand" and frankly that says it all. If you're going to by a sex toy then it's supposed to enhance things, not make you want to go back to what you were doing prior.

My experience with the WaterWieners™ was much the same as with the FoamWieners™, but with a couple of notable differences. I should mention first that the WaterWieners™ also come in the same three textures as the FoamWieners™: Smooth, Wavy, and Bumpy, and this time I had the Bumpy to try out. Much like with the Wavy prior I found the bumps on the Bumpy WaterWieners™ to feel uncomfortable against my penis, and also not especially conducive to delivering sexual satisfaction. The first real difference between the WaterWieners™ and the FoamWieners™ is that the WaterWieners™ are tighter. Because they're filled with water rather than air they don't really compress when you squeeze them, so it's more difficult to force anything between the rollers. The instruction pamphlet does suggest that the VërSpanken™ can be used with the catch undone, so this is a good option to consider, especially for men with larger girth. If, however, you really do crave tightness from your masturbator, then you'll probably prefer the WaterWieners™ over the FoamWieners™, and happily use it with the catch fastened. The other difference with the WaterWieners™ comes down to what you can do with them; the liquid centre allows you to alter the temperature of them, either heating them up in the microwave, or cooling them down in the fridge. You just need to be sensible about how you do this, because if you make them too hot then you'll burn yourself, and if you put them in the freezer instead of the fridge then you'll have two unusable blocks of ice until they thaw. The ability to change the temperature is a nice added feature over the regular FoamWieners™, especially if you enjoy sensory play.

On the whole I have to say that I wouldn't be inclined to recommend the VërSpanken™ line of products; the  simple fact that I realised that my hand would have been preferable speaks volumes. It's quite a reasonably priced piece, around half the cost of a Fleshjack, so it's easy to be tempted, but I have to say that it would be a false economy. You can get some brilliant budget Tengas for even less so it's worth weighing up your options. Strangely enough I do quite like the concept of the VërSpanken™ still, just not the execution, so it's not something I'd write off completely. It's different, and it's got that going for it, especially with the mix and match concept, and with improvements I could see potential in the design, but in its current state I'd have to say no. It's really a matter of the materials; uncomfortably rubbing myself between a couple of rubbery balloons, or water-balloons, with firm ridges/bumps just isn't the road towards good orgasms, at least not in my case. If they used a material where the texture stimulated me in the right way, then we'd be talking.

The VërSpanken™ and WaterWieners™ are available from Nice 'n' Naughty.

Dual-Density Dildos

$

One of my favourite types of sex toy on the market today is the dual-density dildo, and the simple reason for this is that they offer an unparalleled sense of realism, something which you'll almost struggle to believe until the first time you try one for yourself.

What makes dual-density dildos so special is that they're designed in such a way that they have a firm-yet-flexible inner core, surrounded by a layer of soft squishy material on the outside. It works in much the same way as a real penis, where the shaft is solid during an erection, while the head remains spongy. It's not something which many of us ever give much thought to, but this particular feature of the penis exists so as to facilitate comfortable intercourse for the receptive partner; the spongy head acts like a shock absorber, cushioning any accidental impact caused by over-vigorous thrusting, and the dual-density dildos mimic this perfectly.

The combination of material densities in these dildos gives a wonderfully natural feeling, even if you're just using them by yourself, and that can be reason enough to buy one; there's nothing at all alien about the way in which it feels, so you can really lose yourself in the moment, rather than being conscious that you're using an inanimate object. They're especially good for anal use, and even more so for beginners, because they're so gentle; the squishy head doesn't apply too much force to the sphincter as you're trying to insert it, allowing it to enter smoothly without coming as a shock, and once is it inserted that soft layer around the shaft absorbs the force of any clenching of the tight muscle against it. Where the dual-density dildos really shine though has to be in use with a partner for strap-on play. When you're using any dildo by yourself you're always conscious of your own limits, and are able to control the depth of insertion, but when a partner is in control this isn't so easy. Here is a prime example again of when the squishy head really works to your advantage, because when an over-excited partner goes a little too deep it's not going to feel like a battering ram to the guts like it may with something more solid, instead that soft tip is going to take that force and you'll just feel a little pressure inside instead.

At present there are two manufacturers of dual-density dildos, Tantus and Vixen Creations, and they each make them slightly differently, but one thing they have in common is what they make them from - silicone. Silicone is a wonderful material, not only because of its versatility which allows it to be made in different levels of firmness, but also because of its reputation as a safe material. With a high quality silicone product you can guarantee a number of important things: that it's odourless, and by extension tasteless, that it's non-porous, allowing it to be sterilised and shared between partners, and that it won't leach out any toxic chemicals into the body. Another great fact about silicone is how it reacts to heat. I've been talking a lot about how natural and realistic these dildos feel, and this is just another example of that; when you're using a silicone product you'll find that the material will steadily suck up heat from the body until it reaches equilibrium, and the result is that you'll be using a nice warm dildo which feels exactly the same temperature as your body - or indeed the same temperature as though it were someone else's body.

The first dual-density dildo I tried was from Tantus, and you can easily identify the products in their dual-density range by looking for the characters "O2" after the names. I currently have two, the Max O2 and the Adam O2. The core of the Tantus O2 dildos is made from the same type of silicone as the majority of their other products, so it has a nice amount of rigidity to it and holds its shape well, but you can still flex it about without too much effort. The shaft is covered with a fairly thin layer of the "SuperSoft" silicone, but it's distributed so that it's slightly thicker along the underside of the dildo, which is the area of a real penis through which the urethra would run, making this attention to detail especially realistic. The core extends only around 1/3 of the way into the head, leaving the rest of it made entirely from the softer silicone. The SuperSoft material really is lovely and squishy, not as much as the soft tissue would be on a real penis, but enough to give the right effect. In terms of visual appearance the Tantus O2 dildos do have one nice quirk, which is that they're dual finish as well as dual-density; the head has a completely smooth and shiny surface, while the shaft is slightly matte, again aimed at making it appear more natural. Aside from that the dildos aren't terribly detailed, and at most you'll spot a subtle vein along the shaft, or a wrinkle of skin below the head marking the location of the frenulum. The dildos come in a variety of shapes and sizes to suit your needs, including some with balls and some without. The Max O2 is long, thick, and straight as an arrow, while the Adam O2 is thinner, shorter, and curved especially for prostate stimulation, and amongst the rest of the range you're sure to find something perfect.

Vixen Creations take a slightly different approach to designing their dual-density dildos to Tantus, and I currently have four of them: the Randy, the Maverick, the Johnny, and the Outlaw. Vixen make their dildos from a type of silicone which they call "VixSkin", and this is all round softer than that used by Tantus. The inner core of the dildos has a much greater degree of flex to it; it's enough for the dildos to comfortably hold their shape, but place them in a harness and you're much more likely to notice a droop in shaft. The outer layer of soft silicone is also much thicker around the shaft than on a Tantus dildo, which takes away a little of the realism, but does make it slightly more comfortable during use. Again the softer silicone has more squish to it, and almost the entire tip of dildo is made from it, so if you were to take the head between your thumb and forefinger and squeeze, then it would compress far more than on the Tantus. This extra softness does have its pros and cons: it definitely adds additional cushioning inside the body during use, but in terms of insertion, sometimes the material just moves and stretches around when pressed against a tight orifice, rather than going inside, which can be a slight hindrance if you weren't planning on using a warm-up toy. In terms of appearance the Vixen dildos are markedly more detailed than the Tantus ones; there are plenty of veins along the shaft, folds of a retracted foreskin, and wrinkles along the balls (on those dildos which have them). This does give them a slight edge as they are very impressive to look at. Some of the dildos even include a suction cup built into the base which is a wonderful idea and very useful to have. There's really good variety of different shapes, sizes, and colours to pick from, so again you'll find one to suit your individual needs, or even several if you're like me.

I have to say that I really do love both the Tantus and Vixen dual-density dildos, and I wouldn't like to pick a favourite between them, if anything I like that they're different, because each will suit divergent tastes. I hope now it's clearer why I'm so convinced that dual-density dildos are amongst some of the best sex toys available today, and I also hope that it'll make picking the one that's right for you a little easier.

Dolph Lambert Dildo

June is upon us and what better way to kick it off than with another Fleshjack dildo review? Better yet it marks the return of the Bel Ami boys as I check out Kevin's friend and scene partner Dolph Lambert.

This review comes a little overdue as I was originally supposed to review the dildo back in April, as part as my Fleshjack challenge (my self-imposed goal to review a different Fleshjack dildo every month of 2013), but unfortunately the company which originally offered it to me suddenly dropped off the face of the planet and ceased responding to e-mails. My subsequent attempts to secure one for review in May also came up against a brick wall, but thanks to a 20% off sale over at the wonderful Esmale I decided to splash out and grab one myself for a bargain price, after all it would be a shame to let all this lovely artwork go to waste.

Check out the review below.

The Dolph Lambert is another one of the big girthy dildos that we've all come to expect from Fleshjack, and proof that the men of Europe are packing just as much in the trouser department as all the stars of gay porn from across the Pond. The dildo measures in at 7 1/8" in total length, with a maximum of 5 3/4" of that being actually insertable. Around the middle of the shaft the girth comes in at an impressive 6", and this thickness continues uniformly right down to the base.

The dildo is manufactured from 100% platinum silicone in a pale flesh-tone. As the Bel Ami range is relatively new all the dildos are made from the softer silicone, like with the Kevin Warhol and Brent Everett models which I reviewed, and I find this exhibits quite similar properties to the silicone used in the Tantus Pack 'n' Play line. It's a really lovely material to squeeze as it has a lot of give in the surface, and it's easy to bend back and forth, and even twist or stretch slightly. As always the quality of construction is absolutely impeccable, and I've examined the dildo with all five senses without being able to find a single flaw in it to complain about, nor a mould-line in sight.

The one thing which keeps bringing me back to Fleshjack dildos time and time again is their stunning realism and attention to detail, and naturally the Dolph Lambert is no different in this regard. It is incredibly life-like both to look at and to hold in your hands, in a way which other 'realistic' dildos seldom are, so Fleshjack clearly deserves kudos for whatever techniques they developed to achieve this. Were it not for the fact that it's disembodied then it could more than easily be mistaken for a real body part, if someone were to lay eyes upon it inside a room where the lights were dimmed. There's so much detail to pour over on it if you have the time, because even the most minute aspect is captured exquisitely, from the grain of the skin, to the small veins along the surface of the shaft, and even every wrinkle and hair follicle on the scrotum.

The dildo starts off with a nicely-shaped head which is quite well-proportioned. From the front it has a traditional bell shape to it, and it flares out at the corona leaving it slightly wider than the shaft. Looking at it from the side it's actually not all that thick, so it does have the effect of leaving a nice taper in place for you to take advantage of during use. The glans is largely smooth, though it does have around half a dozen small raised bumps along the surface of it, which appear to be anatomical peculiarities particular to Dolph, though I can't say I've ever noticed them when watching him in action. While they don't really detract in any marked way, I think that possibly there's such a thing as too much realism, and I can't see anyone complaining had they just chosen to shave them off the mould. At the top of the head is a long deep meatus (the opening into the urethra), and it's captured so well that you could really imagine probing it with your tongue were you fortunate enough to have the opportunity to give the real Dolph Lambert a blow job. Directly below the meatus a subtle frenulum connects the head to the shaft, as indicated by some folds in the skin. Given their European roots the guys from Bel Ami are some of the few Fleshjack Boys who aren't circumcised, so you get the bonus of some extra detailing at the top of the shaft of where the foreskin sits. Dolph's foreskin really seems to hug the rim of the head quite tightly when retracted, and it bunches up against the corona. In a way its close proximity does take something away from the head, as without that clear step down from head to shaft the impact and prominence of it is lessened. It's different to on the Kevin model, where there was a good 1/8" gap between the ridge of the glans and the fold of skin, and it does make you want to reach out and pull the foreskin down further, if only these things weren't immobile on dildos. It also makes an interesting contrast with the Jason Visconti dildo, where the much looser foreskin smooths out over the shaft and is barely noticeable. Aside from around the head the whole shaft has a largely uniform thickness, and it curves upwards slightly towards the tip much in the same way as the Kevin Warhol dildo does. The underside of the shaft has a lovely thick and pronounced central column, which not only makes it look impressive and strangely mighty, but which also gives it an almost circular cross-section. At the base of the shaft is an impressive-looking pair of large and asymmetric balls. The left testicle is notably much larger than the right, and it sits higher and closer to the shaft, giving it more depth in the dildo too. On the whole it's a pretty attractive dildo, but I think that largely I like it as a Dolph Lambert fan, rather than as an impartial observer. From an objective standpoint there are dildos with an aesthetic which better meets my perfect penis criteria, so perhaps it doesn't entirely stand on its own, but then I am renowned for my fussiness. I certainly wouldn't kick its owner out of bed.

The nice tapered head allows the dildo to slip quite easily into the body, in spite of its overall size, and the soft silicone feels gentle and comfortable against the sphincter. As you pass over the coronal ridge, and the fold of foreskin below, you feel a slight bump initially as the head pops inside, and then as the shaft follows you become aware of how wonderfully filling the girth feels. Due to the high level of realism in the dildo all the minute detail of the skin and veins that's captured in the surface creates a small amount of texture, which in turn causes a degree of drag. It's a level of drag which is more noticeable on this dildo than the others, but you're only really aware of it at the start as the more your sphincter relaxes during use the more the slight texture fades into the background. Use of a thick, high-quality, anal lube also helps minimise this feeling further if you'd rather avoid it.

You have a couple of options of how you can choose to use the dildo; the balls at the base make a convenient handle to grab onto and manually thrust with, but their size and broad footprint also give the dildo a low centre of gravity, so you can stand it upright somewhere and ride it without it toppling over. Because the dildo has a nice thick shaft, without too much curve, it has enough structural integrity to allow you to squat over it and insert it without having to guide the tip in by hand. This is quite useful in case you get too energetic during play and slip off the end, as you can just drop back down again and have it inside you without fussing around. At the same time the material still manages to maintain enough flex to allow the dildo to bend around all inside the body and give a really comfortable ride by adapting to the internal shape of the anatomy.

The total insertable length of the dildo is such that most people will probably be able to make use of the majority of it straight away, and that leaves you with just under an inch or so to play around with and try to get inside as you progress. Because the tip of the dildo is quite nice and soft you can afford to be fairly rough when messing around with it, without worrying about discomfort, and a vigorous thrusting session is likely to result in you inserting the dildo deeper than you expected to be able to. It doesn't really matter that much which way you insert the dildo, as the subtle curve doesn't affect the performance greatly, but it can be fun just to play around and see if you discover a slight preference for one way more than the other. Either way it's a pretty nice toy for getting some prostate stimulation, as the thick shaft rubs back and forth across it you thrust. I really do enjoy this dildo for thrusting; the girth of it just feels wonderful, and you get that nice little bit of stretch in the sphincter, as well as a full feeling which extends deep inside you. It's probably not the ideal dildo for a beginner, simply in terms of its thickness - Kevin is a much more suitable candidate in that regard. For any Dolph Lambert fan out there though, it's definitely a size that's worth working up to, as it feels great when it's in, and you get that bonus mental factor of knowing just who it is who's inside you.

The dildo comes packaged inside a cardboard box, but something a little more than just an ordinary box. The box is black for the most part, and adorned with various brand logos and images of Dolph holding his dildo, but the front of the box is actually a door which can be opened. The flap is held down with velcro, but once opened you can see the contents of the box inside clearly through a plastic window. The dildo is held securely inside the box by a plastic tray which is moulded to the shape of it. On the whole the packaging is nice and it's perfectly suited to storing the dildo in long term.

Overall I'd have to say that I'm just as impressed with this dildo as I have been with every other product I've tried from Fleshjack in the past. When it comes to making highly-detailed realistic dildos Fleshjack really are the master at this. There are currently 13 in total to collect, and I'm almost halfway there now with my 6. The Dolph Lambert is a lovely dildo which will appeal to both fans of the man, and fans of girth, especially those looking for something filling to please the prostate. It may not quite make it into my top 3 if I were to rank them all, but that doesn't mean that is still isn't a great piece, and I can happily give my full recommendation to it.

The Dolph Lambert dildo is available at the lowest price in the UK from Esmale, where you can get an extra 10% off when you use the code 'INCEND10' and the checkout. Other stockists include SexShop365.

Alternatively you can purchase it directly from Fleshjack, along with the other Bel Ami boys:

Lelo Bob

It's funny to think that after all this time spent reviewing sex toys over the past two years I've only tried out one product from the Swedish company Lelo, but then again I'm not quite the right demographic for their range of luxury vibrators. This week the lovely folks over at ThatPosition have sent me the Lelo Bob to review for them, which is a small manual prostate massager for gentlemen. I don't know about you guys but I find 'Bob' a rather amusing name for a sex toy, mostly because I'm a big fan of that early 90s David Lynch cult-classic 'Twin Peaks' - if you've never seen it then I highly recommend it and you'll understand exactly what I mean. I can already hear the eerie theme music in my mind, and Kyle MacLachlan uttering the name "Bob" in his oh-so-distinctive manner. I digress though, so let's get on with the review.

The Bob is a rather stylish little prostate massager from Lelo, and unlike its vibrating cousin the Billy it relies entirely on manual thrusting to stimulate yourself, or indeed a partner.

The design of the Bob is actually fairly small, making it perfectly suited to men who are just starting to explore anal-play and prostate stimulation, and who might not be used to inserting more than a tentative finger into the rectum. In total it's around 4 3/4" long, including the handle, and of this about 3 1/2" inches are actually insertable, which is more than enough when you consider the relatively shallow location of the prostate within the body. The widest part of the toy is no more than 1 1/8" thick (3 1/4" circumference) so there's really nothing about it which should alarm anyone, though more seasoned anal players may be tempted to greet its modest size with some scepticism, but I caution you not to write it off.

The shape of the Bob is rather like tadpole, albeit with a gently curved body; it's quite bulbous at the end with a fairly rounded tip, and then it gradually slims down to a very narrow point where it joins onto the ring-shaped handle. It's clearly a shape which has been quite well thought-out in order to maximise its performance, which is always reassuring when you think how many toys seem to have been designed by someone who appears to never have seen the human body, but Lelo is one of those companies from which you can expect quality.

Like all of Lelo's products the Bob is made from 100% body-safe food-grade platinum silicone, and it has this soft velvety feel to the seamless matte finish. Silicone is one of my favourite sex toy materials not only because of its safety level, but it's completely odorless, and indeed tasteless, so none of your senses risk being offended. Overall the Bob is made from a pretty firm silicone and is solid all the way through; there's really no give to the material, nor any flexibility, except for one area, and that would be the very thinnest point at the neck where the body meets the handle.

When you're ready to start playing with the toy you'll find that it's very easy to insert. Because of the size no sort of warm up is required, even for the tightest of unexplored sphincters, and a little relaxation, gentle pressure, and patience should have it slipping inside in no time. The matte surface of the silicone holds onto lube incredibly well, and a good slathering of the water-based variety is essential to ensure smooth entry. The Bob feels very comfortable as it goes in, and even though it is quite firm the size of it prevents this from being an issue and it won't upset your sphincter, even if you find it squeezing down hard against the toy. Once you're over the widest part of the toy the slender remainder glides into place without an issue, and the hoop-like handle acts as a safety measure to prevent it from accidentally slipping entirely inside.

The way to use the Bob is to grip the handle by slipping a finger or thumb through the hoop, and by slowly making short rhythmic thrusts back and forth. The curve of the toy directs the bulbous end up and against the prostate where it applies a gentle pressure, and the thrusting rubs it back and forth across the surface. When used in this action the Bob is much more effective than I would have imagined, and surprisingly pleasurable. You get some really nice sensations from feeling it rubbing against your prostate in this way, enough to keep you going with it for a while. My initial fear with the Bob had been down to the flexible neck, because I've used other toys with a similar feature before, and in those cases the result had always been that I was unable to direct a firm pressure onto the prostate, rendering them less satisfactory than would have been ideal. Somehow the Bob manages to avoid this problem; while it is true that you can't exert a firm pressure onto the prostate, it transpires that you don't actually need to. Somehow the shape of the Bob works perfectly well on its own, simply when making an ordinary thrusting action, so you don't need to attempt to angle the toy further into the prostate and prod away at it. My only other concern had been with the size, because I am known to enjoy big toys, and while it certainly isn't the most filling toy in the world - far from it - the enjoyment gained from thrusting more than makes up for it, making it a good toy for beginner and experienced user alike.

Because Lelo is a brand that's known for its quality the Bob comes in some rather nice packaging. You get a simple cardboard presentation box which comes inside an outer sleeve, and everything is very discreet and elegant. You'd never suspect that a sex toy was inside, rather that it might be something such as an expensive pair of cufflinks, or a small gadget. Inside the box the Bob is held in place securely by a plastic insert, and with it is included a small pamphlet as well as a black satin storage pouch, which is great for keeping the Bob inside when you pop it into a bedside drawer, so you don't have to bother with the box on every occasion.

Overall I'd be happy to recommend the Lelo Bob to anyone, and especially beginners. It's a great little toy which is well made, of a high quality, and can do a lot for its size. It's definitely a toy which can deliver pleasure where you want it, and one which is worth checking out.

The Lelo Bob is available from ThatPosition.

Lucky Bloke

I was contacted recently by the people behind Lucky Bloke, and asked if I would be interested in doing a review for them. Lucky Bloke provide a rather ingenious service: they supply packs of assorted condoms, allowing you to sample a wide variety of different shapes, sizes, thicknesses, textures, etc, without spending a small fortune. Buying condoms can be a bit like Russian roulette: you walk into a pharmacy, grab a pack of something off the shelves, and have no real idea whether they're going to be any good or not. If it turns out that they're terrible you've still got half a boxful that you've paid good money for, so either you use them up to the detriment of future sexual experiences, or you throw them out and say goodbye to that cash forever. Even if you've found a condom that you think you like, chances are there may be something even better out there which you just don't know about. Lucky Bloke's solution is both simple and effective: you get a pack of different condoms, you try each one out, and eventually through a process of elimination you determine which works best for you and you need only ever buy that brand again. No more wasted money and half-full packs of condoms lying around, what could be better?

As a single man I don't have much scope right now to be trying out dozens of different condoms, which is where Lucky Bloke's other service comes in, lube samples! Picking the right lube is just as tricky as it is picking the right condom, possibly more so, and to make matters worse lube can be expensive and come in great bottles full of the stuff. As a sex toy reviewer lube is my best friend, and so I'm especially loathed to risk making a mistake when buying some, which is why this is such a fantastic idea in my mind.

Lucky Bloke offers two different lube samplers, a regular selection and a flavoured selection, depending on your preference. The flavoured one is an especially useful thing to have considering that while you may be able to make the best of mediocre lube at any other time, when it's going in your mouth you really don't want to risk an unpleasant taste.

Each sampler contains 6 sachets of different lubricants, ranging in size from as little as 1.5ml, up to 3, 4, 5ml depending on the brand. The larger 5ml sachets are definitely preferable, and give you a better indicator of what the lube is like, but obviously Lucky Bloke have no control over how large the companies decide to make their individual sachets, even though uniformity would be preferable.

The assortment of lubes you receive contains a nice mix of well-known brands such as Sliquid and Pjur, as well as some smaller companies which you may never have heard of before, so you're sure to get the opportunity to try something new, and may even find a hidden gem that's yet to become mainstream.

The lubes are a mixture of silicone and water-based, and so are all condom safe, though if you're looking to experiment with toys then remember as a rule not to use a silicone lube with a silicone toy unless you've done a patch test and are confident that there's no reaction. One thing that all the lubes do have in common is that there's a full list ingredients on the back of each sachet, so you can check that they don't contain anything which you're known to react badly to. The only downside though is that if you do react badly to something then there's no way to avoid getting a sachet of that in your sampler, so you may end up with a couple of unusable ones. It may be an idea in the future for Lucky Bloke to consider offering a paraben-free sampler for example, to cater to people who are sensitive to such things.

Each lube sampler sells for $7.99, + $0.99 for shipping within the United States, or $1.99 worldwide, so that works out at about £6.53 or €7.60 including shipping, which seems perfectly reasonable to me considering what you're getting. Orders are despatched from Oregon via first class mail, and it took only a week for me to receive it in the UK which is surprisingly efficient, though delivery times may vary, especially during peak periods for mail. The sachets are packed into a small thin plastic box, slightly smaller than the size of a DVD case, and this in turn is placed into a jiffy bag / padded envelope, which all serves to protect the sachets well during transit, so you won't end up with a leaky bag of burst lube.

I was sent 12 sachets in total, and to give you an idea of what you might receive they were: Sliquid H2O, Sliquid Sea, Sliquid Silk, Sliquid Sassy, Pjur Original Bodyglide, Uberlube, Good Clean Love Almost Naked Lubricant, One Oasis, One Move, Delicious Encounter peach lubricant, and two sachets of Pleasure Works Please Cream. I'm not quite certain about the reason for the duplication of the last one, but other than that it's a really good selection and has introduced me to lots of lubes that I haven't had the opportunity to try before.

I'm tempted to review each of the lubes more thoroughly on an individual basis at a later date, but for now I will say that a couple of the ones which really stood out were the Sliquid lubes which are lovely and completely free from "DEA, gluten, glycerine, glycerol, parabens, PEG, propylene, glycol, sorbitol and sulphates" as well as being vegan-friendly, and also the Pjur lube which is the only brand of silicone lube which Tantus certifies as compatible for use with their silicone toys (though the Pjur sachet was the most stingy, at only 1.5ml of product).

I have to say I've had a lot of fun trying out all these lubes, and I'd definitely recommend the Lucky Bloke service to everyone. You get a great variety, for a great price, shipped securely and speedily; what more could you ask for? I'd definitely use them again myself in the future, especially when the time comes for me to find the perfect condom.

Go ahead and check them out at theCondomReview.com, you'll be glad that you did, and thanks to Lucky Bloke for generously sending me these samples.

Metal Worx Luv Plug

$

This week it's time for my second review for the folks over at ThatPosition, who generously sent me the Metal Worx Luv Plug along with the Lelo Bob which I reviewed at the start of the month. The two products are similar in that they're both small, manual, prostate massagers, so it should be interesting to compare and contrast.

I'm quite a fan of the Metal Worx toys, and am steadily building up quite the collection, with this being number 4 now, so I have high expectations for it.

I always find myself starting a review for a Metal Worx toy by talking about the packaging, which ordinarily would be something left to a footnote, but it is a little bit special. The Luv Plug comes in a heavy duty case, the style of which you might expect to see a professional photographer storing expensive lenses inside. The corners are all constructed from a lightweight metal, while the side panels are made from a textured black plastic which resembles carbon fibre. The lid is hinged on the back and has a firm clasp on the front. Inside the case is foam padding, with a groove cut out into which the plug snugly fits. Not only does the case help give the Luv Plug the appearance of being precious and expensive, but it's also a great place to securely store it when not in use. The only downside is that the case is a little bulky if you're short on space, measuring 7 1/2" x 3 1/8" x 3 1/8".

Despite its name, the Luv Plug, the toy should really be considered more of a prostate massager than a butt plug, though clearly there's no reason why it shouldn't be used as both. The design is immediately recognisable if you're familiar with the njoy Pfun, as the two do bear some unquestionable similarities. The shaft of the toy has two main bulged sections which curve upwards, reminding me of the sight of someone doing abdominal crunches. At the end of the shaft is a small handle which takes the form of a slightly-squashed ellipsoid loop, allowing a finger or two to be slipped through it during use, similar to with my njoy Pure Plug 2.0. Uniquely for this Metal Worx product the back of the handle is adorned with a slight embellishment, in the form of a plastic faux-diamond which is embedded into it. As far as I'm concerned it doesn't really add anything to the overall appearance, and I might go so far as using the word "tacky" in reference to how it looks, but its presence there certainly isn't going to make or break the toy. The Luv Plug is made from polished steel to a generally high standard, and the surface is completely smooth. Unfortunately if you look closely there are a couple of minor blemishes and imperfections on the piece, but they're not significant enough to be felt, are so are only bothersome in relation to how much of a perfectionist one is. The toy has a total length of 4 1/2", with 3 1/2" of that being insertable, and a 3 3/4" circumference, making it a relatively small toy. The one area where the Luv Plug does feel big though is in terms of weight; given the high density of metal it's one of the heavier toys in my collection.

When it comes to using the Luv Plug its much less of a beginner's toy than the Lelo Bob  and this is down to a couple of factors: firstly the head of the plug is that much larger than on the Bob and it has a rapid taper, and secondly metal is a hard and unforgiving material, so you're really going to feel its presence without any cushioning for the sphincter. For those reasons I'd say it's a step or two up from the Bob  though a very patient novice could probably still manage it if they were determined enough. Provided you're sufficiently prepared and relaxed the smooth surface of the Luv Plug allows it to glide comfortably inside the body, and the advantage of metal here is that you can pick any type of lube you like; I always opt for silicone with a metal toy because of how slick and long-lasting it is. As the toy goes in you feel a couple of bumps, or "pops", as the sphincter passes over each bulge, and this can be a pleasant sensation, then it finally comes to rest with the handle sitting securely against the outside of the body and preventing accidental over-insertion.

As with the Bob the intended way to use the Luv Plug is to grip the handle by slipping a finger or two through the loop, and by slowly making short rhythmic thrusts back and forth. The obvious difference here is with the complete rigidity of the material, compared to that flexibility that the Bob has just above the handle. Before I'd tried either toy I was convinced that I was going to prefer the metal, because of the ability to really angle the toy into the prostate and apply a firm pressure, but it turns out not to be the case at all. No matter how I use the Luv Plug, somehow it always seems to miss my prostate, and I actually find it disappointingly unstimulating. Whether I thrust normally with it, or if I really go prodding around in search of the prostate, nothing seems to deliver a satisfying result. Something about the length or shape of it just has it skirting around the very target that it's designed to hit, whereas the Bob  with its flex, has this natural ability to move itself into the right position. I have to say it was quite an odd experience for me, and it goes to show that even after all this time of reviewing toys you can't always accurately predict how something's going to work for you until you've tried it. Setting aside its failures on the prostate front, one thing I did like about the design of the Luv Plug was how those distinct bulges felt when you pop them in and out of the sphincter, so that should appeal to anyone who enjoys textured anal play. The other thing you can do with the Luv Plug is just to wear it like a butt plug, but it's not best suited to that; the handle makes it awkward to sit on, the weight and shape makes it prone to slippage, and there's no significant stimulation to be gained from doing this either.

One of the best features of the Luv Plug is how well metal conducts heat, which naturally makes it perfect for temperature play. In this regard it is many times better than glass, which is another popular material for this. Just picking the toy up at room temperature will give the impression that it's already cold, which is fantastic if you're into low temperatures as it reduces the need to wait while it chills in the fridge. If cold isn't your thing then simply holding the plug in your hands for a few seconds will be enough to bring it up to a more comfortable temperature. Personally I love the feeling of a cold toy as it slides into the body, and find the sensations nothing short of amazing. The only downside is that the cold feeling doesn't last long, as the metal quickly sucks the heat out of the body and becomes quite hot to the touch. To deal with this it's handy to have a bucket of ice water nearby, as a quick dunk in there will have the toy back down to frigid temperatures in no time. Similarly if you like your temperature play at the other end of the spectrum, a dip in a basin of hot water will also do the trick.

The Luv Plug is very easy to clean as metal is a highly durable and non-porous material which is able to be sterilised. You can wash it with antibacterial soap and hot water, wipe it down with a 10% bleach solution, or boil it in water for a couple of minutes. Just be sure to dry it thoroughly when you're done, as the packaging only specifies that it's steel, and not stainless steel, so there is the potential for rusting if you're not careful. One other thing is that metal does show up fingerprints, so depending on how fussy you are you may find yourself polishing your Luv Plug before putting it away.

I'm going to be brief in my conclusion today and simply say that you should buy the Lelo Bob instead. It was interesting for me to have two seemingly-similar, yet vastly different toys to compare, and there was a clear cut winner. The Lelo Bob feels better in every regard, and is also more affordable, so there is no doubt in my mind which I would recommend. The Luv Plug is well made, has a nice case, and is good for temperature play, but it misses its primary mandate and therefore defeats the whole purpose of itself.

The Metal Worx Luv Plug is available from ThatPosition
